Done in the name of Celtic fans

823

Saturday’s victory is unlikely to feature in the season’s highlights DVD but it was our ninth consecutive domestic win and despite a few shaky moments at the back we’ve conceded only twice during that run.  That compares to only three clean sheets in our nine previous domestic games.

Despite selecting from the same personnel, Celtic have a vastly improved defensive unit; comparable to last season’s record breakers.

Europe is different. We conceded home and away to Salzburg and Astra, keeping a clean-sheet only at home to Thursday’s opponents, Dinamo Zagreb.

Done in the name of Celtic fans yesterday:

Did you read that the Celtic Foundation hosted 120 people who use the services of the Glasgow Simon Community yesterday?  The Community have assisted the homeless for over 40 years.  Community chief exec, Lorraine McGrath, said, “Too many people still find themselves without a home; more than 6500 people registered as homeless in Glasgow last year alone.”

You can get involved with the Foundation’s work this Christmas by coming to the game a little early on Sunday and shaking a collection bucket.  As well as the Simon Community, the Foundation aim to help Glasgow East Women’s Aid, Spirit Aid, Loaves and Fishes, The Wayside Club, Glasgow City Mission, the Scottish Refugee Council, The Invisibles and Yorkhill Children’s Charity.

That’s an incredible amount of work to carry out in your name over the coming weeks.  You can sign up to help with the bucket collection here.  You’ll enjoy it.

The CQN Annual is coming off the presses this week.  It’s a full colour Celtic extravaganza.  Order yours HERE now in time for Christmas!

Not saying they are connected, but I have heard that they are latching on to the coat tails.Has to be nipped in the bud.

There was a collection of their work the other day and they had the GB Logo at the bottom.

We cannot afford to lose the GB.We know PL will not stand by.

I disagree, mate. If anyone is stupid enough to deface a real good Celtic pub like The Brazen Head, they need a good, erm, talking to.

If they’re daft enough to do that, then they’re daft enough to do the stuff at Tynecastle of which they have been accused.

People on here are trying to defend the indefensible simply because it has been reported by those who are no friends of ours. It disnae make it any less true.

Those responsible should be told in no uncertain terms to cease and desist. They make me ashamed by association.

I am not and did not apologise on their behalf. Nor did I condone or excuse any of the other behaviour that you are now bringing on to the charge sheet.

I merely added the information that I read on The Huddleboard which stated that apologies AND reparation was offered to the bar owner for their vandalism. Now, like you, I do not want my streets or CP defaced with the graffiti which this group would like to adorn it but it is still just graffiti, a mess and a nuisance but, provided it is not offensive, not the biggest problem in the world.

Perspective was what I asked for not excusing them.

If there are other reprehensible behaviours, worthy of action by the bar owner and patrons then I think it will be taken by them.

Some folk are daft enough to deface themselves by getting their soon to be exes name on their neck or a wrongly spelled Chinese or Hindi phrase.

Some folk used to graffiti jotters at school.

I think a reference to 1 instance of 1 piece of graffiti by an unknown individual who could be connected to any club is almost as sad as the person who deemed it newsworthy.

Rangers supporters are craving for a Celtic supporter to make some ill thought remark or chants on the Ibrox disaster. They have eh one example and that’s if it came from a Celtic supporter.

I wouldn’t go self flagilating over on erroneous clown.

    Bigchipsuik,

I think the deal for odeggard ( where did you get the fancy o) will be split of profit on future sale from a celtic. Maybe as much as 50 50?

Ronny seemed to be saying the boy wants to play football and progress his talent rather than being stuck in the Barca reserves. I think the fee for him was quoted as higher for a top club with it being led for Celtic. I would think the well on fee would then be part of the deal.

Eg Liverpool would get charged 4 million Now with Stromso getting nothing from a future fee. However, celtic get him for 2 and Stromso get 50% sell on.

Celtic Sell him for over 10, we get 5 they get 7 net for a player they would have got 4 for.

I have mate and I’m just not getting that. Writing on a lavvy wall, no matter how obnoxious it is, wouldn’t be the subject of a headline in a national newspaper if Celtic supporters were not involved. It’s a shame when one of our supporters shows us up like this but all we can do is call them out if and when we see it happen. The graffiti might have offended people but nobody’s been injured and I think most posters are asking for a bit of perspective.

“I thought daftboayishness as a defence was a thing of the past.”

I fear that, like the poor, it will always be with us.

“I thought that we had grown up as a support in the last quarter of a century.”

I think we improved when we stopped chucking bottles but I don’t think there has been linear improvement or that we have ever been free of fans we would rather not have.

“I thought we self-policed,and tried to be better than everyone else.”

There is an element of self-policing but it is challenged by the Ultra culture. They want to define their own way of supporting and don’t want to just carry on the tradition but re-invent it. Some of the things they invent will not meet with our approval and some will need to be opposed. I have no idea if we are any better than any other set of supporters at self policing. Self-praise is difficult to evaluate or take seriously. Equally so are views that stem from hatred and jealousy of our opponents.

“I didnae realise we were in the business of saving up our excuses till later.”

No idea on what that is supposed to mean.
