An away trip to St Johnstone on the back of an away trip to Fenerbahce was a challenging one on paper. Teams drop more points away from home after an away European game than under any other circumstances, but yesterday went as well as we could have hoped for.
Nadir Ciftci has failed to set imaginations alight since arriving in the summer but the support were delighted for the player and his prospects, after two excellently taken goals. The first, controlling a corner on his thigh before turning and thrashing the ball into the corner of the net, was top drawer. More please.
Our other summer signing who has recently pulled some form together is Dedryck Boyata. Dedryck was the proverbial bag of nerves earlier this season. He looked clumsy with the ball at his feet, was wasteful when passing and was part of a defence which could not defend corner kicks. The arrival of Jozo Simunovic in the team coincided with Dedryck looking more like a Celtic player.
Without European football the second half of the season has an anti-climactic feel to it but it’s important for both these players. They, like many others in the squad, have a lot to prove after some indifferent performances. Not all will make it. Several, who are teetering on the brink of the first team, will find their opportunities limited, so there is no such thing as an unimportant game. Every game is important when you are trying to improve your reputation, every corner is important as is every chance.

We’re averaging over 2.5 goals a game. I think our best was 2.8 something 1 season under MON.
GM …. fair point. but we have a surfeit of players who (can) play that role…. (part of) RD’s job is man management … keeping the squad happy. TR has shown promise this year, but so far, has not done enough to COMMAND a starting place.
A iittle competition for that starting spot would hopefully bring out the best in TR and NC.

Our supposed 4231 is in reality 415, a similar system that Bayern, Barca et all play.
people get hung up on the system, Lenny was slaughtered for playing similar, when he played with the two wingers and we often got overran in the middy, he got dogs abuse.
We DON’T play with one up front.
As for the three at the back, not a hope in hell, it won’t work, it will get torn apart.
And when you think about it, we only really play with two at the back, our left and right backs are in reality wingers.

Yup. Ronnie is here for the long haul. If the footballing collapse on the field now continues within Scotland now that our European reputation is garbage then I surmise that PL will judiciously jettison RD to prolong his heated driveway fund. It is possible that DD may intervene if he believes the EPL or another possible OF theatre coalesces to facilitate the moustached irish hero’s image, however, those are leprechaun tales. The best bet we can hope for as Celtic supporters is to bide and wait our time and hope that the green huns die along with their counterparts and some other ambition driven funded football club with custodians with a vision take over.

I often go to watch the local team here, they would be roughly div 145, they would, given an honest referee blow most of what scotland has to offer off the park.

I sort of recall that, it is one of the easiest systems to break down, as is 442.
It’s all about getting the balance right, you need the players obviously, but when you het the right players for the system, it works, just ask that bloke from Norway, Ronny something or other, he went and won the league there with a bunch of no marks, the cheek of the man :-)
The sense of entitlement has sure escalated since thems died so it has, the landscape has changed so much, now we are judged on europe and beating teams with less money than we have.

BGX, some of our support don’t like Chelse due to the right wing element of their support in the 70’s and 80’s with strong NF/BNP links which in turn formed a loose connection with the huns and Linfield.
Through work I have got to know three Chelsea fans, two originally from West London and the other is from Derry.
All three loathe and despise the deid club and the tribute act. One of the London guys came up here with a Scottish workmate who was a hun and went to Ibrox. He hated it and wanted to leave after 5 minutes and told me cause they were all a bunch of counts.
They are also fed up when the deid club fans ran riot, they blame Chelsea fans. The deid club also owe Chelsea 250 grand.
The Paris metro incident shows there are still some Chelsea fans who who carry on the horrible ways of those forty years ago.

I am all for bring weans through, but they need mentors, they need out and out battle hardened players beside them, to teach them.
I have been saying for years that we need to bring in a few of these kinda players, no sell on value, pay them serious money, it will pay dividends at the end of the day imo.
People keep saying about the teams that have humped us the past couple fo years, they have a mixture of youth and experience, something that we need to do, and we need to do it sooner rather than later.
Sorry but bringing in someone like Carlton Cole, who may or may not work out, is a joke, he is nothing like Ronny wants.
Balance is the key, and we are so far away for it it’s no real.
The policy needs looked at big time, else we will be bitching about the same pish for years to come.
