Do our job and hope Killie struggle at Aberdeen

483

Celtic’s run of games at home against low ranking teams continue tomorrow against Hamilton Academical.  These matches are always straightforward on paper but it takes lots of energy to subvert any team of professionals.  If we get a comparable performance in the opening period to what was on display against Airdrie and St Mirren, Accies will be in for a difficult afternoon.

Assuming Celtic do their job right, we can hope that Aberdeen take something from Kilmarnock at Pittidrie.  Killie are currently only a point off the pace, although Celtic have a game in hand, against St Johnstone next midweek.

With his new strikers playing so well, Brendan Rodgers will be in no hurry to rush Odsonne Edouard back.  I am also keen to see more of Ewan Henderson.

I once heard “We gave the world Hugh McIlvanney.” He was good enough to be a national boast.  He lilov Big Jock too. Sigh.

DD- enjoy the time with your kids, (as I know you do), just now I am blessed that my kids and grand kids stay near me and I get to spent quality time with them and teaching the wee ones about the Famous Glasgow Celtic. I get to go out with my 22 year old for a pint and to the odd game and the grandson has a season ticket.

Macjay1- brilliant tune below and how poiniant are those words to so many, and although I enjoy precious times with my grown up kids, the time will come when those lyrics ring true in my ears, as I done with my dad when I got married and moved across the city, but I still managed to get to the games and have a pint with him.

Anyway Hail Hail and God Bless all

I suspect NFL is being removed to take him out of the cheating refs think tank, NFL would resist collusion to maintain the status quo and petrie knows this.

Macjay1- enjoy the game. It always amazes me that there are so many Celtic supporters clubs around the world. The passion and dedication from all the fans to either organise or just attend these clubs is outstanding and I salute you one and all. Whether watching in a club or getting up at all hours to watch the Famous. Respect to you.? It also amazes me the amount of Irish pubs around the globe, where we can watch our beloved team if we wish.

I was lucky enough to be in New York CSC and Manhatton CSC last year and the passion is incredible.

Captain Robert Nairac, who had illegally crossed the Irish border showed Fred Holroyd, an ex-intelligence officer, photographs of the body of assassinated senior IRA member John Francis Green on January 10, 1975. The gun allegedly used to kill Green was also used on July 21 1975 when three members of Ireland’s most popular pop group, the Miami Showband, were murdered.

Fred told the audience that Nairac had led a group of loyalist Ulster Volunteer Force members over the border, stopped the coach carrying the band and planted a bomb in the minibus. Because of a mistake the bomb went off killing two of the UVF members in his team. The other UVF members, along with two British soldiers, then shot the three band members in cold blood. Their plan, he claimed, was that this outrageous killing would wreck the ceasefire which the Labour government had negotiated with the IRA. Holroyd told us that this had been organised by rogue elements in MI5 who feared Wilson’s government was pro-Soviet Union and wanted Wilson out of office.

  13. Just noticed that Air France don’t have a row 13. I’m a naturally superstitious person but I’ve never noticed this before. I wonder how many airlines adhere to superstition.?

At least the airlines are listening to their passengers and implementing policy to suit.

Reading back , crazy policies by elected individuals, it is no wonder that so many are disillusioned and feel democracy is only for the elite to determine.

Politicians and civil servants need to reflect and act on public opinion not their own dogma. And when they say No it’s No they mean.

    DD,

Most effective way to dismiss the backstop argument is scupper the peace with false flag campaign. I suspect that is exactly what is happening, the DUP lobbied for brexit and the majority of voters voted against them, not something they care about, getting their own way is the priority regardless of collateral damage.

    Ad majorem dei Gloriam.

    Robert Nairac.

Nairac was born in Mauritius to an English mother and a father of French-Mauritian origin. His family name originates from the Gironde area of France. Contrary to popular belief, he had no Irish ancestry. His father was an eye surgeon who worked first in the north of England and then in Gloucester. Nairac was the youngest of four children, with two sisters, Rosemonde and Gabrielle, and a brother, David.[2] David died of myocarditis in 1962, aged 24.

Nairac, aged 10, attended prep school at Gilling Castle, a feeder school for the Roman Catholic public school Ampleforth College which he attended a year later. He gained nine O levels and three A levels, was head of his house and played rugby for the school. He became friends with the sons of Lord Killanin and went to stay with the family in Dublin and Spiddal in County Galway.[3]

He read medieval and military history at Lincoln College, Oxford, and excelled in sport; he played for the Oxford rugby 2nd XV and revived the Oxford boxing club where he won four blues in bouts with Cambridge. He was also a falconer, keeping a bird in his room which was used in the film Kes.[4]

He left Oxford in 1971 to enter Royal Military Academy Sandhurst under the sponsorship of the Grenadier Guards and was commissioned with them upon graduation.[5][6][7] After Sandhurst he undertook post-graduate studies at the University of Dublin, before joining his regiment.[8]

Nairac’s mother was Anglican and his father a Catholic. He and his siblings were raised in their father’s faith and he has been described by former army colleagues as “a committed Roman Catholic”[9] and as having “a strong Catholic belief”.[10]

Surely young Mr Weah to start today.

Son is still in Australia so will have his Vale season ticket today – playing against Steven Presley’s Carlisle.

  22. Greenpinata, I think most airlines don’t have a row 13. It’s something I noticed years ago, haven’t bothered looking for years but I presume RyanAir & Aer Lingus which are the ones I predominantly use are still the same.

I expect the reason is that if a superstitious Customer was randomly allocated a seat in Row13 they would be likely to raise a fuss .
