  1. I see no sleekits or trolls.

Only concerned Celtic supporters with differing opinions.

I do however see a Witchfinder General.

  2. iPaddy McCourt on

The first half display was so eye-bleedingly bad that I switched it off in disgust at half time and went out for a walk instead.

It’s utterly depressing just how much we have regressed.

Deila talks of a high tempo pressing game and developing youth. He then puts Mulgrew, who’s about as quick as a lame Clydesdale horse, into central midfield as soon as he’s fit again whilst the likes of Allan and Christie sit on the bench in a game against a team that’s 25 points behind the Lowland League leaders! And to crown it all he plays two wide players on their weaker sides of the pitch.

Nah, I’m sorry, but he’s clueless and so are his two assistants. Get them punted before its too late.

  3. Dontbrattbakkinanger on

This cheered me up the day- I hadn’t heard it before.

Ole clever clogs wee Bert Einstein said- ‘ only 2 things are infinite- human stupidity and the Universe.

And I’m not absolutely sure about the Universe’.

  4. Go tell the Spartim on

The beauty of being a club open to all is the wide diaspora of opinions including the bedwetters who get their opinions from the SMSM or some other blowhard looking to feist their “knowledge on all “.

Today was a training exercise with absolutely nothing to gain, those looking for another stick to beat us with really need so speak to an adult.

RD will undoubtedly go in the summer those hoping for it sooner are as myopic as their posts.

  5. glendalystonsils on

Today was no meaningful indication of our ability to rise from rock bottom.

Saturday v Ross Co will be though. Given a tough game yesterday by a committed Linlithgow Rose side, we should be able to offer the same commitment and a whole lot more besides.

Anything else will be very bad news.

I am here, well done Ronny and the bhoys cup games are all about being in the next round !

Your bhoy done well have a great night I am sure your bursting with pride

    Hail Hail

  7. Thought their keeper was excellent, a performance only bettered by Kieran Tierney who was our MOTM by a distance

  8. lennon's passion on

Only good thing about today was we were playing EK. Genuinely think we would have struggled against a half descent team. We’re a very poor team at the moment.

Away crowd IMO have decided it’s time for Ronny to go. Watched this movie many times over the years. There’s no way back for Ronny.

  9. On the subject of management. Ronnie was successful in his previous position granted. Who was his backroom team?

Collins and Kennedy were brought in to please the fans.

Ronnie needs his own team. Managers need to manage!!

  10. Dubaibhoy-Ur they still deid? on

Ronnie’s not going to get fired tomorrow, because if he did he’d have to be paid off and somebody else paid to manage – even if its just an interim role.

PL is an petulant accountant who refuses to be belittled by anybody. The Boerrigter situation is the Bobo situation all over again. Would be better for all concerned to settle differences, let him make a couple of appearances to attract a salary and a transfer fee and move on. Instead the guy is retained, not played and will probably see out the remainder of his contract while Celtic get nothing in return. How much is this costing Celtic – 1.5m fee plus 750k per year? About 3.7m quid? Thats alot of heated driveway to be chucking away.

  11. Is it only me that’s not getting these oblique references to “Sleekits”? Fairly disappointing that CQN is reducing itself to the stature of the playground, where cliques exist with the sole purpose of excluding or harassing others.

It appears the ‘Sleekits’ chat has the same motive as the ‘support the team’ and ‘don’t do the media’s job for them’ – that is, to utterly stifle dissent. To control the conversation and cut out, completely, opposing views or questioning our ‘betters’. I’ll be honest, I think it’s pathetic. And the people indulging should take a good hard look at themselves. What’s the point of a discussion thread without discussion? The “Sleekits” and “Green hun” drivel smacks of FollowFollow at its worst, where any dissent produces a “Sniff sniff” and “Timposter” avalanche of insult.

CQN has always been a pretty respectful and insightful place. It’s a shame that position is being eroded.

