Football in July, the brilliant Dave King

1046

Celtic play their fifth and final preseason friendly tomorrow before Tuesday’s Champions League qualifier in Armenia.  Five games feels light.  Legs will still be tired after each game, the prospect of 90 minutes in extreme heat will not be welcome.

Opponents Alashkert will have played only three preseason games before facing Celtic, each against lower league Russian opponents, so while they will cope better with the heat, their underlying fitness will not be better than Celtic’s.

In theory, Tuesday’s game should be welcomed as an opportunity to increase preparedness before the tougher challenges that lie ahead.  But this is football in July, when normal rules do not apply, as Lincoln Red Imps demonstrated two years ago.

Loved the lack of logic in Dave King’s written response to BBC’s Alasdair Lamont’s question on the Takeover Panel’s Contempt of Court proceedings.  “The [Takeover Panel] know that I live in [South Africa] and that it will require exchange control approval to move the funds to London.  They are just bullying me”.

The Takeover Panel’s rules (which exist for everyone) that an offer has to have proven funds in the UK is not an actual impediment.  If King’s funds were not in the UK, he would be unable to pay for the shares three weeks after the offer is made.

Takeover Panel rules merely bring the date cash is required forward by three weeks.  Still, I am sure this talk of bullying will make the Takeover Panel think twice before crossing King again.

This guy is beyond brilliant.  He is behaving like this openly.  You know how it ends.

    Found this in the Herald…

“WHERE would Rangers be just now without David Cunningham King?

Would they have just installed Steven Gerrard as their new manager? Would they be waiting to launch a European campaign? Would they have signed seven players who had been identified by their Director of Football? Would they have taken back control of their retail operation? Would they be hopeful of challenging Celtic for silverware in the season ahead? It is all very unlikely.”

No doubt he has shown some class but he dropped off the radar after Zenit away. Not easy to explain unless you’re privy to the day to day stuff. At the end of the day if he is good enough he will force his way in. This season is make or break for him you would think.

    American and Mexican fisherman

An American investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The Mexican replied, “Only a little while.” The American then asked, “Why didn’t you stay out longer and catch more fish?” The Mexican said, “With this I have more than enough to support my family’s needs.” The American then asked, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?” The Mexican fisherman said, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life.”

The American scoffed, “I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing; and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat: With the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats. Eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor; Eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then Los Angeles and eventually New York where you will run your ever-expanding enterprise.”

The Mexican fisherman asked, “But, how long will this all take?” To which the American replied, “15 to 20 years.” “But what then?” asked the Mexican. The American laughed and said that’s the best part. “When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions.” “Millions?…Then what?” The American said, “Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos.”

  16. Taking in all that’s went on over the weekend with the attack on the priest , it’s there for all to see , that the mob are out of control , and the streets for us are a dangerous place to be . I read that the msps are now getting involved . It’s just a token murmur from them, believe me on that score . . Scotland’s finest will also do nothing . Like lots of you guys on here ,I have spent many hours getting filmed by police Scotland , while attending my pastime of following my football team , I have seen young boys getting kettled ,making there way to the game , look it up it’s on you tube . I have also seen footage of two coppers standing in the celtic park toilets while ra people , Wreck the whole area , it’s on you tube also . Where were Scotland’s finest when Scots Nats people were attacked by the hordes in george square , how many arrests then . Which leads me to my main point , I urge celtic fc to refuse tickets to the bigot dome , on the grounds of safety for the 800 . I urge my fellow fans who would otherwise be desperate for a ticket , to look at the consequences of attending , to look out for there own safety , no protection will be afforded you . I have attended scores of matches at the midden over my 60 years of following the hoops . I no longer go ,I no longer miss going . I also hate them ,polluting our stadium with there vile bigoted songs of hate . Don’t risk it bhoys .

“Michael Gove has urged Tory MPs to back a compromise Brexit plan as the best chance of a “proper” exit from the EU….

But he warned the EU had to be more generous or the UK would have no option than to walk away without a deal.”

Blimey, that’ll make the other 27 step back right enough as the UK threaten to put a gun to their own head and pull the trigger.

