Edouard pushed out Celtic transfer record

911

Celtic have activated a clause in their loan deal for Odsonne Edouard (20) with Paris Saint-Germain to sign the player on a four-year permanent contract.  The deal will cost the club an initial £4.5m but the add-ons which follow will soon make the deal the club’s highest transfer fee paid.

To give some perspective, Celtic last broke their transfer fee record with the £6m purchase of Neil Lennon in 2000.

Watching Odsonne develop during his loan period has been an education.  Brendan Rodgers put Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths on the bench to allow Odsonne the game time he needed to grow.  His early-season rustiness was history by March, when he came off the bench when Celtic were down to 10 men at Ibrox, brushed aside what defences there was, to score a memorable winner.

The last player to match our record transfer fee was John Hartson in 2001.  Like John then, Odsonne is third choice striker, so the work does not stop here.

Great business, well done all concerned.

  2. On tonight’s performance in the centre of the Swiss defence I would say Shar looks like a bargain at £3.5m buy out clause. Hope rumours are true.

My twins are looking forward to meeting you in Dublin shortly. I’ve warned them if they let you buy just one drink I’ll disown them:-)

I missed most of last season due to ill health I lost more than 5 stones in 4 months, every time I ate some thing I brought it back up within ten minutes,I never saw a doctor for about a month, and he gave me hell for not contacting him sooner,I always thought I would get better Typical me, stubborn idiot.when I told the doctor that I have losing weight, he took blood samples and sent them away to the lab at the Hospital and it took them a while to find out what was wrong it took about 3 months for the Dr to get the results from the hospital and in the four months I lost over 5 stone, one thing good came out of it was I lost my Diabetes,I was taking 8 tablets and two injections a day,so it was a blessing in disguise now I only take 8 tabs per day for other ailments.

It cost me a fortune to buy more clothes, but I’m getting better slowly,I must be fine as I renewed my season ticket for this season coming,

Also like wee Shaquiri, the other shakira is no the worst either :-) low centre of gravity with the Swiss one reminds us of Lubo but the Stoke one couldnae lace Lubo’s boots…. loved Lubos reaction after each of his goals against the original cheats in the 5-1 game …. as our Shug Keevins stated we should have pushed the boat out for John Spencer ? Instead of some unknown 33yr old …. journalist ma bahookie !

Bloody hell. That must’ve been a worrying time, but seems you’ve emerged stronger.

You’re Doctor was correct D. Any issues you need to get in there ASAP but then I’m being somewhat hypocritical as I often avoid the doc myself.

Good to hear you’ve renewed your season ticket. You wouldn’t want to miss a treble treble and 8 in a row eh!

Need a centre back a right back and we might surprise some folks this year D. In CL I mean. Domestically we will be too strong I feel.

Should be a good battle for 2nd 3rd and 4th again between Dons, Hibs and Sevco. Hearts might improve a bit too.

Good job BR is in charge and not me. I’d be going back to the old 2-3-5 with a frontline of Forrest, Edouard, Moussa , Griff and Morgan :-))

I stood in the Jungle from 1973 to 1979, towards the Huns End, with my uncles and cousins from Dalmuir and Clydebank.

Will never forget that feeling, aged 13, when the back of your leg turns warm, and you realise somebody’s pishing on you, and it’s regarded as normal.

KevJungle – not everybody likes that as part of the matchday experience. Nor do they like the glint in the air that means incoming bottles, or the launching of bottles in reprisal.

So when you get all nostalgic about the good old Jungle days, remember that stuff, just for balance.

    Hope you’re grand anyway.
