I am sure we will see a full strength Celtic team against Inter Milan tomorrow but that doesn’t mean Celtic will be able to overturn their summer form against what will be the best squad of players they have met since facing the same team in the Dublin Cup almost exactly a year ago. Inter will be formidable opponents.
The experimentation of recent weeks will be set aside as Neil Lennon prepares for next week’s enormously important Champions League qualifying game against HJK Helsinki. In particular, we are likely to see a more familiar looking back four and midfield. What happens up front remains to be seen. Celtic have struggled to get into scoring form preseason; the manager will be keen to resolve this, if possible.
Most of all we need a 90 minutes free of elbows in the face and other injuries as the real stuff is only five days away.

So they are provisionally accepted then? A kind of provisional R(IA)?

Does anyone know if wednesday nights match is televised?
The membership fiasco must be brought to a head. Regan has the authority to oust the r@ngers, though he would prefer not to be seen to cast the fatal blow. In conjunction with Doncaster; their tactics appear to be to force Green to dig his own grave.
As soon as Green puts a team on the park, he will be under pressure from all quarters to deliver the reality of running a football club with very little funds; more significantly, the tax man would take great interest in the trade name of the Ibrox club
Green is loathed to change tact, which would require him to confirm the death of oldco.
Charles Green is in a lose/lose situation. From the outset of this shambles; r@ngers have hedge their bets on every issue, matters could have been made straight forward if that they had accepted responsibility for their actions; and had not expected to be bailed out by others.
Even if an SFA membership of any kind is granted, does anyone really think this story is over?

if sevco take to the field with the old rfc(in liquidation )
colours and badge .
the old club has not been liquidated by BDO yet.
and still holds an spl share
how can 2 clubs still have the same badge and history at the same time

Are you related to Sparkleghirl ? ;-)

What if it’s a draw on Saturday? The provisional R(IA) licence will HAVE to be extended won’t it? You can’t allow them to play but not replay.

I’m sure the tax man will ask the same question.
raymilland
No, CFCplc/fc have lost out on millions and the fans have lost the pleasure of competing and travelling as a great support to top clubs throughout Europe.
Will we be financially compensated by the SFA/UEFA or seek damages against oldco/ newco, no one seems to be bothering about this though Im sure our CEO has mentioned it, perhaps this will be our ticket to elsewhere.
If the provisonal RiA don’t win on Sunday there will be a split, it’s always the way of things

Aw the best to you.
Evening all,
On the subject of Pauls leader I think what we have seen in pre season is an insight into Neil Lennons Plan B, C and D’s.
The experiments gave us all an opportunity to see whats in the locker of the present management team.
Maybe each wasnt given enough time to gel – maybe once the players got used to the systems and formations being asked of them, there would have been a marked, or an eventual improvement.
Or maybe we have all seen that there is a very important need to replace Alan Thompson with a european, tactical coach.
I’ll point to one aspect, which seemed to be a focal point in all the systems tried – move the ball out wide for a cross into the box.
Especially in Europe, we have to work damn hard to win possession and even harder to keep it.
If we had a John Hartson or a Chris Sutton in the box I would understand the logic, but with current personnel I dont find it quite as easy.
when the ball leaves the crossers foot it instantly becomes no better than a 50/50 chance of it continuing, much less so when you have a hooper, a samaras and / or a stokes in the box.
It was especially noticeable against Norwich when cross after cross landed to a norwich defenders head – or sailed wastefully out of play.
I am in no way criticising Lennon, but is it fair to say lets face it, playing the ball into the box isnt really his bag, or the big mans? Its not something he ever tried, or was coached to be fair to him.
Which is why I would like to see him employ someone who has studied the european game, played and excelled in it, and can point Lennon and big Johan in the right direction.
If we go into Europe as rigidly and laboured as we currently are, then we wont make much of an impression I fear.
Thoughts anyone?
Well hands up, last week I thought the SFA could’nt have made a bigger hash of the R@ngers insolvency.
Wrong!!!
The SPL now putting their footdown on something and demanding clarity on sanctions, we know how they feel. Could I suggest that Mr Doncaster’s statement that Insolvency was the same as a CVA was not helpful.
But the cabal wants the Glede Park event to take place, there is loads of Mugs and a lot of Hedging, Brechin making preparations also.
Just glad their oot of oor backyard!
Notice the contrast tomorrow, hope Celtic invite the hapless Englishmen to Parkhead to show them what Scottish Football stands for.
Celtic 2-1 Inter Milan

Next question Are you a Hibee
Just back from a 1,000 mile road trip to Glasgow via Yorkshire……managed to get to the Norwich friendly, thanks to two tickets given to us by my brilliant youngest brother. Lovely. (He point-blank absolutely refused to accept payment from us and insisted we go,even though he was unable to accompany us,because he’s done himself an injury at work. He’s a cool kinda mhan.)
Anyway, the upshot of it all is that my Mrs. now wants to live in the West of Scotland and join The Green Brigade!…….
Never mind the score (another topic already done to death here and elsewhere!), she enjoyed herself immensely…..how could you not?
It’s Celtic F.C. @ Celtic Park,and win,lose or draw….well….you know the rest.
Absolutely knackered…..you go on holiday, and come back needing a holiday……
……HH!
Oh yeah……my CQN badges were waiting whe I got back…..smashin’!
If you haven’t got one….get one,or two!
They’re wee works of art.

Was a season ticket holder for 10 years at CP.

Many thanks and HH
Tomorrow’s game is being shown live on the Inter TV Channel over here. I don’t have it but going round to a friend’s house (he supports Inter strangely enough)!! I will be wearing the hoops but not my scarf – it’s too bloody hot!
Can’t believe it’s not being shown over in Scotland! TV companies must be too busy making preparations for the big(ot) match at picturesque Glebe Park! Hope they’ve trimmed the hedge! Or is it a bush?
HH!!
Eyes Wide Open on 27 July, 2012 at 19:22
Spot on.
But maybe the tactic in the friendlies of putting it wide for a cross every time ties with the otherwise strange decision to field the big man?
When’s the quiz start?
Is Sevco the Continuity R(IA)?
WonderingCSC
