  1. Henderson is a very good young player, he will get more games as he gets older and he looks like he will get better with it!!! Midfielders usually into first teams early twenties Henderson is ahead of schedule hopefully by 21 he will have just under 100 first team games and he’ll he ready, hh

    GERRYFAETHEBRIG.

Agree that this season will toughen young Liam up.Of course they will have big attendances, that’s novelty for you. Most new things have curiosity around them Newco’s no different.

  3. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

Sky’s commentary of the Sevco game was outrageous

Crocker seemed in his element ……constant use of superlatives and hyperbole ….

It’s clear what their agenda is

  4. Tricoloured Ribbon.

Not sure what point you are making. Are you saying every players that isn’t sold is by definition no good?

  5. Kerry win by four points. Efe and Izzy never showed up for Tyrone.

Dublin play Mayo in the other semifinal next Sunday.

It was obvious that Liam tired.

That was really the thrust of my post, hence the comparison with the older Mc.Geoch.

I never saw the first half, but I fully accept the positive comments on him.

I felt it underlined the necessity of him going on loan at a lower grade, where he can build up his strength and stamina and hones his skills.

  7. At the risk of repeating myself…

    Ach, wtf…

Liam Henderson will be a future Celtic star.

Imo of course, and the opinion of many other posters on here.

The season-long loan to Hibs should do him the world of good.

    Regular first team football.

    He’s 19 ffs.

    HH!!

    pfayr,

Sky and BT have been flying the same club banner from the day they were liquidated.

Every game so far live this season.

Their tv schedule is Man United,Liverpool and the Huns.

The vast majority of people don’t know the Huns were finished.

The media have hidden it brilliantly.

Sky and a balanced match commentary?

    Oxymoron.

… a la ‘handsome hun’ scenario.

    HH!!

Why are we surprised by Sky and other media’s comments on Newco? This is a company which was allowed to go out of existence yet still exists. If it wears blue and plays at Ibrox then it’s Rangers. The Woolworths next to where I live sells the same stock and resides at the same location so it must be Woolworths. We are going to have to remind everyone of the truth. My favourite at the moment is taking pictures of things that are older than Newco and putting it on social media. If we don’t push the truth the lies will take over.

  12. Tricoloured Ribbon on

    SUPERSUTTON,

    Not at all.

I’m saying that every player who is good enough to go elsewhere will be sold.

    Forster,Wanyama,Hooper,Ledley,Matthews etc.

If Lawwell decides the price is right they are offski.

We will never have a settled side in Scotland.

  13. Any further details / confirmation / denial on the worrying report that big Virgil has been sold for a paltry £10mil and , more worryingly, will not play on Tuesday! Personally can’t see PL agreeing to this as even the most fervent of ‘happy clappers’ would be calling for his head if we lose to Malmo due to fielding a seriously weakened defence caused by the sale of our prised asset prior to our most important game of the season (probably all season). Other breaking news – reports that Jason D is off to Marseille on a seasons loan!

  14. TRI..

Feck the huns, as I do every day, they will creep back in as if all has been forgotten, not in my eyes and I’ll make sure the hunchbacked monkeys know it. HH

  15. It was on a dreary Monday night as the mist filtered through the relatively new Parkhead (as that’s what it was called back then) floodlights.

A wee schoolboy excited at the chance tae go tae a midweek game could hardly contain himself standing in the Jungle.

He had been visiting family in what was known as East Dunbartonshire at the time and was taken to the game by the male members of the family.

However, he was shocked at the treatment one of the home players was receiving from his own fans even though he scored the opening goal in a 1-1 tie. No matter that the captain missed a penalty, he was a target for the boo bhoys.

The same player who at the age of 20, then playing for Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, was struck down by tuberculosis meningitis. Tuberculosis bacteria had entered the fluid surrounding his brain and spinal cord. After he’d made a full recovery a film the Specialist had made of his treatment was shown around Canada and the United States. No one with tuberculosis meningitis had been walking out of the hospital alive, he was the star patient.

The same player who 18 months later Bob Kelly would hail as his secret weapon against the “continentals” (as he labelled the European sides) after coming on as a second half substitute, scoring one goal and having another disallowed as he tormented the mighty Real Madrid defence.

After the game the young lhad was put on the train at Bridgeton, “watch out for yer mammy at Queen Street”. On the way down the same player was being derided by the supporters “diStefani” they labelled him. She noticed his upset demeanor and comforted him with they’re only joking. He didnae buy that, why oh why are they so hard on a Celtic player he kept asking himself.

Well they were laughing on the other side of their faces 6 years later as diStefani scored the goal that took the Big Cup to Parkhead, as it was still called then.

diStefani is the fourth highest goalscorer in Celtic’s history only Jimmy McGrory, Bobby Lennox and Henrik Larsson have been more prolific than him. His 228 goals was the record until Bobby Lennox overtook it.

