Don’t limp home, omni-shamble contagion

696

There’s always a bit of trepidation before Celtic play a meaningless game, like they will do in Turkey tomorrow, the propensity to pick up injuries feels higher, although this is possibly not borne out by statistics.

Before Sunday the team look like they needed a break but no injuries, please.

It’s been a long time since I’ve heard allegations that some or other council are controlled by, and for the benefit of, an ethnic or religious minority.  This is an old-time prejudice, up there along with allegations of criminality or the personal hygiene habits of the minority.  But like Corporation buses, they come in groups.

Anyone can report Celtic for whatever they like, and believe me, many do.  Which is a great pity, as there are real targets worthy of attention elsewhere…..  For years, while others were buying football bling, Celtic were acquiring land, all appropriately, as is their borrowing.  More importantly, they have been able to establish all of this without question. Confirmed.

Just because one club was an omni-shambles doesn’t mean any others are.  Enjoy the laugh.

Too true. And in this situation it’s largely opinion that can’t be backed up by facts, which makes it all the more fun.

Not recently .. Used to drive through when the A9 was blocked .. My point anectodely expressed is that 50% of UK inward investment is in Lonfon ,Scottish employment in the public v private sector is imbalanced : the current arrangements are causing this – the current Scottish generation may need to take a hit on behalf of their of young kids – all the other religious , Salmond bullshit bollocks is just that bullshit ..

Mate I’m not saying air your concerns, I’m saying make damn sure things do change.

One way or another we need to stop the things you describe whether we get independence or not because it will still be law on the 19th of September regardless.

You personally may have had bad experiences but I could tell you a few going the other way. There are rotten people everywhere. Do not let them win.

Remember you are not voting for this government in September. This is something which will impact on lives for generations to come and this present administration before long will be another footnote in history.

I think when I see what is going on on a variety of levels within the UK the only way we’ll get change is with a YES vote.

I cannot take away your fears and I understand them but if we don’t try they’ll still be there and if you believe enough people on here Scotland is a living hell at the moment (which is also hyperbole).

Is it better to try and fail or never try at all aiming low in life and missing?

By your criteria we none of us would have the right to an opinion on most anything. All imo of course.

“Too true. And in this situation it’s largely opinion that can’t be backed up by facts, which makes it all the more fun”.

That’s my point……….the evidence, facts are that Grahame et al have callously used the powers of the state to attack young Celtic fans.

I do think fear, apprehension is reasonable as a result.

Your final statement earlier “The only thing that is certain by a Yes win is that the Scottish population will be entirely responsible for who ends up in power.” .

Based on the evidence of what guid Scots folk, like the Edinburgh jury, can deliver that’s a frightening prospect for this Tim.

I share your views, but how come all these football experts become political experts. And as far as the ex pats go, they can shove it. They bailed out on the ole country and should have NO SAY whatsoever on our political future. Me, I am a Scot, born and bred, and have absolutely no connection to any other country except england, on my fathers side. I desperately want Independence for my country and will most certainly be voting Yes. Indecently, my late father would also have voted Yes. :))

My opening gambit earlier was: it’s a gamble safety or prosperity…….

You are safe, I assume and want prosperity.

Some have lower motivational factors. You chose the term hyperbole, ? Contrast that to the real tangible evidence, eg Neil Lennon’s attacks and the silence of many.

  11. EKBhoy,

I respect and appreciate your point about London.

Its just what London is to England, Aberdeen is to Scotland.

Both are thriving and do not represent their respective country’s economies. Aberdeen has recently overtaken Edinburgh with the highest house prices and its infrastructure is growing accordingly. Very similar to the London you describe.

Many thanks and HH to you.

They don’t have a say on our future.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with expressing an opinion on it. If you were to discount a balanced knowledgeable opinion purely because it’s from an ex-pat, it’s only yourself you’re doing a disservice to.

  14. For all posters frightened of an Independent Scotland , forget the past , forget now , forget religious bollocks , think change think grandchildren … Think prospects the status quo is not the answer

All my English work colleagues are shitting themselves that Scotland will vote yes ( professional types … ) when asked they can’ t put their finger on it .. when it is pointed out it is the fear of change rather than the change itself (apologies for the cliche) the penny drops , a few of them are Change Mgrs

Continued faith in the UK political system is bollocks , broken beyond repair

They should not be attempting to influence any opinion on what happens in this country. They decided, probably correctly, to leave these shores. On that remit, why take any interest when the outcome will not affect them. Scotland for Scots. :)

    Much obliged.

  19. To every single person involved in the yes/no debate tonight, thank you. I think almost everyone who had an opinion before it started will still have the same opinion now. I have seen some good arguements on both sides and its certainly a topic that will run and run.

When it comes down to it, nobody actually knows with 100% certainty (apart from eddie lynch:) ) what is going to happen and how it will all pan out.

Whichever way you think it should go, you are still going to bed a Celtic fan and in my book that makes us all friends :)

Sitting in a London Hotel on the iPhone so comments are a bit brief .. With respect there is no economic comparison between Aberdeen and London … London is a black hole and for all the young folk living there that can’t afford rent , a house, to start a family , it is an outrage …… But hey the entire UK govt economic policy is based on doing sod all and letting the London bubble expand before the next crisis causes even more cuts cuts cuts …..

  23. Last point on non football , big Mate H at the footie (a lurker) asserted that currently the current public sector employment in Scotland is higher than East Germany under Communism.

This is under the current arrangements , it is not sustainable and the country needs to break from the failed Empire crap from Westminster,

I voted NO in 1979 and have been subject many years ago to outrageous employment discrimination , pointless dwelling on the past , it’s gone , future and prosperity is the name of the game …
