George Peat still casting shadow

1187

Predicting what is about to happen in Scottish football is a bit of an art.  We all realise that just about everyone has an agenda, so the first thing most of us do is ignore whatever overt line is being promoted by one or two sources of ill-repute, especially when they suggest that Sevco will definitely play football in the SFL First Division next season.

So far around 11 clubs have intimated they will vote against this proposal while only Stenhousmuir, the very club that stepped forward to give former SFA president George Peat a seat of the board after he completed his work with Airdrieoneans, have offered the Loyal support.

Apart from Stenhousmuir, only Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster seem keen on the idea of allowing Sevco to start their sporting life in two levels up from the bottom.

Ally McCoist spoke some wise words to online channel, Rangers TV (current ownership model unclear).  Having gained some first-hand managerial experience against Falkirk last season, McCoist knows that First Division football would give Sevco no guarantee of promotion.  He complained that he has only six first team players at the moment, although didn’t add “and they are rubbish”.

There is also the suspicion that Sevco are not shifting a lot of season tickets, income levels could be acutely low, and their potential fans appear to have no more appetite for a grubby accommodation than anyone else.  Apart from Stenhousmuir, Regan and Doncaster, of course.

McCoist addressed the prospect of additional punishments to be handed to Sevco for the misdemeanours of Rangers as a further reason to go straight to the bottom of the pile, however, he didn’t touch on the obvious point.

The only way Sevco are going to avoid penalties for Rangers EBT behaviour is if the former club is found to have acted correctly, or if Sevco make no claims to inherit Rangers club licence, name, badge or other unique identifiers.

Anyway, we have Inter Milan, Real Madrid and the Champions League qualifiers to look forward to. Bring them on!

  8. I’m always amused when the police come out and tell the O.O to “leave the sectarianism at home”……ahem…… when oot on their march

All quiet down here in Ayr though they’ve already had a few over the Jubilee weekend so maybe the bigots are all drummed out.

Ridiculous how much respect and time is afforded by the authorities to a group of outdated, neanderthal bigots. Maybe with Rangers dead some might actually go to a church!

My thoughts about Hadrians Wall .

The romans defeated every warrior tribe in Europe, we would of been no different ( eventually)

But my theory is they came up in the Summer, wearing togas and the midges got them……….forget bout it, build a wall !!!

Has anyone noticed the the orangitang walks are a lot different to what they used to be …….. A lot less in attendance, and they try to convince us they are a non-sectarian organisation, who are tolerant to other religions …..let me tell you, they are no different to what they were 50 years ago …… They are just being tolerated less ……….Would love to know how many of the 10,000 in Stirling today have actually seen the inside of a Church since their childhood.

  20. in the papers today saying that celtic may need to sell because of the financial difficulties in scotland and the demise of the huns. and there i thought we had always been a selling club, how exactly did we build this team, thats right, by selling mcgready and co, so a no story. for what its worth, if celtic have to sell in order to ensure thems start from division 3 then thats alright by me. start will all the fringe players and end with the fringe players. we have a wealth of good young players who could offer more for far less.

over the course of this season we have moved on chavi, hooivel, glenda, danial, o’dea, wilson, cha, mcginn, juarez, that must be a good £80,000k per week (£4,160,000 of the wage bill per year), if we can move blackman, mccourt, duncan, murphy and thompson that should be at least £30k per week so another £1,560,000. total £5,720,000 per year. sell ki for the 6-8 million being talked about and sign a centreback and centreforward with money to spare. overall we should have made a saving of 4 million per season on wages, while having strengthened the team. i dont believe for a minute that we will lose more than £4 million per year from the loss of thems.

we could do worse than look at porto’s model of selling players on a yearly basis for profit and reinvestment in young players with a max of 5 mainstay player to maintain the core of the team. any money gained from european competition should not be factored into overall wages and is not at celtic so should be used to develop other revenue i.e celtic triangle. p.s. without the cheats overspending there is an opportunity for every club to stop overspending in an attempt/ need to compete allowing for a more natuaral level of spending

    No to newco

Growing up in the Gorbals I saw a few walks going down Ballater St until they seemed to be banned from that area- and they always stopped outside St Lukes and belted out their pash tunes. I seem to remember one year that Fr Campeon, saviour of many a soo-side soul and coordinator of the St Francis Pipe Band must have had enough and had us play “Faith of our fathers” three times in a row outside Hayfield St? church

  22. Hi Gents,

For all the guys who were kind enough to donate strips the last few months can you think of a charity here or abroad where we can donate the strips as i won’t be going back to Jordan, Unfortunately.

I know the club have this summer gone ahead with the idea i put on here in february ;-) where you can put any old celtic shirts in and get a t-shirt in return, Maybe a good idea to put all the celtic shirts in and tell them to give the 100+ free t-shirts to Africa aswel. All ideas welcome. I will email you all when i get a chance.

What is it with the editors of those Stupid wee Newcastle fanzines?

Classless writing and an inexplicable axe to grind against us.

So Forster is both rubbish and called lurch by “Celtic fans”.

    Not in my world.

When they played us in a pre season game in 96 (I think, first game back at cp, Andy Thom debut… 1-1, we scored a pen, I think) I was next to their fans with no segregation.

They were horrible. I liked them up to that point. Hunnic is the only word.
