Financial Fair Play, Winding Up Orders, new CQN Magazine

868

Scottish clubs are now subject to Uefa Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations which insist club’s pay creditors in a timely manner or become subject to sanctions.  These pesky rules should prevent debts reaching a maturity of more than six months old and becoming subject of a Winding-up Order.  I am sure old Heavily Conflicted, also known as the SFA president, will have sprung into action on hearing recent news.

The Rangers yesterday issued a short statement following Channel 4’s story that Orlit Enterprise threatened a Winding-Up Order, insisting, “Rangers Football Club is capable of meeting any debts presented legitimately and we would like to stress to our supporters there is no threat to the Club whatsoever”.  They really need to stay on-message… football clubs are never threatened; it’s only the Company which can be liquidated!  Apparently.

I hear Charles Green is on an international bucket collection, Dubai and then onto Australia.  Meanwhile, it is crucial no one disturbs his important work.  When you think of the people who could have taken ownership of Ibrox last year, he has been absolutely perfect.

On other matters……..

The new edition of CQN Magazine is out and available for your consumption.  Written by and for Celtic fans, it is another Celtic joy!

I’m also delighted to report we have been seriously diss’ed by the Italians ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League game. Notes for the dressing room wall coming up soon!

  1. Any rumours about the l.n.s outcome?

If it goes against thems i won’t be able to contain my laughter which could put my life in jeopardy.

I will need to be prepared as i can’t take a sickie and keeping my holidays for a holiday:-)

  2. A Shameful bullying statement, from a totally shamed Club. The more intelligent amongst their supporters are getting worried, the riff raff knuckle draggers rejoice when they see their Club descend to the level of the gutter. That is the level they understand. The wider Business Community however will recoil in shock & horror at this type of behaviour. They are self destructing couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of citizens.

Got somebody in malaga on the case for you might not find out until the day of the game

  4. squire danaher,

wasn’t aware of the DUFC programme either. Good on them!

The inconsistencies regarding their reactions / actions towards other clubs are very strange but if you were to look at in simplistic terms then it points to the fact that they feel that they can intimidate “smaller” clubs who probably do want to keep them slightly sweet and onside so that they don’t miss out on big gates when they meet each other in the league.

They know that they can’t intimidate the likes of Celtic or Dundee United and so likely don’t want to embarrass themselves by trying to do so.

Obviously a simple statement from the head of the SFA clarifying that The Rangers are indeed a new club would be very helpful for those clubs who have been told (not asked) to apologise.

That wouldn’t be too difficult would it?

    Campbell?

  5. Marrakesh Express on

It seems to me that since Klan FC croaked, der hun is left with no defence but to point the finger at timmy for their predicament. In way they are spot on because without internet timmy sticking his nose into their affairs, the old backroom handshakes over a double malt would have worked at treat to cover up the crimes. How times have changed, thanks to Timmy Berners Lee. Nowadays Chuckles cant even Lionel Bart in secret without some smart-ass over-educated taig jumping onto his case.

The bully was finally brought down to earth by this invisible but powerful force, and things will never be the same again. Its killing them to know this and I’d bet its the first thing that enters their minds when they wake up from their nightmarish dream, to suddenly remember that its for real.

Cheers, I don’t know what to say about that, erm I think I will go and read it again. It is 90% wrong I think but 100% hilarious. He would be considered the black sheep of Scottish media if he was a journalist and that is some going.

  8. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    evening all,

    Just read the statement. Hilarious.

    One section struck me

“Clearly there has been a lack of understanding within the media about this when all we have done is refuse to be forced into paying sums we do not owe. It is as simple as that.”

Remove the word “not” from the above and you have an honest assessment of the culture of two clubs – the old one and the new one.

    Hail Hail

  9. I thought when the RTC blog retired I’d be getting my life back, looks like I was very much mistaken. This stuff is more addictive than any drug.

Maybe jabba is just drumming up hits for his website if he’s on a straight £s per hit deal. The more obvious explanation involves a straight jacket, but that would need to be custom made.

  10. You would think that with £22M in the kitty and in order not to spook investors The Rangers would have said we dispute the bill but here is what we think it is and then pay it and argue the rest.

Maybe they did that but to not come out with that story yesterday and do what they have done is PRmaggedon.

  11. Che,

Spending lots of time between Lanarkshire, major problem, will fill you in when I see you, and Edinburgh, hob knobbing. I’ll be in your hoose next week, Tuesday I think.

I’ll be in touch. In the Royal tomorrow, hectic day tho’.

  12. How will new Huns FC get any sponsors now?

Every club in Scotland (except Motherwell) hates them.

That’s around 80% of the public.

  13. They’re circling the wagons at every available opportunity and that’s to be expected, cos if they’re not in plain sight their owner may just sell em.

  14. Doc/Che

I have an 8.30 appointment at the jubilee tomorrow morn..

see any of u2 there? o)

  15. Will this ever stop…? The exploding policy arena keeps on popping

Wave, after wave, after wave of absurd announcements, dangerous demagogues and a silent, unquestioning SMSM who, with declining market shares, pander to their perceived ‘market’. Spin spin spin….

    It will stop eventually…..

when some Long Term Traditions are finally put to rest
