European football disinformation

657

I’m hoping suggestions Stefan Scepovic and Kris Commons are struggling for fitness for Thursday is a classic attempt at European football disinformation.

Back in July I wrote about Commons “dependence on one creative talent feels like an unnecessary vulnerability”.  We remain (unnecessarily) dependent on our only creative talent, as subsequent games without him have established.  If he’s not in the starting line-up, we’ll need a radical change of system.

Bringing a second creative talent to the club should be a priority.  On this subject, I hear Bosnian fulcrum, Semir Stilic, who we were reportedly interested in a few years ago, before he detoured for a indifferent spell in Turkey, is now back in Poland with Wisla Krakow and eclipsing his earlier form for Lech Poznan.  We could do worse.

Shocked and stunned at the news Rangers International’s nomad, Daniel Stewart Securities PLC, have had trading in their shares suspended by the Stock Exchange as they were unable to file their accounts to year-end 31 March 2014 on time.  The Ibrox club’s board will be incredulous that the diligence they carried out to ensure they were dealing with an advisor of standing overlooked some fundamentals.

Four days out from the Great Scottish Run, which I’m doing for the Foundation’s work for Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty.  This is our Foundation, established and run by Celtic fans for 19 years.  It’s an important part of the story of where our club came from and what’s important to our mission.  Any donations here, from £1 up, are welcome.

Thanks to everyone who has helped.

If I was on the hiring/firing Dept at Sevco I’d simply write down the amount of money these 3 frauds have milked from their club and show them it. I would then ask them if they would like to see those figures in large font on a tabloid front page in the morning.

Actually……….If I was on the hiring/firing Dept at Sevco, I’d give them a rise.

Just looked in and saw a name check. Cheers for that. Be harsh on Griffith’s to start after not getting a look in for so long. I still have faith in him scoring although I sense that either Stokes will play up top and Leigh will be played wide or Stokes will play up top and Leigh will still be on the bench.

It was interesting to read his Twitter rant about Cummings from Hibs. The Bhoy is frustrated and wants to play games. If he is managed correctly he could explode on the scene and score the goals he has in him. If he is not managed correctly he may just explode. Apart from Guidetti he looks the only out and out goal scorer we have. He is no angel but some footballers aren’t. He should be judged on the pitch but has seldom had a chance under Ronny and when he has this season it is out wide. I have no idea what the thinking is with Griffiths or why he wasn;t given 30 mins at least against Hearts who he has a great scoring record.

Time will tell in the fitness of our forwards and the inclusion on Leigh in the team or not. We are not exactly scoring goals freely. Griffiths remains a mystery!

  5. I thought the wee fat ginger pieman had taken a 50% wage cut, deferred. So he is a creditor now too until the Captains of the sinking ship give him his money.

How would that appear in the accounts?

Daniel Stewart is a global investment bank with revenue less than half that of Aberdeen FC and an aptness to somewhat overstate their own importance.

Established in 1989, they have accumulated losses in excess in £14M, are trading seemingly inexorably towards insolvency, and now find that they are unable to comply with the regulatory requirements of AIM listed companies, despite being a Nominated Adviser to around 20 AIM listed companies themselves, in a professional and timely manner.

    Hope that helps.

    Yer very welcome;)

I’m glad he’s frustrated. Shows a bit of passion to be playing. Doesn’t really seem to be sulking either which I like.

  10. Gideon Osborne paraphrased a clip from Trainspotting in his speech to the Tory Conference. Irvine Welsh has responded in his inimitable style and called Gideon a few names which I can’t repeat on here.

I remember in the late 60s when a journalist on the Express, a certain W Waddell, wrote a hatchet job on a R$%&*£s manager, and three days later was himself ensconsed in the blue room at the bigotdome.

The crisis then was that they had been pumped out of Europe. Now they’re struggling in Scottish Div II. Ha ha ha!

Just like super I don’t do walking away. Maybe the clique could all email Mr 67 and get me removed. DEILA OUT

  14. I’m not normally into watching people being tore to shreds and turned on by all those who lauded him and spun his bile in the SMSM but in the case of the fat sleekit one I will make an exception.

They must all be working frantic(ally) trying to work out a story on how he can walk away.

That wonderful moment when you see Karma in all its beautiful spleandorCSC.

Having said that I hope he brass necks it and stays as head clown in charge of picking duds to play for sevco.

    gearoid1998 – thanks :)

The funniest parenting joke I ever heard was from Jo Brand:

She was nursing her youngest son when the health visitor dropped by.

The health visitor said “don’t you think he’s a little bit old for breastfeeding?”

To which the little fellow turned away from his mother, squinted at the health visitor, and said:

    “Feck off!” (thumbsup)

  17. While I don’t wish superally anything but ignominy for all that trouble that can be laid squarely at his door, beginning with the demonisation of our former manager, I hope he stays in place for ever and ever. When he finally does do his walking away, I hope Neil Lennon informs us of what superally whispered to him. I hope he gets the jile.

  18. LiviBhoy,

FWIW – I heard exactly same on/off scenario with regards to the Griffiths to hibs rumour.

Last thing I was told was that hibs couldn’t afford the wages (Celtic apparently wanted all of them paid by hibs)?

Could be crap – but what I heard.

    Cheers,

    BJM.

  19. Philvisreturns,

That one sums up your level of intelligence. I thought I’d see if you had matured any since you came back, but no. I’ll be continuing to scroll by. Don’t bother answering.

PS Did you finish school this time?

yogihughes – Sorry, I don’t know who you are.

Hibs were happy to pay a quarter for 90 days. Looks like they may not need him.

I said to a Hibee yesterday that their biggest issue is looking back at what they had before and desperate to have them back. They must move forward and Stubbs is doing that. Huge win for them the other night but Mrs LB fears they are probably going to get beat on Saturday. It’s how they roll.

Has there ever been a more political top athlete than Ali? An inspiration not just to the negroes of the USA, but to everyone everywhere. He, like Bob Marley, Nelson Mandela, transcended race.

My fav Ali story is when he was invited to Oxford Uni to give a talk, and students began shouting for a poem. His poem was:

    Me, we.

Is that not the greatest short poem in history? And from a boxer!!

Non-football topic (in the majority on here then!) but trying to get a last minute break in the sun during the October week. Not asking for recommendations but wondering if anyone’s been to a wee place north of Alicante called Calpe and, if so, is it any good?

  29. Michael Stewart….

Think I was one of the first to pick up and praise him on his commentaries first displayed on shortbread radio.

Forthright, fearless and without favour. I suspect he has ambitions beyond where he’s at just now.

I read the article by him posted earlier. I didnt realise he wrote for a newspaper. I assume the Scotsman or Evening News given his Edinburgh connection?

He is really excellent but I give notice that one day (maybe soon?) it will be Celtic he’ll be forthright and fearless about. Remember that and listen to what he says…its normally worthwhile.

Mind you no matter what he says I’ll never be as negative as some contributions on this site :-)

Anyway back to the lemsip and my sickbed….
