It was a fantastic result from Celtic Park last night for Scotland’s poor who are dependent on food aid. Fans arrived in droves before kick off with bags full of provisions to restock food banks across the region.
I can sympathise with the SPFL to an extent. Without a sponsor, they are even more dependent on satisfying television, and satisfying television often involves making unpopular decisions, but the mess they’ve made of scheduling the final Championship fixtures of the season is deeply embarrassing for our game.
Our game is looking more and more like it’s being run like a Banana Republic. Generalissimo Doncaster has a case to answer.
I’m pretty sure no one at Celtic considered Leigh Griffiths as their number one striker when he signed a year ago. That he has become so, is as much a result of his forward competition failing to deliver as much as his own talents, but there’s no denying Leigh’s ability. He’s turned into a vibrant, productive striker who scores all types of goals.

CEO Cuts His $1 Million Salary To Increase His Employees’ Minimum Wage To $70,000 A Year
Some may call it an act of charity. But for Gravity Payments founder and CEO, Dan Price, it’s an investment.
“This is a capitalist solution to a social problem,” Price said. “I think it pays for itself, I really do.”
nytimes.com
The solution? A $930,000 pay cut that Price took from his own salary to increase his employees’ minimum wage — all 120 of them — to $70,000 a year. That’s almost double the salary of a quarter of the workers.
The raise means that Price’s $1 million salary per year has been slashed by 93% to an annual $70,000 — but the decision, he says, won’t affect his lifestyle all that much. Since starting his payment processing company in 2004, he said that the Seattle-based Gravity Payments has given him ample opportunity to save.
“There will be sacrifices,” said Price. “But once the company’s profit is back to the $2.2 million level, my pay will go back. So that’s good motivation.”
The 30-year-old said that the idea started with an article on happiness. It showed that the ideal benchmark for attaining happiness is a salary of $75,000. The study also indicated that once that benchmark is attained, emotional well-being doesn’t go any higher even as the salary continues to increase. The final push came when, during a hike, he listened to a friend explain her struggles living within 40 grand a year, and having to cope with dramatically increasing rental prices.

“There’s greater inequality today than there’s been since the Great Recession,” Price told The Huffington Post on Tuesday. “I’d been thinking about this stuff and just thought, ‘It’s time. I can’t go another day without doing something about this.’”
The raise will affect 70 workers at Gravity Payments, whose employee’s salary averaged around $48,000 annually. Aside from Price’s salary, the rest of the money for the raises will come from the company’s expected profit of $2.2 million this year.

Price believes that motivation from higher salaries will improve workers’ performance, thus attracting more business and ultimately, increasing company revenue.
The average CEO in the United States earns more than 350 times the wage of the average worker.
“My salary wasn’t $1 million because I need that much to live, but that’s what it would cost to replace me as a CEO,” Price said. “I think CEO pay is way out of whack. Temporarily, I’m going down to the minimum until the company gets back to where it was.”
Price’s only extravagances are snowboarding and picking up the bar tab for his friends once a month. He has no plans to replace his 12-year-old Audi.
Price insists that he doesn’t need the money, saying: “I’m single. I just have a dog.”

Thanks for all the Great Tips for CQN.
Thanks for Ronny Deila, Johnny C, and Especially Johnny K, to impact how it can all be taken away from you, in an instant.
Johnny Kennedy is going to be a big help to Ronny D, as he gets Celtic’s best ever team together.

BMCUWP,
I am surprised that BT and SKY still do coverage. I think losing that TV deal would do wonders for our game.
HH
—————————————————————-
The big problem with the current TV deal is that SKY and BT called Scottish football’s bluff when the huns died and there was all that talk about them pulling the plug unless the deal was re-negotiated. At that point the then SPL went into a blind panic and brought in Peter Lawwell to bolster their negotiating team which eventually agreed to accept less money from the broadcaster in turn for them extending the deal by another few years. The broadcasters had no intention of pulling out of Scottish Football but our dullard negotiating team blinked first and ended up agreeing a deal that was bad for the game in Scotland.
If you can recall at the time, this was heralded as a great victory by the negotiating team yet no-one was prepared to publically say what the terms of the deal were. Try and find them now and I can assure you that they remain a mystery. However, what is now clear is that the money clubs are receiving in turn for allowing SKY and BT free reign with the fixtures is a pittance and does not adequately compensate for the inconvenience to clubs and their fans caused their interference. Unless their is a break clause in the deal I fear we are stuck with it till the bitter end. Hopefully, we will have strengthened the negotiating team when the time comes to draw up a new one but I won’t hold my breath.

Dr Who needs information,
Given the SFA’s history in not properly investigating club submissions to them what are the chances they’ll conduct a thorough investigation of the glib liars evidence to them?

Fantastic, years since I heard that one ……. Ta ….!!!!
There’s a uniform that’s hangin’
“in what’s known as Father’s room
A uniform so simple in its style
It’s got no braid of gold nor silk
Nor hat with feathered plume
but me mother has preserved it all the while
One day she had me try it on
a wish of mine for years
“In mem’ry of your father dear,” she said
And when I put the Sam Brown on
She was smilin’ through her tears
When I put the Broad Black Brimmer
On me head
Chorus
It’s just a Broad Black Brimmer
Ribbons frayed and torn
In a careless whisk of manys about the breeze
An old trench coat that’s all battle stained and worn
And breeches almost threadbare at the knees
A Sam Brown belt with a buckle big and strong
And a holster that’s been empty manys a day (but not for long)
When Ireland gets her freedom
The one they’ll choose to lead ’em
will wear the Broad Black Brimmer
Of the I.R.A.
It’s the uniform be worn by me father long ago
When he hit me mother’s house flat on the run
It was the uniform be worn in that little church below
When Father Mike he blessed the pair as one
After truce and treaty and the parting of the ways
He wore it when he marched out with the rest
(and the best!)
And when they laid his body down
His brother’s heads were raised
When they put the Broad Black Brimmer
on his head”
Stop talking about the Hun, oops nae chance.
No, I’m not driving, I’m getting road rage for my wife ;)

murdochbhoy @ 08:08,
“Given the SFA’s history in not properly investigating club submissions to them what are the chances they’ll conduct a thorough investigation of the glib liars evidence to them?”
As you may know Paul67 has blogged a few times on the fact there is no fit and proper test as such.
What happens is the Clubs themselves are supposed to look at the criteria when appointing someone to ensure their Board members and senior employees are fit and proper.
If it’s brought to the SFA’s notice that the criteria is breached then the SFA can take retrospective action (as in the case of Craig Whyte).
Now that is the situation with Paul Murray.
The situation with Dave King is different though.
He has asked the SFA to decide on his fit and proper status. And has suggested that he’s just awaiting a decision.
Yesterday Stewart Regan stated that the SFA were still awaiting the documentation from DK and PM to enable them to review the criteria and make a judgement.
You’d have thought time was off thee essence…..

Talking to a wee 80 year old woman at breakfast.
“This year was the hardest Lent ever for me!”
“Why’s that?” I replied.
“Because I tried to give up laughing at the huns!” she answered.

The SFA put too much reliance on self-regulation and Sandy Bryson’s testimony to LNS was a classic example of it’s failure to subject submissions to proper scrutiny.
King, as the South African tax authorities have already highlighted weaves lies to suit his evidence, his submissions to the SFA will need forensic examination, my intuition is they won’t have the resources to undertake such a root and branch examination.
