The day has arrived, 31 August, on a Champions League season, but news has been slow (in general) or there has been no news (at Celtic) so far. Pity help those who were not busy this morning and have burned through a packed of antacids. Deadline day reveals human nature in all its glory.
Last night Ipswich Town agreed a deal to take Daryl Murphy, whom they had on loan last season and the final six months of the previous season. Daryl would have been keen to bring his Celtic uncertainty to an end (he is out of contract when this loan period at Ipswich expires) as he has clearly enjoyed more success in the English Championship.
We didn’t see the best of Daryl but it’s good news Celtic were prepared to release him. He would surely have been retained if there was not a good chance of recruiting a replacement. No promises, of course!
Stay tuned throughout the day. If we have another ‘Robbie Keane Day’ when the CQN server takes a battering I’ll update the Facebook page and Twitter.

Murcia is 7 hours away on the train, sure it wouldn’t be too bad on the way there, but on the way back with a ripper of a hangover wouldn’t be the best really. Think Madrid then high speed train might be my best option

Man am I glad you read my last post.
This happens often on CQN and its is me fault through laziness.
I make a general point but because I am addressing an individual poster they take it personally and take the hump with me.
I see no reason why Celtic cannot issue a statement asking the SNP Government how the lack of punishment handed down to Ally Mc Coist by the SFA can be considered appropriate after the summit and the controversial newly introduced legislation. I see nothing wrong with rattling a few cages.
anyway glad we are still pals .keep up the good fight

Due to work I’d only be able to miss two days max, thanks for the heads up tho
I wouldn’t want Stokes gone unless we got big money for him.
His goals per minute I’m pretty sure was better than Hooper’s last season and, for me, he puts in more work/contributes more to general play than Hooper.
Last attempt at this one
We still haven’t identified the mystery man in hoops!
I remember a time when he wouldn’t have got into BBs, they had a policy of
No Dogs
No Irish
No Backs :-)
I also remember when the cactus was getting delivered and I said to Robert (the guvnor), be careful you don’t poke yer eye out with that cactus…..ooops too late.
Aye….come on own up ….2.19pm before the Helsingborg game. Whoever it was must be a right soak. Any suggestions. Someone must know!

Who was it that saw him in Glasgow??
For Barcelona, check out flights to Madrid, then internal flight to Barca using Spanish airlines.

you’re not forgiven ;-)
Whilst Celtic fans are making Champions League arrangements to Camp Nou Rangers fans are busy making Scottish Cup arrangements to a Camp Site.
So maybe a Belgian striker on loan with view to permanent deal, then also Nigerian centre half, plus maybe babel and/or bardosa :-)
Oh and offer £1.7m for Russell, they’ll crumble and take that. Don’t give in to £2m!!!
And >£1m for Stokes! Go and shove it Huddersfield!
Is the Hibs game on the tele anywhere tomorrow ?????

I’ve had 2 experiences getting into the Camp Nou. On both occasions my ticket was for the Barca end. First time about 7 of us from my CSC in Dublin all had tickets for behind the goal in the Barca end. We were all wearing our colours and Celtic tops and had no bother gaining admission to the Barca end. The second time ticket was not with my mates and when I went through the gate I was guided by the cops up to the Gods in the Celtic fans section despite the ticket being for the Barca end. So, it seems to be a bit random but you will have no bother getting in with the Celtic colours on.
If u van get to Alicante…………………….
Vueling fly To Barcelona, and back, 3 or 4 times a day for £50 a pop

I don’t think there are UK ferries to Lisbon but you can get to Santander and Bilbao from Plymouth and Portsmouth. Still a fair drive to get to either Lisbon or Barca from there.
I think the alternative airport scenario offers better prospects.

Buying tickets for the Barca game will be difficult if you have an Irish or UK passport.
We were over at the last game, and the tickets were on general sale, but you had to produce a passport at the time of buying.
It’s unlikely the game will sell out this time ( unless Barca need a result in this game……), so there’ll probably be a general sale again.
We approached a couple of Aussies in the queue, and asked if they would buy us tickets – they were happy to, and wouldn’t accept more than face value.
Our seats were in the Barca end, but we covered up our hoops to gain admittance ( I think they have signs up saying no away colours ) once we were inside, we saw a few Celts in the Hoops, so the jackets came off……..
We sat amongst the Barca fans with no problems at all, and a couple of them even wanted to exchange shirts at the end of the game, but it was just too bloody cold to be getting my kit off….
Fantastic experience, even though we lost the tie, and envious of anyone going this time…..

Tony Stokes wouldn’t go to Huddersfield Town for a bet.
For Lisbon you could get a cheap flight to Faro, (50 pound?) then the bus,(around 3-3and a half hours) for about 20 euro.

I’m wary of wholescale squad rotation. Several top EPL clubs have tried it with mixed results. I think we need a settled team with plenty of cover in all positions which we don’t have at present.
Recently things have gone well, especially with the young ones. However, it’s very much ‘top of the ground’ in the sunshine stuff. It’s a long season, the weather will get worse, SPL away pitches will get heavier and injuries will take their toll.
Don’t misunderstand, I remain optimistic. The CL games will take care of themselves and motivation won’t be an issue but we need a clarly defined strong backbone in the team.

Anyone thinking of flying to Murcia…………..
Murcia airport is not in the city of Murcia, but in the province near San Javier. Murcia city is about 75 km away and Alicante about 100km. It is a small airport and transport links are not great.
Best bet would be to hire a car there. Barcelona is 600 Km away. Be prepared to spend a lot on tolls for the quickest drive.

I have it on the betting site.
The young fella back in scotland was looking to go to the pub to see it if it was on, can’t see it anywhere.
