  1. SFTB

As ever Tony, the voice of reason…..apart from the JF comment ! The wee chap is an imposter who no longer wants to be here.

Tierney Sviatchenko and Griffiths should be first picks every week.

    Hope you are well.

Where have these Lenny stories come from?

  3. I thought today at least Charlie M made forward as opposed to sideway passes

Don’t understand why Forrest on left and GMS on right

Thought Griff had a selfish day. Had many chances to play a team mate in and didn’t and tried flicks and tricks he wouldn’t normally

Maybe a day not to judges as lose lose whatever happens

I hope Lenny is back however, and soon

  4. See this ‘support the manager’ stuff. What does it actually mean?

Is posting on a blog claiming that Ronny’s the man going to make the blind bit of difference?

Most supporters I know don’t believe he’s good enough but I wouldn’t imagine for a second that they’ll start shouting about once inside the stadium.

  5. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Hi all. Good posts as usual.

Not overly bothered today. Pretty rubbish performance but job done.

Erik was MOTM with KT very good. Most of the others were somewhere between poor and fair but two ‘deserve’ a special mention.

Poor efe’s time must be up. The guy could look ordinary in any company. Afraid Lennon ended his Celtic career with his selection for the juventus game. A shame.

Tin hat time maybe but I don’t think there is a single person on earth wearing football boots and a strip that James Forrest wouldn’t be intimidated by. A ‘pacy’ winger would be licking their lips at the prospect of being set loose against an amateur defender. A real lack of courage, application and, frankly, intelligence. Comparisons a few years back between this guy and Jimmy Johnstone are an insult to the bravery and determination of our best ever player.

    Hail hail

    Auld Bertie

I’ve got pretty good reasons for watching Aberdeen.. Born in Dalmarnock I rarely missed a game as a youth, now live 20 mins from Pittodrie and have a son that plays school , boys club and regional select.. I’m out most nights and Sat and Sun ferrying him about.. I’m also a Highland League attender .. But Celtic are my birth right and I’ll always say what I think is best for them.

East Kilbride – A good PUB Team

WE struggled to break them down.

If you think that a win is a win is a win then you are deluded.

If we would have played the huns today we would have been knocked out.

    Good post…and quite right.

  9. Enjoyed my day out with the family at the EKFC v CELTIC match

Good to see a packed stadium with plenty of kids in attendance

The game itself was how I thought it would play out , pass and move with as little as

    possible contact .

Celtic through to the next round and EK left with their dignity and confidence intact.

Credit to EK’s coach for assembling a good bunch of guys making it competitive

Also a big well done to Mathew their goalie , I’m sure his dad will be able to sleep

better now its all over :))

  10. The Green Deila on

Agree, not a great performance but booing the team off after a victory is just plain wrong sorry.

  11. Go tell the Spartim on

God people hoping for Lennon to return you couldn’t make it up.

If RD gets replaced and it’s more a case of when now, sadly, what’s the new guys remit, from the consensus of bedwetters on here and elsewhere, he’ll have to beat every single team domestically, home and away by at least four goals and at the same time every single player will need to be shit hot. You know the way we used to play when ……………………… The grand self entitlement on here is identical to the tribute acts finest.

SMSM sheep, that’s why they still peddle their pish and the Plc let them get away with it

  12. Green Man/Cults boy

    I salute your indefatigability .

    There,s only two Andy Gorams……

  13. The Battered Bunnet on

Met some good friends today, some wearing Kilby scarves, some Celtic, many wearing the two-tone ‘friendship’ scarf that splices two clubs’ colours into one.

Would have bought one for Hamilton Tim, and dear JoBo of course, but the vendors had sold out and skyed the park.

It was a hell of a day, boys I’ve known and coached over the years growing into men in front of me, young, anxious men playing the top team in the country, in front of their families, their friends, and a live TV audience. And they stood up to it all. Special mention to Craig Howie, 19 years old and up against Griff and CKR, covering the space, making the hit, walking the ball out of defence, completing the pass, time and again.

Can’t deny I had a lump in my throat at the end up.

