Celtic’s run of games at home against low ranking teams continue tomorrow against Hamilton Academical. These matches are always straightforward on paper but it takes lots of energy to subvert any team of professionals. If we get a comparable performance in the opening period to what was on display against Airdrie and St Mirren, Accies will be in for a difficult afternoon.
Assuming Celtic do their job right, we can hope that Aberdeen take something from Kilmarnock at Pittidrie. Killie are currently only a point off the pace, although Celtic have a game in hand, against St Johnstone next midweek.
With his new strikers playing so well, Brendan Rodgers will be in no hurry to rush Odsonne Edouard back. I am also keen to see more of Ewan Henderson.
I once heard “We gave the world Hugh McIlvanney.” He was good enough to be a national boast. He lilov Big Jock too. Sigh.

Have they not suffered enough
Sad to hear about the passing of Hugh McIlvanney. A true legend of sports writing. An absolute master of his craft and who obviously took great pride in what he produced.
Always spoke well of Big Jock. I remember an interview he did on RS a few years ago. Was discussing the great Scottish managers and he was asked who was best. “I won’t say who was best, but nobody was better than Stein.”
R.I.P.

Mid 1980’s Hugh McIlvanney wrote abour Celtic in one of his classic two page articles in the sports section of The Ovserver.
He started his prose ( to the best of my memory) as follows….
” It’s hot, it’s noisy, it’s dark, it’s green…….they call it The JUNGLE”
Captured the jungle in one sentence.
RIP

the haggis and whisky shit will happen at the irish club tomorrow.
St Stives,
proof of funds must be provided prior to any offer being made, so unless this has been complied with “offers” don’t qualify.
Timbhoy 2.
Best wishes for the opp mate and speady recovery.
Waiting on a date myself for the same thing although I will be in the jubilee.

I have often wondered why they serve haggis at RB (Robbie Burns, not Right Back) dinners ….
if they wanted to do something truly authentic for RB, shouldn’t they be serving mouse stew?

I see Premier Sports has been allowed to move our Scottish Cup tie against St Johnstone to Sunday February 10. Now what that does, amongst other things, as Rabby might have said, is to reduce the preparation time we will have before facing Valencia on the Thursday. Us ,being Scotland’s only representatives in Europe an awe that. As Rabbi would definitely have said. And all in favour of a potential Saturday evening cup tie between Kilmarnock and Cowdenbeath on a plastic pitch!
Question, do we have any influence at the SFA? Any at all?
CELTIC MAC on 25TH JANUARY 2019 2:20 PM
You would think the SFA would help us in the interests of furthering Scottish football. Maybe we’re just not Scottish enough , or maybe the wrong kind of Scottish.
Maybe Eck Salmond is the right kind of Scottish?