    /p

  12. Yet again a self obsessed little a’hole lets off a smoke bomb in the stand behind the goal just after CKR scored. Lots of coughing and spluttering for the rest of us. Hope they identify who it was and ban them.

  13. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Bit of a no-win there against a team with no ambition to get out of their own half or even their own box!

Into the next round unlike McGenius’s lot. Game time for the new signings.

Surprised by the BBC only mentioning the super Caley game twice! Someone slipping up there!

  14. Right Mr Lawell this is you’re mess, don’t compound you’re mistake by keeping Ronny. Ask Strachan to get us until the end of the season, reward him with big bonus to win the league.

Anybody who can’t see we need change now isn’t digesting performances, team selection, substitutions and team togetherness.

What the people who will clap us to mid table are saying is we should have an opinion opposite to the MSM.

Well having Been in Football all my days, my opinion is my own and the only way we are going is down.

    Change now.

This was a big improvement from the team today. Against a plucky, determined team who are going great guns in their own league on a dodgy pitch we were never going to find it easy, no team has a divine right to win any game. Today Ronny Proved his mettle with grinding out a win, whereas earlier in the week we lacked bottle to Ross County and Aberdeen, today bravery, heart, soul and spirit was there in shades. This is the kind of performance that makes me think Ronny might just get us to the champions league after all, and that the league will be no hassle for us. Today he was brave trying 4-4-2 and it paid off big time.

    In Ronny we trust.

If grown men with balls have a problem with another poster they should address them and progress their own arguments. I have no problem with this ( in fact it’s kind of the point of a blog like this).. TurkeyBhoy called me out earlier and I responded to him directly. I don’t take it personally nor do I think my opinion is more valid than his, nor his mine.

The Bankiebhoys of this world prefer to talk about sleekits rather than man up.

I almost 100% disagree with 67 Heaven and TD67 but I credit them for being men and directly responding to those they disagree with.

I share your bemusement with the Lilly liveried posters who prefer inference.

‘CQN has always been a pretty respectful and insightful place. It’s a shame that position is being eroded’

-well over the past couple of seasons the ole bhlog has seen more erosion than the ole Old Man of Hoy

  19. As one of a handful of resident EK/Celtic contributors I imagine I’m probably happier than most on here with the events earlier today. A win/win if you like – Celtic are in the quarter finals and EK didn’t get battered (Nowhere near it actually).

    paddybhoy88 – enjoy your night!

Celtic – were it not for my EK connection I don’t think I’d be particularly happy.

  20. Huge Congrats to our own Paddybhoy1888’s Bhoy Matt – MOM performance against his hero’s :-))

Very well done Matt, you done your family proud

    Controversy now

I was glad to see Charlie Mulgrew get some game time, I think he is our best defensive midfielder and will be needed to help us win the league – I hope

Not confident though with Ronny in charge

  21. Guys

Am glad the the issue of the ” sleekit” tag is finally being discussed.

It is all about respect. Respect of opinions different from our own.

    HH.

  22. One other thing

For a manager with a reputation ( I had never heard of it mind ) for building up and improving players

How poor has James Forrest got ? ( I could name a few more), And as for our crossing into the box, dearie dearie me

  23. Scott Allan – I honestly couldn’t tell you for sure if he’s any good but he looks to me like he’s got something about him and I’ve heard a lot of good things. So i can’t understand why he wasn’t given a start today. Looking at his face, he looks raging and no wonder. Probably sick of the dead mob ripping the pish out of him.

  24. anyway, Sunday night..bit of football still to watch and something called the Super Bowl goes on for most of the dark hours.

Great to be in QF draw, no idea if we will have RD in charge for semi final (hopefully). Have to say that all the body language experts would be saying that the RD is toast.

  25. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

Paddybhoy, what a performance from yir bhoy!

    Out in 32.

  27. There is no balance on this site, a player is either dire or brilliant. Celtic are either fantastic or pish .

Wouldn’t read much either way into today’s display. We dominated and won easily as of course we should but we didn’t impress.

