Exploiting a vulnerable man, the drive to Bristol Airport, WW in the UK

611

There is a degree of public interest in reading about, or listening to, spivs exploit the stupidity of some football fans to bring a club to its knees, but the sight of a tired and emotional looking Malcolm Murray stumbling away from an event is neither entertaining nor of interest to anyone with a sense of humanity.

Have you ever seen a drunk football player or official?  I have.  It has never been news before nor should it be now.  If the man has an actual problem the first response from his club and the wider game must be to offer support for one of our national illnesses.

The fan with a phone camera probably knows no better, but passing-round a recording of when a Frankie Howerd impersonator confronted Murray about his alleged problem is truly awful.

The audio was almost certainly not uploaded onto the internet by ‘Howerd’ but it was his decision to make and distribute the recording.  I hope he informed Murray the call was being recorded.

10 years ago today five of us filled a car and drove to Bristol Airport, the nearest available departure point for Scot’s leaving for the Spain; more-local airports were booked out within minutes of the event ahead being confirmed.  Bristol is a small airport but the place was full of other Celtic fans who had travelled south for the same purpose.  Every departure point in the land was filled by green and white.

A remarkable exodus was underway, it was a privilege to be part of it.

Great news, Willie Wallace has made the long trip from Aus and is now in the UK.  Looking forward to catching up with him next week.

I see contributing to Willie’s autobiography has had a dramatic effect on Rod Stewart’s career!  He’s just reached No. 1 in the album chart for the first time in decades.  Hail, hail, Rod.

You can pre-order the autobiography in Willie’s own words, with Rod’s contribution, Brogan Rogan’s best writing yet, and Archie MacPherson’s fantastic scene setting (“the best team I’ve ever seen”) with the link below.  Willie will be signing all copies ordered now just as soon as the presses roll.

Nostalgia overload.  Need to hold it together for tomorrow.

I booked trip to the Grand Canyon from one of the street vendors. It worked out great, bus picked us up at the hotel out to a smaller airport flew to the canyon, short bus trip to eagle point where you can go out on the skywalk, then back and helicopter trip into the canyon and a short boat trip up the Colorado. Trip of a lifetime.

In Vegas if you like a bit of adrenalin flowing go to the stratosphere and go on the rides on the rooftop.

Are there any leaks expected tonight from Charlotte?

I noticed Phil Mac saying that the Pinsent Masons investigation is ‘on hold’. Shortly after reading his tweet, Raman says on STV that it is near completion and the result is due soon. Hmmmmm….. what’s going on here? Who is being fed misinformation? And why would it be ‘on hold’?

    Oh dear

looks like the SFA will have to get their thinking caps on (stop laughing at the back ) they broke every rule in their comic (book) and now hertz are going down the same road as sevco but the forever grateful ragers fans are confused as to why Hertz are not getting dumped .

bfdj everyone knows why ragers are playing in the 3rd div so there is no need to keep going on about it .

  19. Have enjoyed all the Seville tales, I was a sec. school teacher in South of Scotland then, but couldn’t go to Seville as I was really struggling with RA which ended up with early retirement. Thankfully now much better now due to Anti TNF injections.

Anyway my heart went out to a colleague in another sec. school, big ‘tic supporter who ran the school’s football teams and had spend hours and hours writing up and preparing lessons and had spoken to other teachers who had agreed cover to get all his lessons in their non teaching time to allow a him to go to Seville.

He approached the headmaster and said “Can I have a day off to go to Seville, all my lessons are covered and flights booked.” His answer was no and if you go you will be up in front of a disciplinary panel.

Broke his heart but he didn’t go to Seville, however he stopped running the school’s football teams and now teaches in a different school.

Hey.. I know my wife thinks I’m nuts but…

There are few to choose from on St Armands Circle at the southern end of LK, but it depends on your wallet and taste with them.

Our fav is a French place called Maison Blanche. A wee bit pricey but you get the real deal with beautiful atmosphere, great service and excellent food. On GOM drive.

Another popular place is the Charthouse On Gulf of Mexico Drive. Great views and good food.

Also the Drydock Waterfront Grill has a great reputation, also on GOM drive.
