Do you remember the game after the Cluj Champions League debacle last August? Of course you do, you are still chasing the cold from you bones, it was a League Cup encounter with Dunfermline at Celtic Park, where the Championship club took the game to extra time. The game, the only domestic cup tie in 34 games we have not won in 90 minutes, was six minutes from going to penalties before James Forrest settled things.
I don’t know what happened in the dressing room between Cluj and Dunfermline but I cannot imagine it is a happier workplace this week. This is Celtic and everything goes on the line every game. Let’s not have a repeat of the Dunfermline performance.
I know a few Motherwell fans and they are unanimous in their praise of David Turnbull, their star 21-year-old midfielder who joined Celtic on a reported £3m deal yesterday. Turnbull originally signed for Celtic in June last year, before failing a medical. A knee operation, and the best part of a year in recuperation, saw him clinch his dream move yesterday.
The question now for the manager is, how does he shape his midfield? Therein lies the answer to our season.
Welcome to Celtic, David.

MM…count me in!
“Odsonne will quit Celts, insists…” a well known hun stink pot…
Get a grip editor! Should never be on cqn…
Trouble in Paradise.
Although they would deny it, Celtic is run by a cabal whose ambition runs to a cushy life turning a small profit,
Nice one wee Bobby obviously seen the real hard times
like me.
But we’re still here supportin.

Im still totally scunnered by events on Wednesday night …….still angry at how how our club from the very top to bottom is run . If you have’nt already read the article on Celtic Underground ” The Meek acceptance of the norm ” it is definetely worth a read , sums up IMHO the nonsense that is Celtic PLC . My thoughts after the game were that Neil should step aside 10IAR season or not …..failing to learn from mistakes , no recognised striker starting the game and Another HUGE MISTAKE claiming that players aint performing because they dont want to be here. What the hell has he done to that dressing room. NOW Im hearing he is back tracking, any doubts I had about him walking are no more . Please do the decent thing Neil

Madmitch,
Decent teams with decent coaches are pushing us down the left hand side. GT, like Scott Brown, are seen as 2 weaknesses from an attacking sense. The stats prove that when JF is played in he is still likely to be our most accurate contributor.
Another case of bias interpreting what we see in the way we want it to be seen. The mind plays those tricks.
An upgrade on the left, Callum and Ollie being unleashed, Eddie back and supported by a striker will see a post-January upturn. If you want to shield (and feck knows why against 90% of the SPFL) then play Soro or replace him.
MADMITCH on 28TH AUGUST 2020 1:32 PM
Agree with your points
I really, really hate these CL qualifiers and even before Wedneday, i couldn’t see us negotiating all 4 ties.
Therefore, in some ways, it’s a bit of a relief to get the pain of missing out over and done with, in a strange way.
As for Turnbull, I was surprised that Sevco hadn’t been looking at him – he was pretty definite that he wanted to come here.
I imagine, there’s a gentleman’s agreement with Motherwell that he shouldn’t play against them on Sunday ?
A manager contradicts himself. Well there’s a novelty…. Not!
Neil is an effective professional manager the evidence is there, not just with Celtic.
He’s not a Klopp or Benitez or Mourhinho but the again neither are 99% of managers!
Last season we were very effective in the EL group stages, against quite formidable opponents. Why we rap it at knock out I just don’t know.
I beginning to think a manager famed for securing the back door first might be a better option for celtic some time in the future

All PLCs are just a protection racket to preserve the income, bonuses and benefits of the few folk at the top of it, generally at the expense of every other stakeholder
Celtic PLC is no different
I’ve just read James Forrest’s latest piece on Lenny’s interview today.
I know James comes on here the odd time so I’ll politely tell him that he’s talking nonsense.
Lennon was right to draw back from Wednesday’s outburst.
Calling it a sign of weakness is frankly pish. Had Lennon doubled down today he would have effectively been pouring petrol onto the flames of crisis following Wednesday. While compromising our negotiating strength on potential outgoings. Does James think Sevco have a strong hand if they start negotiating Fatty’s transfer ?
Now we draw breath and look towards building for a long league season.

I don’t think GT is getting enough support at the moment.
When we defend in that area the MF can be a bit detached / lacking in focus and the shape of the CB’s can mean he is a bit isolated.
When we played badly or were set up wrong KT looked exposed as well.
As for JF — no matter his stats there is the opportunity cost.
He can do very little very well — keeping his stats up but weakening the team.
Or you put someone else in who actively tries to work the position.
Leading to more productive output but more mistakes and poorer stats.
It is no use to be positive for 5 minutes and do little but pass backwards for the other 85.
On Wednesday night he had to be cajoled / shamed into being positive.
He is taking no responsibility and living off his reputation.
He needs to be dropped.
Unlike JK, Steve Clarke can organize a defense. Just saying.
Two great posts there from.. THROUGH THE RAIN..and LETS ALL DO THE HUDDLE
But they wont get much response.
Because they’re not emotional enough, they don’t tug at the aul Celtic heartstrings,
but they’re bang on.

