I’ve spoken to many Celtic fans over the last couple of days but I’ve not met one who would have preferred Roy Keane to be our manager instead of Ronny Deila. Despite some impeccable references, Ronny is a largely unknown character, but there is an appreciation among the support that we need to come up with a plan to enable the club to over-achieve in Europe.
The man’s performance at the media conference was faultless. It’s not important to quick-witted but his use of words like “energise” and “offensive” is promising. Football is in the entertainment business and Ronny appears to appreciate the link between the way his team perform, not just their results, and the ultimate satisfaction supporters’ leave the ground with.
Our thanks to the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club for hosting last night’s CQN Lions fundraiser for the Celtic FC Foundation. We were fortunate to be entertained by Willie Wallace, John Hughes and Bertie Auld, it was a fantastic night, full of laughs.
Special thanks to those who attended and helped raise over £2000 for the Foundation, and to those who promised to get involved with the Foundation. The club is in good hands with supporters like those in Greenock last night. Big shout to Joe and Mick for bringing a familiar old friend along.

What freedom?
The freedom of the Granny flat.
The freedom of the side door.
The freedom of the garage.
Children’s crusade led by a political soufflé.
All hot air, Brigadoon and Burns Suppers.
Travelling in hope with no time for the hard questions.
Wee Eck has degraded the Seperation question beyond irony.
We are being bought and sold with a Bus man’s gold.
Joke media holding a joke question to account.
We cannot support a quality football league yet some want to go it alone politically, economically and socially. Get a grip.
Kit, what about the chancers who are working ’casual’? Should we let them in for free too?BTW I am oot ma a tree on some Greek Island. BTW again, I also think Ernie Lynch is brilliant. And I mean that. Hail
Hail to most of you.
Greenpiñata,
I believe Hull would have earned just about the same from Sky TV revenue last season as we earned in total turnover.
Sadly we cannot compete with Premiership on financial grounds

I’ve really got to go mate. but ask yourself this, how much does our ambition cost?
What is our ambition and how much does it cost?
What price a dividend?
I don’t support Celtic PLC
I’ll happily die not supporting Celtic PLC.
If push came to shove, I’m really struggling to find a reason to waste what is left of my life pretending to lend my simple voice in support of the Club I used to know as Celtic.
Can I qualify that, can I quantify that, I think I can, it’s whether I can be bothered.
Guys,
I’ve just been informed by Mrs BB that my beloved mint green suite (2 x 2 seaters plus a single chair) is being replaced after 10 years sterling service due to an imminent major refurb of the hoose.
Also, a slightly less loved but good condition Morris of Glasgow circular mahogany dinner table (which can extend to seat 6) & 4 chairs is to be replaced by a modern Scandanavian thing. (It’s all the rage, apparently).
If anyone on here is interested or knows anyone who would be, either or both are available on a Bosman.
I’ll probably be lurking here for the next hour or so.
Lots of stuff on SNP, tories, socialists etc etc on here today.
This is my opinion on it, it is an opinion, one of many no doubt.
When people start out in politics where they politically stand no doubt matters to them.
Whether they are labour, tory, socialist, green – whatever, it doesnt matter as i believe that they believe in their politics and think if they make it to the top they will make a difference.
It doesnt matter who is in power, here in the uk and in the usa, the outcome is always the same.
We, the people, get ass shafted – repeatedly, with no lube.
It does not matter who is in power.
Not one little bit.
What happens to these political people when they get to the top is anyones guess, and there are many, many theories on this.
But as a rule of thumb they fill there pockets and their political sponsors pockets and we the people get it in the @ss and dont sit down for a very long time.
I appreciate everyone has a point of view on their own political beliefs but and it is plain for everyone to see. Once you reach the top echelons of power your political beliefs go right out the window and they precede to pump us, the population.
Right now there is a political war going over as to who gets to rape the inhabitants of scotland.
It does not matter who wins because regardless of the snp or the “union” we the people better bend over and be prepared to take it in the…….well you know the rest.
Mark my words, regardless of who wins the referendum we the people will not be sitting down for a very, very long time.

Can somebody explain the difference between a push and a shove, and what happens when one comes to another?

Thanks to both of you for replying to my earlier post. Both of you have given me the clearest information I have read to date. I’ll now do further research. Thanks again.

