Fog of stress begins to lift from Lennon

980

A line has hopefully been drawn under the stress Neil Lennon has lived under during the last two years with the conviction of two men found guilty of sending bombs in the post.  In a statement, Neil said: This has been a very stressful and difficult time for myself and my family and clearly I am glad that it is over”, before adding, “I will forever be thankful to the Police for the way in which they have handled this matter.”

Celtic chief executive, Peter Lawwell, added: “No one could imagine the pressure [Neil Lennon] has been under during the past two years.  He has coped with this particular episode, last year’s assault and the, at times, seemingly unrelenting attacks from many quarters.

“In my opinion, no-one in Scottish footballing history has had to contend with this level of pressure whilst trying to do their job.  Neil Lennon is someone who has shown tremendous character and resilience, and we will continue to support Neil in any way we can.”

This month has been made all the more difficult for Neil Lennon by the sudden death of Paul McBride, also a target of the bombing campaign.  Neil Lennon said, “Finally, I would like to mention my good friend Paul McBride.   His sad passing remains very raw to those close to him, we continue to miss him dearly and my thoughts remain very much with Paul’s family.”

The SFA have written to Neil Lennon three times since the start of the trial earlier this month to capitalise on perceived transgressions by the Celtic manager while yesterday a former referee used his newspaper column to undermine Neil’s position at Celtic.

These people really do need to get a grip.

Within minutes of the verdict being announced yesterday news of Stilian Petrov’s serious illness was made public.  Stilian will received the very best medical attention and all our prayers.

  1. They are celebrating for their fans, having further delayed our party. However, sometimes the journey is more enjoyable than arriving at the destination.

The destination will be sweet too though….mmmm jelly and ice cream.

TAL/PF – only joking, but you could have put yer mortgage on the Mothers losing to THEM today! Although, you would have been sweating until Elbows scored….

If Celtic take 4 point from the next two games they have won the league.

  4. Snake Plissken on

We only win next weekend IF we win tomorrow.

The gap can be 18 points again tomorrow and then if we win at Kilmarnock we have 21 points with only 18 more to play for for the filth.

It is poetry to win the title at Kilmarnock given that day of the 3-3 game when our season looked done and then we got shoots of life.

Sad it won’t be tomorrow but like Rangers’ death – it’s only a matter of time.

As someone said a couple of days ago all history will show is Motherwell 3-0 Rangers(I A)

TBB – this “glory-hunter” got a ticket for Killie on Thursday…just knew the Mullet’s team wouldn’t take anything. Seemingly, that’s their first goal against THEM since McCall took over.

Eyes on the prize, we must do the business tomorrow before thinking about Kilmarnock.

It’s the first league goal they’ve scored against them.

The scored against them in the league cup semi final last year.

Oops stand corrected. Antrimkev reckons they’ve scored an amazing four goals against Rankers!

  13. Just dropped in….looking for some clarity.

I was involved in a discussion last night with some fellow Celts and, one of them said that…when JR arrived @ CP, I think on a thursday afternoon and then, on the following monday morning….the City of London Police Force, arrived @ Ibrokes, taking away computers containing evidence of financial irregularitie’s – tax/money laundering etc….?

    Is this true ?

    Hail Hail

  14. Oh dear rangers defience and Celtic rake it in.

Tomorrow 60,000 will turn up at Celtic Park. Celtic will then go to Rugby Park possibly to clinch the title. Win or not todays result has ensured 60,000 will again turn up at Celtic Park for the following match to see the trophy presentation.

As rangers ebb away very slowly Celtic go from strength to strength.

Have a nice day, see you all tomorrow.

    Hail hail

  15. ah well,no pun intended, just got my prediction wrong. Shocking defending off the long throw and a shitty goal celebrated like the winner for the league. They really do hate us, I cannot go tomorrow but Killie will be getting a visit.

In order to GIRU them we need to win well tomorrow.

I see that Celtic, as well as being under 19 champions, are a whopping 17 points clear of the U19 huns.

Celtic must carry an awful lot of luck, considering lafferty assures us that rangers have the best young players in scotland.

  17. The mullet’s team took a goal off them in the LC semi last year in a 2-1 defeat, strangely that was by far their best performance v them, as it would not affect Rangers SPL ambitions, for some reason M’well were less inhibited.

thats just a rough calculation T4 (and stolen off another site)

the stat that always took me to the fair was the fouls v us and them by mccalls men

over 2 games they had fouled them 9 times while in our 2-0 defeat to them they had fouled us 29 times or something

I believe McCall’s Motherwell managed to score in losing 4-1 last season. Could be wrong tho.

Motherwell are playing out the remaining games of the season with £850,000 of revenue on the line for his club in terms of the difference in SPL money between finishing 2nd and 3rd.

I’m sure his Directors would have had a word in his ear prior to this match, given his history of hopeless hunnery in recent games.

I would have loved to have seen the stats for the Mothers v Rankers games since McCall took over….not just goals, but fouls, cards, etc.

Think we could have put some pressure on the Mullet during the build up to the game, but Timdom had bigger fish to fry with the Channel 4 ongoing investigation into the dodgy dealings at Mordor as well as the “Assault” court case.

McCoist on shortbread…..’I asked the ref about the Aluko booking. He invited into his room and we had a friendly chat about it. He explained his decision to me so thats fine’. To be fair to Murdo McLeod he promptly asked why there was a different situation at ibrox last week in the same circumstances.

  26. It’s 6, rather than 8 games. Scored 2, conceded 21.
