ERIK SVIATCHENKO predicts 20-year-old Celtic team-mate Moussa Dembele has a massive future in the game.
The Danish defenders has watched the Frenchman, bought for a bargain £500,000 from Fulham in the summer, notch 12 goals already in his debut campaign at the Hoops.unspecified-23
Sviatchenko said: “Moussa is a young guy, but is showing what it’s all about. That feeling that he can go through everyone, he showed that against Manchester City and it was nice to see.
“He could become a really good player, but he’s not complete yet – he still has things to improve.
“Moussa works hard and is always improving his finishes after training and you see it pays off.
“He’s dominant with his head and gets where he needs to be in the box. As a defender, his physicality and speed make him a nightmare.
“And he links up so well with his team-mates. That’s so important for a striker. He just needs time and he’ll get even better.”
Sviatchenko looked towards the next four Champions League games and said: “Our campaign started against Manchester City. I am trying to forget the seven goals we conceded against Barcelona and move on. It’s all about the points.
“We got a point last week and we are getting closer to what we need to do.
“We have a lot of games in this tournament and we’ll try to get the clean sheet we want. But the game wasn’t about that. It was about our performance and how we worked together.unspecified-25
“You saw them kicking the ball out of the pitch almost all the time. It’s a credit to our team that we created that stress on them. The draw sets us up to face Borussia Monchengladbach. We have the same mindset as we had against City so we’re looking forward to that.
“As a club, we belong here. We showed we can do something in the Champions League.
“City are better than us, but it’s about the collective – that needs to shine first and foremost.
“The atmosphere was special. When the Champions League song came on, the mascot I was with looked at me
and smiled. I smiled back because he was so happy.
“He emphasised the feeling the entire stadium showed. They carried us towards that point.
“These were the nights I had dreamed about. But the most important thing was the plan that Celtic had. I want to improve and the only way you can do that is to be matched at the highest level.
“I did okay against City. Earning a point against superstars like them is fine.
“It shows what we are all about. It’s about leaping the crossbar, as the gaffer says. It’s always about that step towards being a better player, being a better collective. Against City we showed it.
“We were ruthless in how we adapted to the game even though we knew it would be difficult. We kept going and showed we can stretch them and be dominant on home turf.
“We need to be relentless in the domestic league and show our skills in the Champions League.”
RONBACARDI: I get the thing with your wife. I decide to take up running at 45 to get fit; started off with a 2 mile run to see if I could do it. Took me over 20 minutes. Within a year I had completed 2 10K runs; within 2 years, several 10K’s and 3 half-marathons. Within 3 years I’d added a couple of marathons and a triathlon to that. Never fitter and never slimmer. Went to work in London for 2 years and put on 5 stone because I stopped running. Need to get back to it!
MNCELT: I put in the technology for the Ryder Cup in Gleneagles; it was the most amateurish setup and organisation that I had ever experienced (both the European and US Tour organisations). How they managed to get it up and running I will never know; unless there was a massive change in approach this time I am sure it would’ve been the same bumbling “just made it” scenario again. Not very nice people!
BMCUWP and MACJAY: Extract from Rule 12: HANDLING THE BALL
Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with the hand or arm.
The following must be considered:
the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an infringement
It’s all about intent: deliberate is a foul, accidental isn’t. Advantage or disadvantage doesn’t come into it.
sixtaeseven – Gardez la Foi I would say whoosft is most certainly onomatopoeic.

My friends in Celtic,
The week that has just passed has been one of the most enjoyable as a Celtic supporter for many years. It has not been easy, especially for the liver.
There was a run in Glasgow yesterday, a sort of half marathon and congratulations to all who competed. But on Saturday there was another marathon, not the junior event, but of the swally type. Celtic’s early kick offs need stamina ,endurance and a big mad alarm clock.
A marathon can cause many symptoms including exhaustion which can often result in hallucination. For example I imagined I was in a psychedelic record fair in McChulls. How crazy is that.
It was brill, groovy and my pleasure to meet more CQN’ers.
Earlier on we Watched the game in McChulls then wandered to the BV, following the guidelines for any Marathon. Plenty of liquids at frequent intervals. When we arrived at the BV a full scale eating frenzy was underway. Didn’t think many CQN’ers would be participating, so after a period of rest with necessary refreshments we wandered back to McChulls.
Apologies to all if we appeared slightly ” Elephants”. Just as well everybody was in the same boat. LOL.
It is never appropriate to single anybody out, but a special word of thanks to BMCUW. A genuine nice guy and organiser supreme.
Again : Many Thanks to all on Saturday; those that I had the pleasure to meet and those I missed.
You are Wan guy I didnae want to miss. I couldn’t get there until later on.
