It’s a well-established fact that we don’t have Beckenbauer and Baresi at the back, so the reason why we chose to play so high up the field is the most alarming element of last night’s debacle.
Dedryck was bound to misplace a pass, or Efe was bound to misread play. We all knew this. Regret over the last time mistakes like this were made doesn’t mean they won’t happen again. So when the inevitable occurred, our two full backs were 30 yards in front of the line of opposition attack, with our defensive mids well into opposition territory.
Efe’s failure to cover Kamara and Dedryck’s pass were consequences of the main mistake of the night, which was tactical. We didn’t lose the opening goal because of a bad pass, it was lost because we left an acre of Norway unattended.
Ronny, you should never have left so much space at the back away from home in Europe, we’re clearly not good enough for such an open system, not even close. We’ve learned nothing since what was supposed to be a lesson in Warsaw, when the same expansive errors cost us. Molde played rope-a-dope football, they could have watched us against Malmo, Maribor and Legia, as each opened their home games against us in exactly the same manner.
It must be an absolute joy to face a European opponent at home who leaves so much space at the back, begging to be exploited. If we had played with the same tactics we used in Amsterdam I’ve no doubt we would have won the game – no one in that Molde squad would get into the Celtic team.
There’s more. After dominating possession and creating genuine chances, the defeat looked inevitable from the 11th minute when we went behind. Body language changed in an instant and Celtic went out like a light. I’ll spare you what I said at the time in case it’s misconstrued, but the evidence suggests there’s more to worry about than repeating the same tactical mistakes.
Celtic have nine months and one and a half transfer windows to get ready for the next Champions League qualifiers. There’s plenty of time to put things right, but we can’t sleepwalk into another failure. More immediately, we could be out of a cup if we don’t pull our act together this week.

On paper, tomorrow should be straightforward, but reality is our confidence is fragile , and their new manager has had a couple of weeks to work with them.
I would pretty much stick with he same team as Thursday, except maybe Blackett / Simu for Efe.
I can see tomorrow as being a drawn out turgid affair, similar to the recent Hearts game, so I would take 1 nil and 3 points .

Izzy & his positioning
Given Izzy’s position has him playing directly in front of the manager for 45 minutes every game, it’s fair to assume that the manager is happy with him playing as a quasi left winger rather than full back.
Carlton Cole
Don’t start him.
If we are struggling, either tomorrow or on Wednesday, bringing him on around 60/65 will give the place a big lift

On an unrelated note several “gooners ” in the pub around me getting all over excited about being top of the league, despite indifferent form in Europe, meanwhile in Celtic land this is known as a crisis. You couldn’t make it up.

I think Ronny Deila is getting a particularly rough ride from some people. It was 19 away CL games before we got that elusive away win if I remember correctly.

It used to be called the Junction now it is called the Great O’Neil it’s in Glounthaune. Mr O’Neil the owner came up to me a few nights after the proud unveiling of the new name and asked “what do you think of the new name Owen?”. “As soon as I find a great O’Neil I will let know ” was my reply. By no means or measures is everything rosy in the garden.
All I said was that things were not as horrendous as we’re being made out.
I have watched some truly awful performances in my life, I have been lucky enough to witness some truly inspirational nights at Celtic Park. I just do not throw my dummy away when things do not go as I want.
I believe Celtic are capable of beating anyone on their day I just do not demand that they win every game or else I am going to hold my breath until I am sick.

Tontinetim. sorry for my late reply. Hundreds of lives wasted at Dieppe, a complete tragedy. The Canadian troops were at the sharp end both in Italy and Normandy plus were involved in clearing out the german strongholds in the schelt estuary in the approaches to Antwerp
