George Peat still casting shadow

1187

Predicting what is about to happen in Scottish football is a bit of an art.  We all realise that just about everyone has an agenda, so the first thing most of us do is ignore whatever overt line is being promoted by one or two sources of ill-repute, especially when they suggest that Sevco will definitely play football in the SFL First Division next season.

So far around 11 clubs have intimated they will vote against this proposal while only Stenhousmuir, the very club that stepped forward to give former SFA president George Peat a seat of the board after he completed his work with Airdrieoneans, have offered the Loyal support.

Apart from Stenhousmuir, only Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster seem keen on the idea of allowing Sevco to start their sporting life in two levels up from the bottom.

Ally McCoist spoke some wise words to online channel, Rangers TV (current ownership model unclear).  Having gained some first-hand managerial experience against Falkirk last season, McCoist knows that First Division football would give Sevco no guarantee of promotion.  He complained that he has only six first team players at the moment, although didn’t add “and they are rubbish”.

There is also the suspicion that Sevco are not shifting a lot of season tickets, income levels could be acutely low, and their potential fans appear to have no more appetite for a grubby accommodation than anyone else.  Apart from Stenhousmuir, Regan and Doncaster, of course.

McCoist addressed the prospect of additional punishments to be handed to Sevco for the misdemeanours of Rangers as a further reason to go straight to the bottom of the pile, however, he didn’t touch on the obvious point.

The only way Sevco are going to avoid penalties for Rangers EBT behaviour is if the former club is found to have acted correctly, or if Sevco make no claims to inherit Rangers club licence, name, badge or other unique identifiers.

Anyway, we have Inter Milan, Real Madrid and the Champions League qualifiers to look forward to. Bring them on!

I hear there may be a splash of rain later today, that should suffice!!

Enjoy your holiday and worry not your baskets will be just fine :-)

  2. McCoist hilarious again in todays papers.

“We have been punished enough”, no punishments yet Ally just consequences of your cheating clubs actions. Punishments will come soon enough, titles stripped, prison time all await the players, managers and directors of the former club known as Rangers.

Steve Davis jumps ship to Southampton, Goram and Brown the spokesmen for the Newco fans, fantastic stuff and its raining on the Orangina parades.

Off to Glasgow soon with Mrs RobinBhoy who insists on shopping there today, will smile widely if I see any Sevco strips in the street.

    Have a nice afternoon all.

porto’s model is based on finding good young players and access to south americian market is good for this purpose, but football is played throughout the world and there are many good young players in europe centre, eastern, western and further afield.

celtic recruited victor for 1 million, whats his value today?

forrest through the youth system, whats his value?

mathews for free, whats his value?

hooper for 2 million, what was last bid?

ki for 2 million, what would celtic get for him know?

rogne for 200k, what is a good price for him?

charlie for free, what price now?

kayel 1 million, what price now?

    ledley free, whats has value?

izzy for 600k, having a laugh, whats his value now?

foster 2 million, is he worth more?

a good scouting network finding quality young players opens up the door to using similiar system to porto surely? another thing is that if you can find good enough young player you get the opportunity to state your case for a work permit, so if they are good enough you should be able to get them in.

Re–post from kingoh’s link last night:

Aberdeen supporters have formed a group, aiming to financially aid clubs who stand up for the principle of sporting integrity.

The group, called Aberdeen Fans For Sporting Integrity, aim to sponsor individuals or mascots from teams who have been vocal in their support for sporting principles, and may suffer financially as a result.

The group have already confirmed that they will be sponsoring Raith Rovers’ mascot Roary Rover for next season, after their club chairman, Turnbull Hutton, spoke publicly of his frustration over the current state of Scottish football, and pressure he feels is being exerted on SFL clubs.

Talks are ongoing with further clubs who have expressed similar views, with the aim of showing that not only are supporters behind the increasingly blurred notion of “sporting integrity”, but also that it is fans who have the true power in the game.

The idea was the brainchild of Joe Whimster, who hopes to continue raising money through fan pledges, to continue to sponsor SFL clubs.

He said: “The purpose of starting this initiative was simple.

“Our game must be based on honesty and integrity and finding that has been increasingly difficult in recent months as various agendas muddy the waters.

“The statements of Turnbull Hutton and Raith Rovers have been refreshingly open, as have those from other clubs who have spoken out against those who wish to put personal interest ahead of fairness.

“Although we may not support these clubs, we support their stance and are prepared to back that with a small gesture such as player sponsorship.”

While the formation of the group has been to show support for SFL clubs who stick to notions of sporting integrity, Joe also believes that it sends a strong message about the power of supporters, who he feels have been largely ignored by the authorities in Scotland.

He continued: “The impetus is now very much with the fans of our game.

“This has always been where the real power is. Fans have been crying out for change, across all levels of Scottish football for a long time.

“Fan ownership of clubs is on the rise, fans are increasingly involved and connect via social media. The current crisis in Scottish football allows fans at every level to have their say in how our game emerges from this period.”

Any money which remains from the supporter pledges following the sponsorship of SFL clubs will be given to the Beat Bullying charity, while any shirts or merchandise that comes as part of a sponsorship package will be given to children’s charities.

know of many other families in the same boat.

Every kit should have a 2 year shelf life, especially with the current prices.

Anything less, I personally view as opportunistic commercialism which replaces fan with customer and play on the customers loyalty.

    —-

Because his interest is not in participating in a football competition, nor managing a football club. His interest is to asset strip all that remains of RFC IA for the biggest buck. The failure to obtain top flight football will give him a reason for selling off the assets to the highest bidder (as the alternative is for Sevco to go into administration) and he walks away with a few million quid profit.

Is it true that there are more British men in the Wimbledon finals this weekend than there are senior players at Sevco?

If the kits lasted two years rather than one year, you would just halve the amount of untrained toddler cries and young folk’s whines, rather than solve the issue.

As a parent, I am full of admiration for all those who cope with crying toddlers by being firm and patient and not giving in. We need to help parents feel comfortable rather than judged when they are dealing with toddler demands.

Maybe they should take a leaf out of Peter Lawwell’s books and see how he copes with fans demanding big signings :-)
