Don’t limp home, omni-shamble contagion

696

There’s always a bit of trepidation before Celtic play a meaningless game, like they will do in Turkey tomorrow, the propensity to pick up injuries feels higher, although this is possibly not borne out by statistics.

Before Sunday the team look like they needed a break but no injuries, please.

It’s been a long time since I’ve heard allegations that some or other council are controlled by, and for the benefit of, an ethnic or religious minority.  This is an old-time prejudice, up there along with allegations of criminality or the personal hygiene habits of the minority.  But like Corporation buses, they come in groups.

Anyone can report Celtic for whatever they like, and believe me, many do.  Which is a great pity, as there are real targets worthy of attention elsewhere…..  For years, while others were buying football bling, Celtic were acquiring land, all appropriately, as is their borrowing.  More importantly, they have been able to establish all of this without question. Confirmed.

Just because one club was an omni-shambles doesn’t mean any others are.  Enjoy the laugh.

  1. And another thing . It’s a pity we couldn’t, unleash George Galloway on that irvine guy , seems like he,s behind our bad press , and he,s going unchallenged .

Let me quickly add that many Scots are kind loving warm hearted and generous to a fault and that many of those are not followers of Celtic and indeed may not care for football. Regrettably their influence does not seem to be sufficient to have changed much and I can’t see independence being a catalyst for what I hope is the silent majority. Time will tell.

I travel to London a lot recently and am impressed by the interest an the debate on Independence vote

    But…

When I hear a Scottish person who has bailed out on us telling me that it will never work my answer is always the same

  6. Not only does this hallowed blog have “experts on football” it also has “experts on politics”. And I also notice that most of these “experts” are one and the same. Is this a peculiar coincidence, or am I seeing a trend??? Reading some of the comments, I imagine Google must be getting a bashing. Night Night Timland. :)

With Independence we will get a constitution, make sure freedom of religion is part of it, that protects your rights.

When it comes to schools- personally I would have NO religion in School but I respect the rights of people to have faith schools if they want them.

Do you honestly think that with a written constitution they will just take it all away?

    I doubt it VERY much.

If it concerns you so much then get involved, campaign and make damn sure that the things you hold dear are protected in an Independent Scotland

Paisley and North Renfrewshire MP Sheridan is a co-sponsor of the motion, which reads: “A small number of supporters of Glasgow Celtic have repeatedly displayed banners, some of which have promoted terror and attacked the bravery of British troops.”

The MPs go on to call on the boards of all clubs “to take action against those who promote violence”.

But Sheridan’s Labour colleague Jim McGovern last night defended Celtic and criticised the motion for singling out the club.

The Dundee West MP said: “Every senior football club have their minority of supporters who act in a manner that occasionally causes embarrassment.

“As I’m sure everyone is aware, Celtic FC have categorically condemned these banners.

“I would support a motion that was less partial in its criticism and which more accurately depicted the situation.”

A club insider said: “Mr Campbell has made a career out of attacking Celtic so this comes as no surprise at all.”

  19. Why should people who for their own reasons have left Scotland be listened to?

I’m not suggesting by any stretch you’re wrong to have those fears and I would never suggest that people’s reasons for their choice of vote are invalid.

My comment was on the general tone of the No campaign and the fact the motivating the electorate by fear is a tactic largely used by those mentioned.

What do you see as the most likely outcome of a No win in terms of your fears? Will things stay the same, get better or get worse?

Do you not think it’s interesting the those promoting a ‘No’ vote on the Huns sites are predicting the exact same outcome but from the opposite side ie more ‘taigs’ at the top etc etc?

Right now all outcomes are possible – regardless of which side wins – although some are more probable than others.

The only thing that is certain by a Yes win is that the Scottish population will be entirely responsible for who ends up in power.

I live abroad. I don’t have the vote but I have an opinion.

Had I known there was even going to be an SNP government bringing with it the prospect of a referendum I would never have left.

Just as I have connections to Scotland I am allowed said opinion and living from a distance can sometimes bring a fresh eye or a broader perspective.

Put it this way Cameron doesn’t live in Scotland or have the vote but it doesn’t stop him influencing the debate. I think I am doing it with better intentions that him.

  29. WeefratheTim @ 23.19 hrs,

I too share your sentiments however, unfortunately football and politics are now inseparable at this moment.

We are discussing our land deals and the political implications. Even our club has had to issue a statement. ( Correctly IMO )

The OB act which was a political concept designed primarily for football and more specifically for us.

The run up to the independence vote which will have massive implications for society but also for Celtic. IMO we cannot even begin to plan our future ( Different league, etc ) until we have a decision one way or the other.

It would truly be great to discuss only footballing issues, but political interference & implications are currently inter-twined.

So unfortunately c’est la vie and it will probably continue through 2014.

    HH, always in Celtic.
