George Peat still casting shadow

1187

Predicting what is about to happen in Scottish football is a bit of an art.  We all realise that just about everyone has an agenda, so the first thing most of us do is ignore whatever overt line is being promoted by one or two sources of ill-repute, especially when they suggest that Sevco will definitely play football in the SFL First Division next season.

So far around 11 clubs have intimated they will vote against this proposal while only Stenhousmuir, the very club that stepped forward to give former SFA president George Peat a seat of the board after he completed his work with Airdrieoneans, have offered the Loyal support.

Apart from Stenhousmuir, only Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster seem keen on the idea of allowing Sevco to start their sporting life in two levels up from the bottom.

Ally McCoist spoke some wise words to online channel, Rangers TV (current ownership model unclear).  Having gained some first-hand managerial experience against Falkirk last season, McCoist knows that First Division football would give Sevco no guarantee of promotion.  He complained that he has only six first team players at the moment, although didn’t add “and they are rubbish”.

There is also the suspicion that Sevco are not shifting a lot of season tickets, income levels could be acutely low, and their potential fans appear to have no more appetite for a grubby accommodation than anyone else.  Apart from Stenhousmuir, Regan and Doncaster, of course.

McCoist addressed the prospect of additional punishments to be handed to Sevco for the misdemeanours of Rangers as a further reason to go straight to the bottom of the pile, however, he didn’t touch on the obvious point.

The only way Sevco are going to avoid penalties for Rangers EBT behaviour is if the former club is found to have acted correctly, or if Sevco make no claims to inherit Rangers club licence, name, badge or other unique identifiers.

Anyway, we have Inter Milan, Real Madrid and the Champions League qualifiers to look forward to. Bring them on!

Wonder if Jabba will notice that suggestion.

  6. One thing Alex Thomson still doesn’t seem to have grasped is the influence of the masonic movement in Scotland, their links to RFC (ia/l) and their opposition to all things Catholic.

His presence in reporting of this story has been vital but he still has a very, very long way to go.

Archie really is living in the past, as someone else pointed out he comes across as a ‘traditionalist’ but he seems to be out of touch with modern day football.

Cowan is still a wee fud, how do people like him get time on the airwaves?

As usual Alex comes across as intelligent, articulate and honest and S. Cosgrove keeps going up in my estimation too.

  10. Another pearl of wisdom from sneering Mark Hateley :

“The standard of football in this country has declined massively since I stopped playing at Ibrox.”

  11. I don’t know if the ussian media tell the truth on that. If the story is true it’s going to cause huge scandal in England. According to that media, before the Euro started Russian FA Chief Mr. Fursenko signed contract with Roberto Mancini. Roberto Mancini will soon leave Manchester City and will take the post of Russia coach.

I met his son at a party in Liverpool many years ago-can’t remember if he was playing for Oldham or Everton at that time.

My uncle also played with Joe senior at Scotland Schoolboy level-unfortunately never saw him playing for Celtic but what a goalscoring record!

The Russian claim has been described in Italy as lacking ” reliable confirmation “.

It has been rumored that Mancini has signed a 6 year contract for 7.2 million euros a year . Rumored contract also said to include a clause whereby if Russia sack Mancini they will give him 20 million euros in redundancy pay ..

We’ll soon see if it’s true.
