Do our job and hope Killie struggle at Aberdeen

483

Celtic’s run of games at home against low ranking teams continue tomorrow against Hamilton Academical.  These matches are always straightforward on paper but it takes lots of energy to subvert any team of professionals.  If we get a comparable performance in the opening period to what was on display against Airdrie and St Mirren, Accies will be in for a difficult afternoon.

Assuming Celtic do their job right, we can hope that Aberdeen take something from Kilmarnock at Pittidrie.  Killie are currently only a point off the pace, although Celtic have a game in hand, against St Johnstone next midweek.

With his new strikers playing so well, Brendan Rodgers will be in no hurry to rush Odsonne Edouard back.  I am also keen to see more of Ewan Henderson.

I once heard “We gave the world Hugh McIlvanney.” He was good enough to be a national boast.  He lilov Big Jock too. Sigh.

  5. BSR, truly masterful watching him deal with not so ‘subtle’ questions designed to trip him up. Have we ever had a more articulate manager, he makes put downs sound like compliments, makes me chuckle so he does.

I heard McIlvanney speak at a question and answer event. First half was about Jock and the lions and the second was the time McIlvanney spent with Ali. He spoke fondly of all of them and told a great story.

Maybe a good thing if BR and peter are on the same song sheet, not so good if not. Still a few days to go so hopefully we will be a rightback brought in.

‘The extreme depth of his courage did as much as anything else to take him to the edge of death. Boxing gave Johnny Owen his only means of self-expression. Outside the ring he was inaudible and invisible. Inside he was positive and self assured. It is a tragedy that he found himself so articulate in such a dangerous language.’

I know it’s been mentioned before , but Brendan is world class in press conferences. The press hyenas are fair scattered with their tails between their legs if they dare to raise the disapproval of the king of the jungle.