Still really angry about Wednesday night.
Not just the result. Team selection, tactics, late substitutions and that interview.
To make matters worse yesterday, I had to get one of my dogs put to sleep.
Have to say the brother and meself neede a few bottles of stout to calm down after that shocker on Wednesday night. As far as I’m concerned this idea of home advantage with no fans in the ground is a complete myth, although the Hungarian bench certainly made their presence felt throughout the game clapping and cheering loudly the efforts of their team.
It was disappointing do see Elhamed, who is a fine footballer, being outpaced by yer man Topmac who had suddenly appeared off the bench to snatch the winner and then leaving the park just as quick for a defender.
Elhamed will be having nightmares about our friend Topmac.
Ollie Ntcham, who has been playing very well of late and Ajer, we all know they want away but both did ok on Wednesday night. We can get 40 or 50 million for both so off with them if the price is right. Hope young Turnbull is as good as reports suggest and at over six feet in height will add that bit of physicallity to the attack.
The young Pole, Patryk Klimala has shown up well so far this season and been on the scoresheet both pre-season and in the SPFL looking very pacey and sharp and certainly looks match fit. Perhaps Neill Lennon figured pace would be of little advantage against the packed defence of the Hungarians. Get him playing in the team.
Best for the team to draw a line in the sand and get back to business after the International break. There’s a title to be won and Europa League still beckons. A lot of good teams in Europa and cannot forget some great matches and performances last season.
Killie , Dundee Utd , Ferencvaros . 9/10 opponents between us and goal . All facing us while we repeatedly recycle the ball without breaking their lines . Eventually we lose possession or take a pot shot which misses what little we can see of the target or is blocked by the sea of bodies in front of the shooter .
Our best chances came when we got a man to the byline and cut the ball back . Unfortunately without the precision required to connect with a team mate . Other than that , when wee Jeremie came on and used pace and skill to beat a couple of men , that troubled their defence but once more without an end product .
I remember when Jamesie used to do that wee Jeremie thing .
MM
Like every poster on here, I’ll always have admiration for Lenny. But unfortunately his management style is Jurassic and unlikely to change. Wednesday night was another mystifying mistake in Europe, one mistake too many, Something he hasn’t learned from. We arguably have the best players in Scotland but we are not the best managed team. I would have liked to have a modern Dutch or German or even Scandinavia coaching team come in and turn the makings of a good team of players into a great, solid team who know how to defend and attack as a unit. I know it won’t happen cause Lawell ( if he had the balls to get them in) will have chased them in the first couple of weeks with his interference.
Watching Copenhagen v Man Utd , they kept their two rows of four throughout the game. Only tiredness got the better of them in the end. Why can’t we do that? Because we have Neil and JK sitting, puzzled in the dug out.
Love you to bits Lenny but it’s time to step aside
Has the SD — will he / won’t he — roadshow run its course?
Will go down as another fine mess that PL has gotten us into.
We are trying buy a player — it does not need to turn into a three act opera.
We’re beaten in Europe by teams like Ferencvaros because they have a coach. We have a manager. He knows nothing about tactics.
The other big problem is our hit or miss – usually miss – recruitment . We need a permanent Head of Recruitment/Director of Football.
GLENDALYSTONSILS on 28TH AUGUST 2020 2:14 PM
I think Jeremie benefitted from a knackered team at that point. James is important to our team and is certainly not a priority in our malaise at the moment.
Give it to him and he’ll be accurate with the ball.
Just reading back.
This place has gone to the dogs when a post describing the current Celtic manager as “an abusive stepfather” passes without comment.
We don’t care what the ……………………….
GDT @ 2.14
The mob on Wednesday made it easy for us.
They played a high press that we should have been able to play through if the CM x 2 had been on their game.
At times the high press was close to being suicidal with 4 or even 5 of their players being in our defensive third of the park pressing us into our box.
A good team would have picked them off like an otter playing with a crab’s legs.
However by that time we were playing with the fear.
Never a good place for us to be.
Re-watched the 2nd half in a more emotionally sober state and – tin helmet on – we were robbed.
Not saying there aren’t concentration, finishing and tactical issues but we will win the 10.
Even if any 2 leave.
We’re an EL side on the cusp of making Scottish fitba history. KTF.
BW @ 2.19
You are correct — JF is very accurate.
He gets the ball — does a half twirl and passes it straight back.
Rinse and repeat until the RB gets the message and looks elsewhere.
QF @ 2.21
Good teams with a bit of leadership / game intelligence deliver in situations like that.
Good players playing with the fear / no shape or tactics don’t deliver in situations like that.
They just spend all their time and effort finding new ways to fail.
I just wish Jamesie would mix it up a bit .Some excellent passing movements to put Elhamed through on the byline , but going at the defender can win you free kicks in good areas.
clink, Didn’t see that phrase used but if it was it should certainly e deleted.
I thought it was today the 28th that Boli and the Club were up before the SPFL Beaks , No smoke yet anyway.
Just a thought. If the bank balance has been spiked as a result of Wednesday and Eddie has to be sold. the prospective buyers will now be in a much stronger position by identifying our need for financial replenishment.
Hail Hail
Stay Safe
The team isn’t being managed to its full potential. That’s the concern.
Big Wavy………..James Forrest always a joy to watch when on his game with that ability to produce that special piece of magic.
Corkcelt,
The hearing is at 4pm today.

Topmac played from the start on Wednesday. He didn’t come off the bench.

How was it twisted by JJ?
Melbourne Mick….its a tough one in a potentially historic season…I would go for a change in manager but would need to know who the candidates would be…Neil in the sense that he’s been there done it would be a safe pair of hands. .or would he…as I said a difficult one…I like the Copenhagen manager Solbakken he seems to get the best out of his players tactically and in terms of fitness but he didn’t win the Danish league so who knows..it would be nice for Neil to lead us to the 10 if he stays let’s hope he can.
Thanks Yogi