Football. What a game. What an adventure.

  14. Re Neil.

    On football grounds, yes.

But for his own sake, no.

Twice is enough for what he went through up here, and he’d become the focus for Zombie anger and their totally unjustified desire to take revenge for what they imagine other people did to their cheating, now dead, club.

    Stay away, stay safe, Lenny.

  15. Jungle Jim Hot Smoked on

Only one poster made this comment:

“East Kilbride – A good PUB Team”

but it does reflect how little many people on here know about the various levels of football which exist and how good a player one needs to be to make it to the professional level.

Spot on,a disgraceful reaction making those involved closer to Huns than they think.

  17. Jungle Jim Hot Smoked on

I meant to add that I thought EK played good football on the very rare occasions when they were able show their ability. The score was 2-0 but the gulf in class was bigger than that and Kilby can feel good about themselves for the way they stuck to their difficult task.

Well I am looking forward to the draw tomorrow surely we re due home tie. I dont really care who we get on our day we can beat anyone.H.H.

    Big Peat of Islay

    A bit harsh on EK..

They have a few decent players who have been on fringes of Pro football. Including products of our own system.

That said I would expect us to take 5 or 6 off them.

One thing I thought today was that ( like Highland League) lowland league teams are closer to SPFL Premier than they shoud be. Probably because top standard has dropped but also semi pro level has improved. The outcome of pro youth set ups over the last 10-15 years. Producing a good level of disciplined and organised players… But probably stifling the elite player development – hence the differential is narrowed.

  20. HT 8.20

    I often think that.

I think that most who post such drivel actually rarely attend the matches ,especially the away matches.

  21. Go tell the spartim

Mentioning the MSM is a sure sign you are on the wrong side off the argument.

Seeing posters on here ridiculing the MSM for spinning on Sevco’s behalf, then coming on here and spinning on Celtics behalf would be funny if not so serious.

Ronny must go now to give us the best chance of retaining the title.

It has got that serious that this year I could not care less about the Scottish Cup, just win the league.

  22. TBB

Lovely to see you again today. Your boys certainly did you proud and themselves justice.

Matthew in goal and the big number 5 were absolutely excellent.

I hope you all enjoy your night, you deserve it.

  23. THE BATERED BUNNET

Well said! I have been in similar situations. I remember having to leave a dressing room when my under 18 team lost a penalty shoot out as I could not bear telling the lads they had done everything they were capable of but still we lost. It’s a sore one for the EK teams but they will, learn from it .

As for the stories about a new manger or coach, such is life ….Celtic are bigger, better and greater than the sum of all their current parts. We move on, we are more than a club..

    Hail! Hail!

  24. Wife just said, “Put the football on if you want, I’m looking at a site that tells you how to treat your hydrangeas.”

“They’re deid!” I said. “It’s yer hydsevcos noo!”

C’mon, TBJ, you have to admit, that’s no bad!

  25. johnnybhoy

I thought the JF comment might provoke. I fancied a bit of shock-jockery.

    SID

    “SFTB

With respect you’re post is garbage.”

What??? All of it?? Even the bit where I was glad that the Zombies never won? Are you a h**? :-

“You think Ronny will do? cmon get off that fence.”

Don’t you have enough people on your side of the fence?

As it stands, my defence of Ronny is a bit of a surprise to me. My archetype of a manager would be between WGS and Steve Bruce, a strong emphasis on defence, and a determination not to get beat. But Ronny intrigues me. He challenges players to be better than they are, as a good coach should and, during this period when many of the rest of our support are waiting for some manifestation of the zombies to make their football life complete, I would like Celtic to take that challenge.

Those that are scared that we might not win every game against the Ibrox club by a humiliating margin need to toughen up. No matter how often we beat them in future, and we will, they will win an odd game here and there. They might even, if they survive their trials, get close enough to mount a title challenge in 5 years or so but they are not a threat to us currently and they are not about to be.

We need to stop fixating on a threat from them but feel free to continue laughing at them. I wish our support thought differently about them being in our division but I know that many want them to be playing us.

Sad, it is, but such is life.