  16. Unsurprisingly it was Efe Ambrose at the heart of the vulnerability….

Direct quote from the chip wrappers. Now these halfwits aren’t smart enough to write their own copy so they go phishing on Celruc sites for their copy and we give it to them

Virgil will play on Tuesday, and hopefully he doesn’t cost us a late goal like last Wednesday when he left his 6yd area and took Biton out missing the ball from the corner……..

If (when) big VVD is for the off surely fair game to blame him for last week

    sipsini,

I know you have been surrounded with them all yer working life mate and you have made it known on here what you think of them.

    Fair play to you pal.

Unfortunately over the years Celtic in football terms have fallen away it is in most part not down to poor leadership but due to Finance. We are now a selling club but it is the type of club we sell to that should point to how things have changed. In terms of World football you could not call Southampton or Norwich big teams and yet they have come in with the money to sign some of our best players in the last few seasons Sky and now BT have made the EPL a land of milk and honey huge transfer fees and huge wages mean we cannot hold on to our better players next to go looks to be VVD and if Sparky keeps scoring he may well be next summers departing player. So we must continue to work hard to find new players to turn into stars not so we can compete at the highest level but so we can sell for big money to keep our great club in existance.H.H.

  20. OGLACH on 23RD AUGUST 2015 5:26 PM

Rest easy, do not believe the Daily Mirror. VVD will play on Tuesday. The fee will be £10.5 million, with a sell on clause.

    Jason alas mot to be…:(

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

*we had a maths teacher in St Pats who followed Celtic home and away, in fact I met him in a pub 5 years later after a win at swinecastle where believe it or not Stevie scored the winner.

As young Celtic supporters we used tae pepper him with questions. 2 that I can recall were “who’s the best winger at Parkheid”, this was during a period when Stevie, Alec Byrne, Bobby Carroll, a young Bobby Lennox and Frank Brogan were vying for the spots on the flank. His answer was Frank Brogan who was adept on both wings, he did say though that a wee red heided winger was showing promise in the reserves.

Next question was “who’s the worst player at Parkheid”. His response was Charlie Gallagher. 2 years later the same Charlie would cross the ball for what one of the Sundays would call “Billy’s Bumper” and a further 2 years on this feat was replicated with the goal the put us in the semis.

  22. If VvD heads down to the mighty Southampton FC tomorrow…

Pitchforks and flaming torches heading up the Celtic Way!

    HH!!

  23. On the day that both Chelski and Man City both win away from home the top story in the beeb is about a Scottish 2nd tier side maintaining their winning start.

  24. TT,

I think the player who disappointed me most was Alec Byrne. Week in, week out in the reserves, he was unplayable and then when he got his chance, he seldom showed anything. I think the best winger just about then was Eric Smith.

  25. TRI…

As my ma used to say… Life’s a learning curve son, always be better than thems.

Although for some strange reason, my ma had a soft spot for the royal family.

I could never get round that one…maybe because my granda (massive Celtic mhan) fought with the eighth army and she was proud of her dad.

Why I put huns to the sword re poppies…c***s are wearing them already.

Fair play to everyone that picked a rifle up but we didn’t have the privilege of hiding in reserve occupations.

Hope I’ve not started a poppy debate now. ;)

*scored one of the best goals I ever saw in a SC replay at Hampden over the Hi Hi. Unfortunately as you say he failed to turn it on regularly and was named “Alice” by the fans.

  27. Tontine Tim

Twenty five years after my Dad died, you have just highlighted his favourite player Stevie Chalmers.

He loved the way he ran every ball down. No lost causes for Stevie.

  28. Just noticed that Celtic have 8 bookings in the last two league games

    ICT Fouls 11 bookings 4

    DU Fouls 11 bookings 4

Are we that dirty or is my paranoid mind working overtime

Similar stats in the last two weeks

    ABD Fouls 10 bookings 2

    ROSS Fouls 15 bookings 2

    HAM Fouls 12 bookings 1

    MWEL Fouls 11 bookings 1

    This weekend

    HEARTS Fouls 14 bookings 1

    ABD Fouls 18 bookings 1

Celtic have had more bookings than any team in the league in the last two weeks

Celtic have committed 22 fouls in their last two games and have 8 bookings

Hearts have committed 31 fouls in their last two games and only have 4 booking

Aberdeen have committed 28 fouls in their last two games and only 4 bookings

Hamilton have committed 30 fouls in the last two games and only 4 bookings

Even today sevco committed 19 fouls ( in one game ) with only two bookings

  30. Saw the Sevco game up to their goal.

Thought they were staggeringly average. If Hibs had a striker they’d have won easily. I suspect they will go up this year but this team will need rebuilt in May if it is to comfortably stay in the top flight.

There was literally not one player in blue who impressed me.

Liam Henderson (terrible miss apart) was easily the most accomplished player on the park. The fact he can’t get into our team ought to be a sobering thought for the Undead.
