I didn’t comment on reports earlier this week that the SFA would allow Rangers International to complete an internal investigation into alleged links between Craig Whyte and Charles Green as I thought this was the appropriate course of action.
The SFA acted correctly: they wrote to Rangers International expressing concern over the matters in hand, and received assurances that their questions would be answered by an independent panel. Last year the football authorities were slow to enforce compliance with predecessor club, Rangers, but we can hope they apply a little more pressure this time.
News, released last night, suggesting after it was established Craig Whyte had been struck off as a director and would therefore face disciplinary proceedings, he had dinner with SFA chief executive, Stewart Regan, and president, Campbell Ogilvie, is far more concerning.
Mr Regan assured us that Mr Ogilvie, who he admitted was “heavily conflicted” by matters concerning Rangers, would remove himself from matters concerning the club he was previously a director of. This is meaningless if both parties met to discuss disciplinary matters with Mr Whyte before formal proceedings were underway.
What is increasingly clear is the co-dependency between so many characters in this play, including Regan and Ogilvie. They exist to keep each other in a job. This co-dependency will be jeopardised by the one man so many are attempting to paint as the only villain of the piece. Craig Whyte has them all taped and will not go down quietly.
It will be a frustration to many that the bottom half of the Scottish Football League clubs have held out for a bigger share of the trickle-down pie. Odds on a schism opening up between community and full time clubs have to be high.
Many thanks to everyone who has ordered (below) Willie Wallace’ autobiography, Heart of a Lions. It goes to print this week and will be with us soon thereafter.

It is amazing how many Celtic supporters believe the SNP if they get independence will end sectarianism, racism, child poverty and have a socialist utopia.
When I ask where the evidence is for this they just think it would happen. The secret destruction of this documentary evidence is one of the most anti-democratic acts I have ever seen.

Correct it is one of the most anti-democratic moves we have heard of.
Why do people assume that the SNP are guaranteed power in an independent Scotland?
I may vote Yes, but I’m less likely to vote SNP in an independent Scotland than I am now.
Have there been denials from any of the individuals or companies mentioned in the Charlotte leaks?
These revelations have been appearing for several days now so you’d think that if they were fakes the named parties would shouting their innocence from the roof-tops.

This co-dependency will be jeopardised by the one man so many are attempting to paint as the only villain of the piece. Craig Whyte has them all taped and will not go down quietly.
Surely this co-dependency will be reinforced, not jeopardised, if Whyte threatens to reveal that they acquiesced to his control of RFC in full knowledge of his director ban? They will need to support each other.
Also, who will decide on sporting legalities if not the national association? You saw in the double contract investigation how they rode roughshod over sporting fairness with their Brysoning of the facts. And furthermore, you saw how the SPL clubs, including Celtic, accepted it with barely a murmur.
They’ll just do what they like. Who’s going to stop them? Celtic? Naw.

Exactly -a yes vote is not necessarily a vote for Salmond.
After independence there would then be a Scottish election.
Could be new parties will be formed.
Exciting times.

From earlier. Interesting story re Manchester City and the (new) New York City FC. I think, but I could be wrong, that I am one of the few on here who have advocated an Atlantic League which included teams on both sides of that mighty ocean. Unlike Paul67. It may seem fanciful but I can see some kind of transatalantic tournament in the not too distant future, a tournament in which Glasgow would play a part. Glasgow Celtic that is.
Len B-aye,Keane been very quiet since SAF retired? Strange guy.

Have the SFA, as organisers of the Scottish Cup, lined up a VIP to present the trophy on Sunday to the captain of the victorious side?
Or will the odious and corrupt Presidente do the honours, brass neck in full view?!
I would refuse to shake his hand, while at the same time whispering into his ear!

I’m pretty sure there has been no public confirmation that any of the parties named have been asked to confirm or deny (pace OG Rafferty, who says some journalists have been asking).
Maybe they are afraid of what they might be told, or maybe they are all too busy writing about the Sevco (ban? what ban?) signing extravaganza.

