My son just off the phone from Alicante there.

He met Fernando Ricksen last night with his wife helping him along the road.Said he was a skeletal figure.God help the fella.

  3. Tallybhoy…

Did you catch my post earlier?

I’ll be in Spain come the hootenanny, if your not of sunning yourself in Italy I’ll catch a few beers when I get back. HH

    PFayr,

I know that Dylan came on as sub for the right back.

I take the point that he only played less than 45 mins, therefore he would be fresher.

It doesn’t detract from the wisdom of Liam going on loan, rather than staying and fighting for his place.

He needs games, he needs to build his stamina and he needs to put on the weight that will naturally come with maturity.

He would stagnate at Celtic Park at this stage.

    Tricoloured Ribbon.

Settled sides went out when Bosman came in.

Top players are the masters of their own destiny, therefore, like you or I, they will go where they will get the best deal for themselves and families.

Mostly this involves going to a superior league, with greater finances.

Clubs can no longer hold on to a players registration as they did in those “good old days”.

  5. TRI…

    God help the bloke.

My mates Mrs passed with it. A horrible disease.

Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. HH

TRICOLOURED RIBBON. Fernando Ricksen is a really sad case I saw a photograph recently and although he looked like a skeleton the most shocking thing were his eyes. They were staring out of his head it looked a bit like that painting the scream. I can only pray that his medication helps him. H.H.

Son said Ricksen was pushing a wean’s pram or rather his wife was pushing it and he was just holding onto it.Dunno if it was his grandwean or what.

    thomthethim,

    Yes mate,that’s it.

Apart from the big sides very, very hard to hold onto players.

  9. Joe…

The body rots away whilst you are fully aware of what is happening.

I may slag off the huns in work (not all bad) but they dug deep for the charity night that was organised…fair play to the guys that bought tickets… Some I didn’t ask.

To be honest I shifted so many tickets that some folk thought the draw was rigged as they all put me as the non de plume :)

Time for my Sunday night pints.

    cliftonville celt,

No doubt I will run into yer central defender around 9 or so.

    I’ll be seeking info..;-)

  11. Joe Filippis Haircut on

GLENDALYSTONSILS. I think it is possible that Celtic have agreed a deal with Southampton to buy VVD but im fairly certain he wont be moving until after Tuesdays game. If we go through we would have the cash to bring in a centre back before the CL group stages if we dont go through and end up in the EL we use what we have until the January window. H.H.

  12. SIPSINI

    Yes saw your post earlier.

If I dont see you in October, see you during the festive season!

    HH!!

  13. Still buzzing over the performance and sum total of the positives that were taken out out the game yesterday.

The kids looking comfortable and confident on the ball. With Ronny’s philosophy of development, he must be jumping for joy over any number of the youthful faces he can give a game.

All 9 of the starters that are not considered first picks giving Ronny essentially a “second team” that will play for the jersey.

That one solitary pass by Scott Allan was verging on sensational- I’ve watched umpteen times. Early days, but if he can replicate that often enough, £275,000 is going to be daylight robbery.

By this time next season I predict we will be enthused over Tom Rogic as we are over Nir.

Leigh Griffiths’s enthusiasm, energy and oh aye…his goals.

Scott Allan laughing out loud when he heard “Scott Allan is a Fenian”.

    Celtic winning.

  14. The Comfortable Collective on

Well, ‘they’ say that in football decisions even themselves out.

In the Scottish Cup semi final last season referee Steven McLean (brother of ex rangers player Brian McLean) ignored a blatant and deliberate handball by an ICT player which according to the rules of the game should have been punished with a penalty and a sending off and which ultimately proved costly to Celtic.

Today referee Steven McLean gave Sevco a dangerous free kick (which resulted in their winning goal) for an innocuous and accidental handball which according to the rules of the sport should not have been given.

There’s yer SFA balance right there.

Henderson was the only player today (the goal scoring free kick apart from the Sevco player) who displayed any sort of SPL quality.

(Incidentally, Steven’s brother Brian, although born and brought up on the south side of Glasgow, made the choice to represent “Northern Ireland” as opposed to Scotland at international level, which was his right).

  15. At the risk of being accused of fearing Sevco – which I don’t – they were the better side today.

Whilst we would beat them, and so would Aberdeen and Hearts, I’d put them 4th best in Scotland at the moment.

They go all out attack and my Sevco supporting mates are loving it.

Few teams at that level have the quality to expose them.

If, and it’s a big IF, they give Warburton even a few million I suspect they will present a challenge. He’s well respected and the lad from Arsenal is a coup. If he does well, I expect him to, more will follow next season.

The 2 boys from Spurs aren’t great but are in their last year of contract so may join up permanently.

Hibs have 4 good midfielders but the rest are poor.

Cheers for all your hard work, it’s easily my most enjoyable “bet” of the weekend had the winner of the 2.00 York as my first pick but ditched as it was the same time as our game was on, same old story for a bad gambler (there are no good gamblers)

I thought Sevco and Hibs were both rather poor today.

Hearts won that league last year with a team they were building to hit the ground running in the top league this season.

Hibs and Sevco are rotten. And will be if they get promoted this season.

  20. Did Scott Allen no get booked for his first foul ?

Whatever, it didn’t merit a card from what had been and gone before, but I suppose it was his welcome to Celtic booking.

    Sips

You will be most welcome mi amigo.

  21. Watched the Everton / Mank City game. Who the hell is telling me Stones is worth almost 4 times that of Virgil Beckenbaur. It’s gotta stop.

What happened to the Stephane Mahe money, sack the board!!

  22. SAN DIEGO BHOY

Absolutely agree. When I saw the line up yesterday I thought we were in danger of dropping points, which didn’t bother me too much given the importance of Tuesday but absolutely thrilled at how that second string dominated. A very positive sign for the season and the future.

  23. Hugh Bonkle fae Dallas on

Guernica I don’t know which game your were watching the deady bears were rank. The classiest player on the pitch can’t even get in our squad. If Hibs had a striker worth their salt they’d have won that game.

The deadies only attacking threat was from their full backs and Hibs pretty much nullified that. Granted the winning goal was a brilliant strike but the free kick should not have been given.

  24. The comfortable collective – you must surely admit that Sevco have improved dramatically.

They play a style not totally unlike our own.

When you see the 2 fullbacks getting into such good positions and the interchanging of forwards it is second to only us in terms of pure football.

Where they suffer is that the CBs aren’t great and they have no holding midfielder.

Bear in mind that Warburton is only in his first transfer window tho.

He’s a pretty shrewd appointment. Very attack minded, plays in triangles and demands players constantly provide options, very focused on development and demands fitness. Ring any bells?

What sets us apart is Ronny has better players, has learned to be a bit more pragmatic in Europe and presses opponents more in Scotland.

If they back Warburton, and he uses the loan market well, it will be an interesting season.

There are more players like Denayer down south, and Warburton knows them more than most. If they got 3 of his standard, added a few Bosmans and bought a couple of players they will challenge us IMO

  25. My Fenerbache supporting mate in Seattle, reckons there was a small piece in the Turkish press where Nadir is quoted as saying his first brief from the manager is basically to take the hits and attempt flick ons for on-rushing midfielders. Any goals are obviously a bonus.

Before his move to Celtic he was largely unknown to the Turks, now he is being followed with increasing interest.

You’ve been on CQN for a while…. But are u indeed a currant bun?

Or at the very least Hugh Keevins in disguise ?

  28. Put it this way, if Leigh Griffiths was still playing for Hibs today, the bold sevco would have received a 5-1 spanking
