Financial Fair Play, Winding Up Orders, new CQN Magazine

868

Scottish clubs are now subject to Uefa Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations which insist club’s pay creditors in a timely manner or become subject to sanctions.  These pesky rules should prevent debts reaching a maturity of more than six months old and becoming subject of a Winding-up Order.  I am sure old Heavily Conflicted, also known as the SFA president, will have sprung into action on hearing recent news.

The Rangers yesterday issued a short statement following Channel 4’s story that Orlit Enterprise threatened a Winding-Up Order, insisting, “Rangers Football Club is capable of meeting any debts presented legitimately and we would like to stress to our supporters there is no threat to the Club whatsoever”.  They really need to stay on-message… football clubs are never threatened; it’s only the Company which can be liquidated!  Apparently.

I hear Charles Green is on an international bucket collection, Dubai and then onto Australia.  Meanwhile, it is crucial no one disturbs his important work.  When you think of the people who could have taken ownership of Ibrox last year, he has been absolutely perfect.

On other matters……..

The new edition of CQN Magazine is out and available for your consumption.  Written by and for Celtic fans, it is another Celtic joy!

I’m also delighted to report we have been seriously diss’ed by the Italians ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League game. Notes for the dressing room wall coming up soon!

  1. What’s also quite funny is the number of times they manage to contradict themselves within days, even hours, of previous statements…

Jabba yesterday: unworthy of further comment

Today Jabba thinks it is instead actually worth quite a lot of further comment, nigh on 1000 words of further comment hehe

Didn’t chuck also say last week that now is the time to stop making enemies and start building bridges (one can only gather that the memo sent to Jabba must have had the stop and start words in the wrong places)

They don’t seem to do irony that much down on Govan way either huh?

Rangers will not bullied into paying anyone! (Aye, about 200 creditors can testify to that!)

On the subject of bullying and intimidating, well…where do we start?

    Boycotting of other clubs

Harassment of journalists, club chairmen, lawyers, other fans etc

Demanding apologies from fellow SFL 3 clubs for simply stating the truth

Demanding to know the names of people who acted fairly, well actually, they even did them a favour considering the punishments that could have been dished out, but these people didn’t act in a way that suited their agenda (god forbid!)

Threatening to leave Scottish football while at the same time trying to tell the other 41 clubs how to restructure Scottish football (that’s perhaps my personal favourite lol)

Complaining bitterly about how they’ve been treated by other Scottish clubs and their fans (when in reality the rule book was totally disregarded to allow them entry into SFL 3).

Issuing official statements that include how they will remember who has laughed at them and kicked them when they were down (manager, chief exec and head of communications have all made reference to this)

Official statements that promise how they will return to their RIGHTFUL place at the top of the Scottish game (the sense of entitlement and importance is astonishing, no club has a rightful place, each position is earned…I suppose not)

Statements that include the words “poisonous, paranoia, shout, anger, bullied, fight”

I would love “administration: the sequel” to come about sooner rather than later but at the same time I don’t think it will.

Nevertheless, the way they are performing as a club both on and off the park at the amount gives me the impression it will take a very very long time before we should be worried about our title (unless Dundee Utd, Hibs, Hearts or Aberdeen get their act together…which I would relish!)

One more thing, when we finally get to play the new club the board and all associated with the club better not give in to their threats and intimidation by carrying on with the “old firm” line and history etc. Welcome the NEW club to their first ever fixture at Celtic Park and make no mention of any history previous to 2012.

I would then like to see Jabba and Chuck demand an apology from Celtic and be asked “for what?” ;0)

  3. That’s no club statement…..it’s just a club to beat people with.

If something like that were to be printed on Celtic’s official website there would be a government enquiry……or, at least an angry ditty from Wee Wullie Bluenose/Bluebottle.

Anyway, tonight I will take time to read the latest CQN magazine and restore enjoyment and credulity to my flabbergasted noggin.

    And,

    we play Juventus,

    HH!

  4. Traynor’s rant is like Green’s, McCoist’s and the rest of the rabble rousers. They pander to the lowest of the low, who will either never have read Traynor’s statement about the CVA and its consequences or they will simply have forgotten he ever made it.

The tragedy is that the peepil respond all too readily with violence. How the likes of Traynor can sleep at night, knowing what he has done and knowing full well that the powers that be are too frightened to take action says all that need be said about Scotland. Just imagine if Independence ever occurred….

  5. Reading back through this evenings CQN, I see that

our very own Declan has at last revealed his true self.

    Jabba the Hun.

    Who would have guessed.

  6. Just read jabbas statement, how the mighty have fallen.

Any credence he still held with some of his old journo mates has well and truly went down the pan.

From succulent lamb to a tin of spam.

Couldn’t happen to a more pathetic slug.

  7. If any of you heard Jim Spence having a quick word with Mr Traynor on the radio this weekend, I think his hesitant, guarded reply makes all the more sense now. This isn’t what he signed up for.

I imagine he thought he was in for a cozy wee ride, drip feeding morsels to his acolytes and watching the loyal hordes lap it up.

Now his going to the propagandist in chief but this time it’s going to be so much harder for him to get away with it. I think we’ve already had hints from the likes of Jingle Jangle that perhaps they won’t fall for it again.

Make no mistake I think Mr T thought he was going to be spearheading TRFC back to being the untouchables amongst the hacks, but instead he’s going to be leading the fans back down the tunnel into the darkness. If it was anybody else I’d nearly feel sorry for them.

  8. I have had a busy day, don’t want to go on hun media or msm as it is known, what page can I read the Jabba blog please in its full and blood thirsty pomp?

So no apology demanded yet then?

  11. prestonpans bhoys on

OMG first we had the Xmas statement from Green and now this. These guys must keep the glue for the airfix models and stop sniffing it.

