Dinner with the president

629

I didn’t comment on reports earlier this week that the SFA would allow Rangers International to complete an internal investigation into alleged links between Craig Whyte and Charles Green as I thought this was the appropriate course of action.

The SFA acted correctly: they wrote to Rangers International expressing concern over the matters in hand, and received assurances that their questions would be answered by an independent panel.  Last year the football authorities were slow to enforce compliance with predecessor club, Rangers, but we can hope they apply a little more pressure this time.

News, released last night, suggesting after it was established Craig Whyte had been struck off as a director and would therefore face disciplinary proceedings, he had dinner with SFA chief executive, Stewart Regan, and president, Campbell Ogilvie, is far more concerning.

Mr Regan assured us that Mr Ogilvie, who he admitted was “heavily conflicted” by matters concerning Rangers, would remove himself from matters concerning the club he was previously a director of.  This is meaningless if both parties met to discuss disciplinary matters with Mr Whyte before formal proceedings were underway.

What is increasingly clear is the co-dependency between so many characters in this play, including Regan and Ogilvie.  They exist to keep each other in a job. This co-dependency will be jeopardised by the one man so many are attempting to paint as the only villain of the piece. Craig Whyte has them all taped and will not go down quietly.

It will be a frustration to many that the bottom half of the Scottish Football League clubs have held out for a bigger share of the trickle-down pie.  Odds on a schism opening up between community and full time clubs have to be high.

Many thanks to everyone who has ordered (below) Willie Wallace’ autobiography, Heart of a Lions.  It goes to print this week and will be with us soon thereafter.

After looking at the published average home attendances for SPL clubs over the last two seasons:-

Celtic took the hit with crowds down about 75k over the season, for obvious reasons.

Of the 11 other teams, 3 broke about even, 4 were up and 4 were down.

If we exclude Celtic, the clubs with losses and gains almost exactly cancel out, in fact its marginally up.

No sign of armageddon yet (crowd wise anyway), but will our bone idle msm bother to report these numbers?

Here’s the rub Cammy, it’s still a dream, that club is dead.

Just off the phone to the SFA asking about the strips for Sunday, receptionist put me through to somebody’s ansafone. Not to worry I will phone Celtic FC, after all it is only 10p a minute. Listened to instructions, pressed zero and only ten minutes later (£1 and counting) I go the message that I was number 1 in the queue. Next message, “all our operators are busy, please call back later.” Still none the wiser.

Thing is, I have looked at the Cup rules and I cannot see how the two first team strips can be described as the “same or similar”, and I personally have never had a problem distinguishing between the two. Scarves might be a bit more difficult. Once again it is a question of transparency, Celtic are/were entitled to argue the case for the Hoops, (with white socks) and only then would the referee have the final decision, a la Leeds. Surely Celtic would argue for an all green and white final. No?

  21. Dannyboy67

I can see how Rules 25 and 26 may be interpreted in that way but my understanding is that “same, or similar” refers to strips that not only share the same colours but a similar design, West Ham, Aston Villa or Burnley for example. Not Celtic and Hibs!

Ref Charlotte’s latest release which has a letter from an Sevco investor from an accommodation address in Panama.

Panama, the country invented by the USA to allow them to build and control the Panama canal.

Panama was a region of Colombia until the Colombian Govt refused to grant the Americans the canal zone for their project. Americans fomented unrest in the region and advised locals that they would put a couple of US gunboats in the harbour if they rebelled against Bogota. Colombian Govt was unable to do nothing about it.

Voila, new nation of Panama established.Americans moved in within the year to start building their canal.

Panama is simply a strip of land on both sides of the canal.
