Fighting the same foe too many times

1064

Napoleon observed that no one should fight the same enemy too many times, as eventually their superior ways and techniques will become redundant as the inferior foe will eventually hit on a strategy which works.

Dundee United did reasonably well in their two games against Celtic in the last 9 days, despite playing a considerable part of both games with a man disadvantage.  They will arrive at Celtic Park tomorrow night having learned a few lessons, and hooping to compete with a full complement of players.

The danger for Celtic lies in what happened against St Johnstone at Celtic Park earlier this month.  The Perth team have won only two of their nine games since 17 January but they knew what to expect from Celtic, who were marginally off-pace, enough so to leave the field without points.  Another marginally off-pace performance tomorrow night and talk of trebles will evaporate in an instant.

If we’re vulnerable at any point between now and the end of the season, it’s this midweek.

  1. Enjoyed the Sevco updates.

If you add the injury team in the last two games you could say McCall is unbeaten in three.

We can’t even beat this lot who are bottom of the table

How are we going to beat anyone in top half of table

    Its over for us

Will take us years before we will be able to beat the likes of sheep and Dundee hibs never mind the manky mob

    I feel fuckin SICK

He’s no enjoying the journey much, just wait till things get bad.

  5. I really hope Falkirk repeat their earlier result and win v Hearts at the weekend.

As long as the hibs win their next 2 then that will ensure hearts go to Ibrox needing a win to secure the championship.

The circus in town indeed. Kind of ‘look at what you could have won’.

  6. !!Bada Bing!! on

The Zombies have dropped more points in the last 5 games than Hearts have all season.

even 6 mins of injury time canny save thems

    the fix is still in

    they are gash beyond belief

Yes. And THEIR gashness is a measure of how short Celtic fans were sold in LC semi final.

THEY were there or the mother of all doings and Celtic never attempted to play at anything other than half throttle.

  11. Watched the Arsenal Monaco game and thought …. Where did the ref get 5 mins extra time ! When the game finished I switched to radio Scotland to hear Then still playing, wee Chico says “into the last seconds of added time” …. Then wtf …they continue to play for at least another 4-5 mins even the SFA retards can’t even help them ….. Same on Saturday they were the last team in Scotland to finish the game against Livi …..shower of hurting clowns….

    Anyway ….”Hail Glorious St Patrick”

I must admit to liking the tuneful arias so I am a populist rather than a purist but the more you listen, the more you get drawn in to classical music.

Although CQN is magic for introducing artists of various types. I followed a link from yesterday and spent a while today listening to Donna Taggart who is a lovely Irish singer.

CQN – all the culture you can handle.

  14. Wonder if bee smith will take his new team out and get them pished this week.

He learnd at the brogues of a master, after all.

A team that drinks together etc etc.

Oh, the shite we have had to live through. We were fed this mantra as a genius strategy.

  15. Chico is the media equivalent of Sevco.. A relic from the past, a busted flush and as relevant to football in the modern age as half backs.

Any other state broadcaster would have binned him years ago, he is still in a job because drunken half wits laugh at the Jonathan Watson skits on Hogmanay.

Do not worry about him, just pat him on the head and smile inwardly.

  16. It’s a win win situation for Hearts (and those who enjoy having a laugh at the stadium john brown played for).

Scenario A: Hearts win this weekend, as do Hibs. Title can be (will be) won at poundland

Scenario B: Hearts win the title THIS weekend. Traditionally this would equate to the the Rangers players forming a guard of honour to applaud the newly crowned champions onto the field.

Not sure which one I’d prefer…

    All together now…

  19. Quonno – sevco fan at work said he’d rather a doing from us going all out. Said that being unable to touch a team that weren’t even trying was a bigger humiliation.
