Fighting the same foe too many times

1064

Napoleon observed that no one should fight the same enemy too many times, as eventually their superior ways and techniques will become redundant as the inferior foe will eventually hit on a strategy which works.

Dundee United did reasonably well in their two games against Celtic in the last 9 days, despite playing a considerable part of both games with a man disadvantage.  They will arrive at Celtic Park tomorrow night having learned a few lessons, and hooping to compete with a full complement of players.

The danger for Celtic lies in what happened against St Johnstone at Celtic Park earlier this month.  The Perth team have won only two of their nine games since 17 January but they knew what to expect from Celtic, who were marginally off-pace, enough so to leave the field without points.  Another marginally off-pace performance tomorrow night and talk of trebles will evaporate in an instant.

If we’re vulnerable at any point between now and the end of the season, it’s this midweek.

I must admit to liking the tuneful arias so I am a populist rather than a purist but the more you listen, the more you get drawn in to classical music.

Although CQN is magic for introducing artists of various types. I followed a link from yesterday and spent a while today listening to Donna Taggart who is a lovely Irish singer.

CQN – all the culture you can handle.

Indeed! That’s a lovely rendition of Dvorak. I’m more of an “opera buffa” than “opera seria” fan, but as Beefy says, it’s all a learning experience. My favourite Rossini :

Sevco would go straight back down if they somehow manage to scrape through the play offs. (If they get there)

They have a number of players out of contract and a financial noose around their necks. Ibrox is reportedly falling apart.

That club needs 40-50 million short term and champions league income long term to survive.

Very very little interest in that other mob, but, I would rather that lowlife fae Edinburgh win the league this weekend, then hopefully no need for their fans to fund Sevco 5088 or whatever their called now

  14. I their journey has been magnificent thus far.

So much so I’d like them to repeat this season’s experience all over again next year.

After how often can the good folks of Raith and South Queen expect to see world class players grace their humble astro village greens.

Very noble of the new club to linger in their midst. One might almost say dignified…..

  15. quonno , weeminger , as the establishment team (aye right – Ed) , i believe we were just showing an element of social responsibility by ‘no tryin a leg’ in the 2nd half and saving our stretched emergency services from the overload that a humpin to beat all humpin would have resulted in – and ma tongue is firmly OOT ma cheek for that last point .

Am making a wee excursion from 407 over to the South Stand Upper tomorrow, having read about some ticketing issues, I hope I’m not in a CQN’er’s normal seat.

Feeling much more confident than Paul and believe we will win by at least as big a margin as we did on Sunday.

Well, don’t knock it till you try it.

We’ll do both at Easter and I promise you, you’ll never forget it!

  18. On tomorrow nights game, desperately hoping we start the game at a high tempo, a goal inside 20 minutes will deflate the Arabs and we will win by 3 or 4 in my opinion. It’s all about the attitude tomorrow night and if Ronny and JC get the bhoys in the zone we will be fine.

My worry is that a midfield attacking 3 of Stokes, Commons and Forrest is too lazy defensively (to be fair Kris and Stokes have made improvements this season in terms of their work rate but it’s still not as good as the likes of GMS, Armstrong or Stefan).

My midfield trio would be Stokes (left), Henderson (central) and Commons (right). I would have Forrest on at around 65 mins and instead of taking Leigh off for JG I’d keep Leigh on and bring on Scepovic up top, moving Leigh into a midfield role. Just my thoughts. Don’t care how we do it though, let’s just win!

they dont want to come up and take that hit in the big league.

they think they could cope with it in the 2nd teir.

i mean their players, professionals. couldnt really be this bad, could they.

What is especially funny, satisfying and heart warming is the number of Follow-Followers who are meekly hoisting the white flag.

It warms the cockles to read things like “We are done as a force in Scottish football for the time being, the tims have it sown up off the park, and we are killing ourselves on it”

They will get less and not more for their game with hearts of it is a championship winning game.

It is the replayed game which was abandoned.

They will not give hearts any more tickets and fewer thems will attend to cheer on hearts win.

Backing our team toward a treble is what matters. Hopefully we get a great atmosphere and support tomorrow night. We are going to need it. We will be up against an aggrieved opponent, refereeing which won’t be as fair and balanced as it was on Sunday and we are missing 3 key players.

Hopefully our real supporters who can get to the game rally to the teams need and show that a Scottish Cup Win still matters to us.

I expect the Celts to win 3-0tomorrow against the Arab windbags. Captain Nostradamus told you.
