Anyone think Hooper was making any effort for us lately?

Not sure about the cash position of the Irish Raj, but every little helps.

Right, for the next CL qualifier I want to see 2 new experienced centre backs, one tall experienced left back, a quality attacking midfielder and a striker.
There, that’ll sort it!

Everything stuck with Bangura, he was what we needed to feed the wide players tonight.
Can’t make my mind up if it was that he was good, or that Ambrose was custard!
He was bullied out of it.
There was hee haw between him and broonie btw, prob happens in training all the time.
Jeez I ave done hell of a lot worse to my bro at five a side!
Any way in the past we would have lost those games, so the tide is in our way

It’s a good job Elfsborg were shoite or we’d be out. We beat better teams ,more convincingly in the qualifiers last season, which shows you that we have gone backwards.
Need to build some quality into the side before the next round.

The first leg of the play-off round is 20/21 August.
Then unfortunately Kelvin is going to be difficult to replace – history has proven this to us, the defence has been the most difficult thing to settle in recent years, and in particular, the centre backs.
There is an argument now we’ve come through tonight for investing properly in a proven CH player – we’re not in a position to try and blood a youngster again over the next year. We should be investing the £2.5M from KW’s sale and doubling that to make sure we have someone that is well experienced and will settle in more quickly.
ASonOfDan on
Celtic’s potential opponents in the Play-off Round are Austria Vienna, Maribor, Ludogorets Razgrad, Shakhter Karagandy & Legia Warsaw/Molde.
Do not want Shakhter Karagandy as surprise package of qualifiers so far.

Neil’s comments that his two centre halves were outstanding has got to be to keep the pressure off them, they were bullied all night by Bangura, Izzy dreams wants an extra touch and has no pace, but we are through hopefully get something near a full team out for the next two CL games, and please if we do not have a goalscorer sign one not someone who wants to go wide like GS and AS
I’d love to see Barcelona play Elfsborg on that pitch.
Maybe they are good enough to tiki-taki on any surface – or maybe they’d get humped.

Appalling performance against a pub team miles away from CL standard.
The positivity of some on here is in stark contrast to other Celtic forums.
The quality which helped elevate our team last season is currently in Southampton and Norwich. Our willingness to cash in jeopardised our path through this tie and continues to risk our CL participation.
Time we belatedly prepared for this season.

Away onto rm to see if they have congratulated us…… LOL
Celtic bit the hand off NF the 2.5m for KW and we need a much better player than him, – he’s a Bosman and we like it when we get monet back on them.
No attempt to replace Wanyama *Impossible says NL* Hooper not replaced, and we won’t spend until after the draw, and even then remember we’re conditioned to expect that Celtic can spend only £2m max.
We prefer to self destruct and are busy splitting up the support in section 111.
Half decent Euro team would beat Celtic, miracle that Elfsborg didn’t get a break from Ambrose Wilson or Izzy.

I think we should be holding onto Kelvin Wilson until after the next qualifier is decided. What difference does another couple of weeks really make to him or Forest? We’ll be playing a crucial match with a relatively untested centre back pairing if we let him go. He didn’t have a particularly great game tonight but he’s been excellent in several European games for us.
The pitch was horrific tonight and that has to be taken into account.
Delighted we’re through and that we’ve got guaranteed European football until Christmas. Based on that performance tonight, the Europa league is probably our level but there’s still time to sort ourselves out with a couple of new players. Over to the board – time to spend some of the many millions earned from Europe and transfers in the last year.
