Do our job and hope Killie struggle at Aberdeen

483

Celtic’s run of games at home against low ranking teams continue tomorrow against Hamilton Academical.  These matches are always straightforward on paper but it takes lots of energy to subvert any team of professionals.  If we get a comparable performance in the opening period to what was on display against Airdrie and St Mirren, Accies will be in for a difficult afternoon.

Assuming Celtic do their job right, we can hope that Aberdeen take something from Kilmarnock at Pittidrie.  Killie are currently only a point off the pace, although Celtic have a game in hand, against St Johnstone next midweek.

With his new strikers playing so well, Brendan Rodgers will be in no hurry to rush Odsonne Edouard back.  I am also keen to see more of Ewan Henderson.

I once heard “We gave the world Hugh McIlvanney.” He was good enough to be a national boast.  He lilov Big Jock too. Sigh.

  1. we must be looking at strengthening our rightback options. We can say that but fair play to br, he is hardly gonna come out and say same to the media ffs, its hardly a motivator is it!!!.

I will be disappointed if we dont get a good rightback in the door, but I will wait till the transfer window closes before being hacked off!!!!

I am confident we will do just fine in euro qualifiers if we sort out fullback area, ajer will thrive if given enough game time. sumunivic at 24 years of age is a better player than boyata was at the same age. One other centreback in with bitton able to step in if needed would be good enough.

Have given up on compper and henry again i can say than br not so much.

We dont need a massive rebuild in the summer we need a massive cull!!

  2. Deelighted with the whole play by Celtic midweek.

Weah – It would be a Gift from the Almighty if we can get an extra 12 months of the young dude @ Celtic Park.

Being an old skool raver – the initial light show didnae really dae much for me – Wednesday was Most excellent and in fact, it was MAGICAL. Maximum Respect.

I hope Valencia are doing as well as possible – I think we have a right good chance to get through this tie with the recruitment in the forward areas.

Don’t get the idea that Bitton is a potential CH, afraid to head the ball and afraid to tackle,.

Also the bhoy Weah wanting to celebrate with the supporters will soon get that booked out of him and no one cracked a light.

Was it something I said, or quoted that upset the high heid yins as Robby might say.

    On Robert Burns Day too.

  5. Canamalar,

Brendan rates Bitton, he has been out for a very long time, I reckon he has muscled up a lot because of being out.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with Nir. He will be very hungry to play – and play well – who knows where!!!!

  10. Mr C,

For some reason Efe Ambrose is coming into my mind.

I don’t think he did criticise but he did with removing him – maybe not written in the Press.

    Petec,

Efe was being moved on and BR gave him a glowing report. As I said too polite and shrewd.

Israel has warned Ireland over passing a bill to ban imports of West Bank settlement products, saying the legislation, if adopted, would have “severe ramifications” on mutual relations, AP reported. Israel’s Foreign Ministry said Friday it summoned Irish Ambassador Alison Kelly to the headquarters in Jerusalem and made Israel’s stance on the matter clear to her. The ministry says the bill, which was advanced in Ireland’s lower house of parliament on Thursday, is “hypocritical and anti-Semitic.” The law envisions prison terms and high fines for Irish businesses trading with goods originating from illegal settlements on occupied land. If the bill becomes law, Ireland would become the first European country to ban settlement goods and would apply to illegal occupations anywhere in the world, not just Palestine and Israel. The EU in 2015 issued guidelines on labeling settlement products. Palestinians see the West Bank as part of their future state.

    From BBC Website.

Chairman Dave King has made a mandatory offer for all shares in Rangers other than those already held by him and three other main shareholders.

King was obliged to make the 20p per share offer by the Takeover Panel, which ruled he, George Letham, George Taylor and Douglas Park had acted “in concert” to acquire more than 30% of the Ibrox club’s shares.

After a protracted legal battle, the proposal has been submitted through an investment company owned by the King family trust.

Documents relating to the offer say he has been given an “irrevocable undertaking” by several shareholders – with a combined holding of more than 38% – who will not accept the terms.

An accompanying letter from Rangers’ independent directors recommends “shareholders whose prime motivation for their investment is financial, whose appetite for risk is limited and for whom liquidity is vital” accept the offer.

It further outlines pros and cons to selling, but underlines that “those of the independent directors who hold shares in RIFC will reject the offer”.

The terms set out by the Takeover Panel required funds of around £11m to be held in a UK account.

The offer is open until 13:00 GMT on Friday, 15 February.

  15. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Great news about our supporters who were on the receiving end of Amsterdam police ‘justice’, being eventually cleared with the Dutch judiciary highly critical of the police behaviour

As Jimmynotpaul earler stated , Celtic fc, the Celtic Trust and Fans against Criminalisation assisted those requiring legal advice . I hope those affected can now get on with their lives.

Timbhoy , all the best with your operation.