He was aware. Not sure if he was through but know my auntie was at the funeral. He had a hundred stories about Fr Cairns. Sounded a right character! I only saw him at family funerals in the 80’s and 90’s and he was old by then.

Off at a slight tangent, but London was being touted to hold the 50th Superbowl in 2016.
It was never going to get it, San Francisco will host it, but if it did, the Americans wanted a midnight ko to satisfy their viewers.

Proudbhoy , The Boy Jinky , RalphWaldo ,
thanks for raising our name .
We currently have 62 season books in the LLL (52 kids @ £50 and 10 adult books).
This allows us to take 60 (52+8 supervising adults) to 21 home games next season. We keep 2 for our volunteers to help the visiting groups with any queries .
All our volunteers are required to be disclosure checks as are the visiting adults . We are open to all and accept applications @ http://www.thekanofoundation.com/apply
Our main target is deserving and disadvantaged children (from youth groups and societies ) all over the UK and Ireland .
This year , our “A Grand Old Team to See” campaign is aimed at getting 1000 supporters signed up to contribute from as little as £1 per month .
If you sponsor a seat @ £50 , you get a name-plaque on the seat for the season – we’ll give you the plaque at the end of the season if you don’t want to continue !!
Any other questions or issues , drop me a line sannabhoy@thekanofoundation.com

How exciting, an independent Scotland, where RC churches are burned down and we are told there is no sectarian motive by all the authorities and press, where sectarian murders are labelled under different motivation.
The public authorities, police force, media who cover all this up will suddenly mend their ways when we are independent, ffs sober up, if its like that now why would anyone think it will get any better when the same culprits become the highest authorities in the land.
Some people have too much kilt, shortbread and wee scotty dug fairy tale notions of this sectarian enclave.
Long term David Moyes target, Aiden McGeady is on his way out of Spartak Moscow after a major bust up with his club.
Back in January both Everton and Wigan failed with £5m bids to tempt him away but now the record £9.5m Scottish export has burnt his bridges.
The ex Celtic flying winger has been given a six game ban for near causing a riot! McGeady was sent off on Sunday for striking an opponent and making an offensive gesture to the crowd as he left the pitch which incited the home supporters, he then went and kicked down the dressing room door. He has scored Moscow’s goal in their 2-1 defeat.
The Russian Football Union’s disciplinary committee reviewed footage of the incident in the Russian Premier League fixture and issued a four-match suspension for his clash, plus a two-game ban for his behaviour after being shown the red card.
Spartak are not happy and neither is McGeady. He wants out, wants to play in the Premiership and is willing to take a pay cut – sounds perfect for us.
Brian Greenhoff RIP.

……..
Parish priest at St Leonards at the time of the sectarian attack was Canan McNamee who I believe passed away yesterday.
Despite Farage’s politics, I felt uneasy watching an interview with Salmond about the Farage incident where he came across as just smug & not interested in tolerating dissenters.
The destruction of inconvenient data about sectarian attacks smells like the same lack of transparency & fairness that we know so well from the SFA/SPL/SFL and the MSM.

The OSB is an opportunity for Celtic TV subscribers overseas who can afford to do so, to pay a little more than they do to watch Celtic on Celtic TV but also give someone in the UK who cannot afford the price of a match ticket he chance to attend in their place.
The Kano Foundation offer a similar charitable way for supporters in the UK to do likewise.
I had one last season and it worked a treat.

I would like to think after a resounding No vote on the indyref that Labour and the SNP could co-operate a bit more, but I dont think a new left Party could be formed I currently track some of the hatred between comrades from the SSP and Tommy Sheridan and also the major split in the SWP over the rape of a woman by a Party official.
The Unions would need to be a bit more cute in how they use their influence in the Lab Party to push them into a more socially cohesive policy positions
After the NO vote (in my opinion) the SNP will divide and be split for a few years before re-defining themselves.

They should be getting Fergus in to run the SFA!

Totally agree, however like it or loath it, being part of the UK has kept that scum in check.
Oh wait a minute, didn’t the last labour lot try and address it, begun a process which was abandoned by the SNP and replaced by legislation to “balance things up” ?