I thought it was a day to start the likes of Christie, Allan & Roberts but Ronny decided to use it as a trial game for upcoming games and gave Efe & Charlie a run.

I was a James Forrest fan but must admit I have run out of patience.

Next 3 or 4 games should finally tell but there is no doubt that Ronny is standing on a trap door, it may not make sense but I can see him finishing this season but getting replaced early close season.

I remain an eternal optimist regarding all things Celtic and can’t wait for next outing when I expect we will be brilliant.

  28. The best Celtic team ever, on the verge of a historic quadruple, attracted 34,000 supporters that day, the rest patiently awaiting the arrival of the Internet.

  29. leigh griffiths magic wand on

Another crap performance. James Forrest is lucky if he plays 2 decent games per season. Now he looks like Bobo balde did passing the ball whenever he shoots. He managed to jump out of a couple tackles today also. I’d never offer him another contract as the ways teams play against us in Scotland with everyone behind the ball limits him effectiveness which is only that he is fast and sometimes has decent control. He can’t cross . Can barely cut the ball back and his shooting is getting worse every season. Mackay Steven put in 1 decent cross but like usual nobody attacked it. Either that’s cuz we have nobody brave enough to get in the 6 yard box or they were just all surprised the ball made it past the first defender. Also I noticed a couple times mackay Steven could have played simple cut backs and couldn’t even get enough power in those. Since when did Efe Ambrose become a right winger or even a right back that can put in decent crosses. The answer is never yet our management team think he’s all of a sudden going to start pinging in decent crosses in this game. It is beyond a joke. The only player that consistently put in decent balls was out left back. Mulgrew would be better deployed in left midfield in a 5 man midfield he is far too slow for central midfield. But at least his crossing is decent compared to everyone else bar Tierney. Our best midfield to try win the league this season may be mulgrew on the left, brown on the right and biton, johansen and rogic as the middle 3 with rogic being able to use his close control and he at least tries to run centrally through teams. If mulgrew has to play it can’t be central midfield. With all the talk our manager has about us playing high tempo pressing game I’d have thought we’d have looked like Barcelona do against other teams against this team of amateurs but we looked exactly like the crap slow team we do in almost all games apart from maybe 3 or 4. Sviatchenko and tierney were our best players. Boyata played well also. Manager also keeps playing too many ineffectual wingers each game. He has to pick 1 player out of them all since none of them tackle or cover or do much of anything they can’t even do their proper job right by putting in decent crosses. Maybe he should try out Scott Allan from the start or Ryan Christie instead of giving them 10 minutes at end when rest of our team can’t be bothered to try or make any runs.

  30. This blog i blog has descended towards the realm of who is the bestest Celtic supporter recently.

I tend to only post during and after games.

Usually most of my nonsense is ignored.

Tend to get most replies from the bestest when i critique coaches or board..

Have been trying to converse on the central midfield issue all season but rarely got indulged.

Shame as i think this is a personnel problem more than a formation issue and needs addressing.

Today highlighted this again when we slowly passed it upfield and waited till they were defensively set before going wide and hitting hopeful crosses.

  31. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

Brown, Mulgrew and Kazim- Richards need games if they are going to be of any benefit to the squad.

    They got that today.

Allan and Christie will be in the team sooner than later.

I didn’t expect to be entertained today and

    I wasn’t disappointed..

I didn’t want to see my old town team humiliated and they weren’t.

For the day that was in it, that is all that mattered to me.

  33. Thought we were never going to learn much from today’s game. We were always going to win and seldom do you see complete annihilations these days.

If anything, today confirmed Ronny’s conservatism as a coach.

As for the BBC, I think the commentator was disgraceful. Never have I heard him or any of his colleagues speculate about a Rangers manager in the way he banged on about Ronny. Clearly the media are keen to get back to the “Celtic in crisis” headlines of days of yore.

Regardless of what we think of Ronny’s future, I hope we can all agree the pushing of this agenda is sinister and appalling.