  12. The FF take on this week’s events…

Rangers International Football Club saw shares fall by 5% today, the sharpest drop since the IPO.

There are many Rangers fans and indeed members of the general public looking very closely at the movement of the share price and the timing of malicous blogs. Some might say the bloggers are purposely putting out malicious blogs in order to drive the share price down, purchase the shares when they are low and then sell when the share price recovers.

Following on from the RFC statement this evening, it is suspected the share price will rise over the next few days.

Perhaps a couple of mischevious bloggers are rubbing their hands with glee at the tidy profit a couple of negative stories about Rangers has made them.

The term used to desribe this activity is “market manipulation”. Under section 397 of the Financial Services and Markets Act of 2000, it is an offence to make a statement about a company that actively trades if they know that statement to be misleading, false or deceptive.

The power of the internet and the age where stories are taken as truths long before the truth actually comes to the surface means it is easier than ever to manipulate share prices. This is far more true now given the presence Rangers have in the worlds media. Only 24 hours after a story is leaked about an unpaid invoice it is all over the mainstream media. The BBC this evening ran with the headline “Rangers face winding up order” on their website. The Scotsman ran with the headline “Rangers winding up order” – it almost reads as if they have indeed been faced with a winding up order doesn’t it? You see how easy this game is?

The problem we face is that it forms a mistrust of the custodians of the club and damages our reputation. I would guess that in workplaces around Glasgow, many a Celtic fan would be mocking any Rangers fan they see with ” you’se are going bust again” based on the malicous blogs.

Put the ice cream back in the fridge. Again. Rangers are going nowhere.

If they want to talk about market manipulation they can talk about how at least 95% (I’m going to do the full calculation this weekend) of all share trades in RFC have been sells into the market, without a collapse in price.

just to let the zombies on FF know, 24,000 RIFC shares were traded today out of a total of 65.1million shares in issue..(zombies, workout the %age) this resulted in a 5% drop in share price. this is often the case with a share which has virtually no volume of trading. welcome to the AIM market!

    Here it is…

RANGERS are the subject of media reports and speculation which are at best misleading and at worst malicious.

In an ideal world, for instance, one in which journalism wasn’t at such a damning low it has to be investigated by the highest authorities with culprits facing jail sentences, there would be no need for this Club to respond.

However, because it has become clear Rangers cannot rely on basic honesty, decency or integrity from enough of the country’s media outlets we must speak for ourselves. We have a duty to our supporters to put the record straight.

Rangers have been disputing a payment to a foreign company, Orlit, although it should be stressed we have never said there is no bill to be met.

What we have said and what we are telling our supporters is that not all of the invoices submitted with regard to this bill are legitimate.

Clearly there has been a lack of understanding within the media about this when all we have done is refuse to be forced into paying sums we do not owe. It is as simple as that.

Who on earth would pay out when faced with a spurious request for money?

No matter what anyone else says, Rangers have agreed a figure to settle this issue and it is a figure which, as we have already tried to explain, is significantly less than the initial demand.

Only the wording, which would put this matter to rest once and for all, has still to be signed off.

And despite what some over-excited but desperately ill-informed bloggers claim, there is no threat of this Club being closed. That is downright malicious and ludicrous.

But let’s make one thing clear: If Orlit wish to instruct their lawyers to go to court then we will defend our position vigorously.

We are absolutely convinced we’d win but we did think it would be better to avoid giving our many detractors another bar with which to beat us over the head.

That’s why we made an offer to settle but we now find we are still being harassed.

The thought process seems to be that if we have £22m from the recent IPO we should just pay up. Bizarre. Why should we?

Of course we can pay the amount demanded – it is, as we’ve already stated, a small amount – but it is ridiculous to hand over more than is due.

The money belongs to Rangers and we will not give it out to anyone who comes along with invented invoices.

That would be reckless in the extreme and suggest that nothing has been understood from the past when Rangers were in effect mugged by money grabbers.

We are here to make sure that does not happen again. We do pay our bills on time and we have always been prepared to pay this one.

There are many people and journalists who will choose to disbelieve this truth but that is up to them.

They will continue to attack Rangers no matter what we say but this statement is not for them.

It is for our supporters. They deserve to know and understand the exact and precise state of play,

Rangers will not be closed. This Club will never run up crippling debts and we will not pay over-inflated salaries to players.

However, we will have a sensible pay structure which won’t threaten the club’s existence. That is what we believe the fans want.

Having said that, Rangers are rising and we will return to the top flight where we will be competitive again.

We are still very much at the beginning of a long road back and although there will be potholes to be negotiated, nothing will stop us.

Rangers are no longer soft touches. We will not bow to or run from bullies and we will not be pressured into handing out even £1 if it is not merited.

We are sorry if this, or the fact that Rangers are financially healthy, isn’t what people want to hear but this is the new reality.

It is for others to come to terms with that and also our continued revival. It would, however, be a pleasant change if we could be left alone to get on with our business.

Agree completely with your comments regarding how our board conduct themselves in the (hopefully never to happen) event we should have to play them.

What I dont understand is that the Dundee united programme cover from Saturday refers to it being the Zombies’ first visit to Tannadice and they haven’t said diddly about it since

Is it not the case they have had at least one, if not two SFL3 clubs’ programme editors sacked for such blasphemy??

  25. Did not know Jabba done a second rant today telling the zombies to boycott the media.

Funny how all this anger and bile is released the day after Chuck told the Dubai zombies that Jabba would host a brand new Sevco media with phone ins and everything.

  26. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Just read Jabba’s masterpiece. Sounds like he is thinking back to his DR days:

Stories are written to fit headlines which often bear little or no resemblance to the truth.

those in the media, who wilfully distort

If fans can no longer trust a particular journalist or paper to be impartial