Fair enough.
As a probably NO voter I just think those without a vote shouldn’t interfere as I think they sway folk towards YES. I should back off.
Ernie can and will continue to butt in to something he doesn’t have the ultimate power in; a vote.
Well that killed the blog, everyone looking for ‘special’ cushions?
TBJ, my son is fed up of me stopping and chatting to other fans I know. He wants us in the stadium quickly. History and someone like Charlie, he is unaware of two of Charlie’s corners being so pivotal for us, doesn’t interest him at the moment.
Heraghty’s had a Lisbon twentieth anniversary night. It was a brilliantt. Cesar walked into the bar just as he was getting presented with the big cup on the tv. Great timing.
About half an hour later, Charlie came in with McNee. Big Billy left pronto as soon as he saw McNee. Most in the pub wanted McNee to clear off.
Wtf is going on with the political infighting
Do I really need to explain politics to you all
Unionists..nationalists…..chancers more like
Im amazed anybody would believe any politician. ..open your eyes ffs
Next…you will all be telling me that we live in a democracy. …pmsl

Hi how you doing there mate?hope your well.just ampoint bout being a catholic I have no problem with my faith in this country after a yes vote (or a no one).it has a rich history here, one that survived the reformation, clearances and government inspired famine to go onto play a pivotal role, today, at all levels of society.
i cannot accept George’s point as it does not reflect these advancess.more importantly it suggests sectarianism and bigotry is going toget worse voting yes, ….
Vote yes and youll be subjected to the same sectarian and bigoted nonsense that the status quo introduced.
All good here mate

Tom,
I dont think you should back off, you should get stuck in.
Me, I’m votin for the Democratic Republic of JQB which, as the name suggests, isn’t democratic and isn’t strictly – or even loosely – speakin, a republic; seein as I’ll be Emperor.
Like a penguin
TBJ, haha.
Do you have to be fully grey haired or partially to get in?
If its partially, I can maybe join.
I have been at a few lunches at Celtic Park where some of the lions plus others who played for us in the late sixties and early seventies were seated with the fans. They are so comfortable with our fans, its an even bigger pleasure to be with them.
I was sitting beside Evan Williams at the last one. He was brilliant. He told me how Jack Charlton stamped on his ankle at Leeds’ first corner in 1970.
The monday before the second leg, Jock got all the defence together to plan their tactics for defending Leeds corners & free kicks. Evan said he would take care of Charlton. The other defenders said they would deal with them as he was bigger than Evan.
The first Leeds corner, Charlton stood very close Evan. He made sure Charlton knew not to touch him again which he didn’t.
He also told me one of the coaches at Wolves, his club prior to Celtic, told him he was about the right height for a keeper, 5ft 11. Goalies who are over 6ft 2 didn’t jump as well. After he signed for us, faither told him the exact same thing. Ronnie Simpson was in his last season with us when Evan signed.

Some posters seem to think that you can only comment on the independence debate if you live in Scotland and have a vote. Is that because the rest of us have no opinion or view that might be informative? Does it also mean us Irish supporters will be spared views on Irish politics and history from posters outside Ireland?
Or is it going to be accepted that this is a Celtic supporters blog for Celtic supporters wherever they live and if you’re going to discuss a subject on this site then everyone is entitled to give their tuppence worth?
So,for what it’s worth. . . .
Those who think the SNP will split and just become another party after a yes vote should ponder why this would be after such a stunning political triumph. Football supporters above all should recognise that success brings many followers – witness all those Liverpool, Man U and Chelsea strips that populate our islands.
After independence there will be negotiations over the debt, the currency, financial regulation, energy regulation and all the other things the SNP say will be nae borra.
Plenty of opportunity to blame the damned English for being unfair bullies and preventing the Scottish utopia promised by the nationalists. The cry will be for national unity around the SNP against the bullies with silly names like Gideon . . .or whatever. Just like now!
And this can on on for years so that ordinary Scots and English become increasingly divided while their rulers keep their own class interests united through joint membership of NATO, the Windsor family and joint financial regulation etc etc.
An ‘independent’ Scotland will be a little like the independent bit of Ireland and all small countries. When it comes to the big things it will do as its told and try to rally its people around the flag while it shafts them. Over here its called putting on the green jersey.

Interesting to see Snodgrass being linked to Hull for £7-8m. Just shows you how inflated prices are in EPL at present. I would equate Snodgrass to Alan Thompson before we signed him. I think we got Thompson for £2.75m. Prices have more than doubled.
To sign a Chris Sutton or John Hartson now would take £10-£12m.
I also feel that when people try and equate the current squad to the MON squad they sometimes underestimate just how brilliant Larsson was. Larsson was valued at around £14m back then. Could you imagine this current team with a £25m striker (Dzeko for example)? We wouldn’t be too far off the MON team. Players like Forster, Lustig, Van Diyk, Johansen, Brown and Forrest are all pretty good players IMHO
Evening all.
Shuggiebhoy, fair enough. Let’s talk about Celtic next time.
Threatening posters with violence is uncalled for. Many will be happy to see TSD getting the threats but once this trend grows, they will like it less.
Good points Niall.
Had MO’N not been blessed with HL, would he have achieved what he did? I have my doubts. Actually I don’t. He wouldn’t have achieved what he did without that most brilliant all round talent.
Might as well claim my hat trick.
Perfect hat trick. Left, right and header.