Disngenuous mince from a Herald hack.

Where would they be? Well no one will ever know for sure but..

If King hadn’t darkened their doorstep they’d most definitely be in better financial shape than they are now.

He colluded with his concert party chums to deliberately lower the share price of the club/company so that it had to be delisted to avoid an A rmageddon melt down in value.

The Takeover Panel followed the trail of email evidence & “convicted” him & his gang of toerags of acting in concert to damage the finances of the company.

That fraudulent action led to King taking control at the expense of Mike Ashley’s investment.

Alienating Ashley, apparently a very rich man (the latest figures I have seen show him worth $3.8billion as at April 2018) – was just a scam to King – but that club are still paying the price for King;s hubris.

SDI (Sports Direct) have been paid out in cash by King (the club) to extract themselves from a retail deal that King didn’t want. Dressed up as best for the club, we saw last week that barra boy King got his erchie handed to him by Ashley in that settlement. King paid 3 million quid to get out of one deal, but Glibby glibly signed up for another deal that handed Ashley an open ended chance to secure shirt & merchandising rights for ever.

SDI are now suing King, Murray the Minor & TRFC.

Had King’s concert party not broken laws/rules to sabotage Charles Geen’s TRFC then all that followed would not have occurred – vis a vis football management & signings from March 2015 to the present day.

    No Warburton, Caixinha or Murty.

No litigation on the issue of sacked or resigned for Warburton & Weir.

No Joey Barton, no Bruno Alves, or all the other duds (Mexican & otherwise)

No Progres, No Scottish Cup Final loss in 2016.

Had they stuck with Green’s regime under Derek Llambias & Barry Leach then likely few if any of these cokups would have occurred.

Further, if Ashley’s stake had been valued & further investment from him secured, they may have ended up financially stable more quickly.

Who knows – Ashley may have wanted to be Chairman.

Without King – the future would not be orange but it would be a lot brighter for those poor souls.

  22. Despite what auldheid May think I have some intellectual pursuits. Sociology and Psychology being among them.

I have long told you of Scotland’s institutional racism. That’s not very clever of me it’s bloody obvious to anyone who can step back.

The story of this attack on the priest is incredibly revealing for a number of reasons.

Firstly the way the story unfolds. Police Scotland did everything they could to downplay it. That instinct said everything, says everything. The gut reaction is that it’s minor, he wasn’t harmed, it wasn’t the OO. Defensive to its core. Damage limitation. It’s Scotland to its core. It screams there isn’t a problem and it’s okay to attack a catholic priest. It’s frankly disgusting. But it’s scotland. It’s interesting now that the politicians had to intervene that they are changing their story. But that takes me to point 2.

The fact that the Catholic Church, quite rightly, angrily go after this story and ask some pretty serious questions has created the panic amongst politicians. Now this is important for loads of reasons. Suddenly, because the Catholic Church says it’s not minor it’s not minor. Now police Scotland change their story entirely and now the media start to properly cover it.

    There is a lesson here.

At a time when the Huns are intimidating everyone, just like police Scotland were playing along with protecting the OO, now is not the time to maintain a dignified (I would say cowardly) silence. If you want to deal with bullying speak out. Be brave. And of course this takes us to Celtics horrific, cowardly silence.

It’s not good enough to stand by and let this happen. Nelson Mandela didn’t believe that silence was the right approach.

They need called out and boy does it work. It takes courage but not everything in life is about money.

Scotland is a sick country. It’s never admitted it’s problem. Every single political party has failed us. The Tory’s love it because it divides us. Labour have been too cowardly, the greens are just prostitutes and the snp? The Snp are wolves in sheeps clothing. They are anti catholic but pretend they aren’t. Just as they are right wing but pretend they are left wing.

Scotland is a disfunctional society. It is a recession away from a Serbia type meltdown. Where the legitimisation of racism is getting worse and where a civil war against its minority cannot be ruled out.

Those who run Celtic and those who run the sfa and SPFL practice appeasement. The Scottish government passed and tried to defend a law criminalising it’s racist victims.

I hope, as long as I don’t die before then, to write a book on this sick society.

    But my god it’s sick.
