George Peat still casting shadow

1187

Predicting what is about to happen in Scottish football is a bit of an art.  We all realise that just about everyone has an agenda, so the first thing most of us do is ignore whatever overt line is being promoted by one or two sources of ill-repute, especially when they suggest that Sevco will definitely play football in the SFL First Division next season.

So far around 11 clubs have intimated they will vote against this proposal while only Stenhousmuir, the very club that stepped forward to give former SFA president George Peat a seat of the board after he completed his work with Airdrieoneans, have offered the Loyal support.

Apart from Stenhousmuir, only Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster seem keen on the idea of allowing Sevco to start their sporting life in two levels up from the bottom.

Ally McCoist spoke some wise words to online channel, Rangers TV (current ownership model unclear).  Having gained some first-hand managerial experience against Falkirk last season, McCoist knows that First Division football would give Sevco no guarantee of promotion.  He complained that he has only six first team players at the moment, although didn’t add “and they are rubbish”.

There is also the suspicion that Sevco are not shifting a lot of season tickets, income levels could be acutely low, and their potential fans appear to have no more appetite for a grubby accommodation than anyone else.  Apart from Stenhousmuir, Regan and Doncaster, of course.

McCoist addressed the prospect of additional punishments to be handed to Sevco for the misdemeanours of Rangers as a further reason to go straight to the bottom of the pile, however, he didn’t touch on the obvious point.

The only way Sevco are going to avoid penalties for Rangers EBT behaviour is if the former club is found to have acted correctly, or if Sevco make no claims to inherit Rangers club licence, name, badge or other unique identifiers.

Anyway, we have Inter Milan, Real Madrid and the Champions League qualifiers to look forward to. Bring them on!

In fact, what can there be in common between the vile multitude and sublime wisdom? The truth must be kept secret, and the masses need a teaching proportioned to their imperfect reason.

Something has been playing on my mind since GCT mentioned it a few weeks ago. He is of the opinion that Sevco choppers will not be playing in any division next season. I am beginning to believe him. What do you think?

    Mags,

GCT has been right. There will be NO hun newco ANYWHERE until Cowdenbearth accept their horrid fate. It must be like that scene in Omen 2, when Damien realises he is the anti-Christ.

Heart felt sympathies and genuine love to the supporters of Cowdenbeath. For a wee while, yer club was only semi-ugly.

Now yous are goin Nuclear cos you don’t have the BALLS to stop Findlay raping yer club.

    HH eh?

  9. You’ve got to laugh . Police are warning the followers of the orange parade in Glasgow against bigotry and sectarian chanting today. Of course the people who are actually marching, playing flutes and bashing big drums whilst some wee angel throws his mace high into the sky are thoroughly decent people! Makes you want to puke.

  10. To the family and friends of Lurgan53, I too would like to offer my sincere condolences on your sad loss.

great day for the rain in glasgow city center ;))))))))))

the wee bigot goalie in the HUN

But, for the sake of Scottish football and the future of the game in this country, the ONLY thing to do is to parachute Gers into Division One.

And if Rangers do find themselves playing in the First Division then they must be sanction-free.

bring Rangers men back to the club and really start from there

they cheated all their life with one club and now want to start breaking all the rules with a new club

and scottish football need all the rules to be broken so the game can flourish

  12. no matter how often talk/whine about where will Rangers be playing, just tell them Rangers will not be playing anywhere, Rangers will die from liquidation, there will be no more Rangers, why does the MSM not explain that to them

Yes I remember non-segregation when i went to games with my dad in the late 60’s and early 70’s -there was a recognised ‘away end’ at most grounds and we would try to make for there if early enough arriving at the ground. Generally there were pockets of Celtic fans mixed in with locals and there was lots of good old craic going on and the odd few wee scuffles from time to time. The way I remember it if anyone was giving any ‘chat’ about fenians or taigs etc the guys would all be just tell them to shut up and watch the game they would often say ‘mind the boay’ using the fact that there was a kid about to calm tempers and language (it often seemed to work)..there were car loads of Celtic fans so wee groups of 4 or 5 or more in pockets around the place …I know my dad and his pals often got ‘in tow’ with another car load of Celts for mutual protection n the ground. There were not many colours in those days and i wasn’t allowed to wear a scarf to games until I was going on my own (about 15 years old and had to hide it up my juke from my mum)

Mainly it was good natured stuff and I remember one game at Arbroath when I was down the front with all the other wee boys and Jinky was warming up and he smiled and waved …I just knew he was smiling at me of course and excitedly ran back up the terracing to tell my dad ….I remember an old local guy reassuring me that he did wave directly at me (I never saw the knowing smiles that passed between the men)

I do remember one incident when we were in with Hearts fans at Tynecastle and there was a lot more ‘chat’ going on than usual, I knew my dad was very uncomfortable that day -then a bottle hit a fan in front of us -he left immediately and he never returned to another game until I took him to the Dynamo Kiev game in 86 and he was at CP with my son to see Naka put Manure to the sword and he loved it ,,,but that Tynecastle incident was the final straw and he was lost to the game …a guy that went everywhere to watch football under 23 internationals on wet Tuesday nights at Hampden he was there with me or my brothers crammed into his wee green Hillman imp KYS 600E….he told me he went to Ibrox in the 50’s and 60’S if they were playing a European team as it was the only way to see the stars of the period. He never went to Ibrox when I was around. in fact we never did get ot watch a game against the huns …and now we probably never will ..now there’s a thought

It would be great if we could have mixed sections at grounds and I sense we still do as there are always Celts in the home support at grounds – although attitudes have changed and not sure ‘mind the boay’ would have quite the same impact these days. Then again I never thought 11 sets of SPL fans would agitate for a vote to boot der hun out of the league!

for what it’s worth I feel fans at the other clubs only use taigs/fenian/pape abuse as a way of winding up our support and trying to gain an advantage against players (not saying that there are not sections who are total sectarian thugs ) -one example to inform that view -for a period when I was playing football on Saturdy afternoons I also went to Love Street to catch the 2nd half the buddies in the North Bank giving out to the currants -OB FKB the whole works …then a few weeks later the same guys hurling similar FTP FB to Celts

Mainly it’s ‘chat’ – not confusing or condoning sectarian abuse at all – sometimes tho’ it’s all they have to get a wind up….. sad as that is

My point is they were dealing it out to both Celts and rankers

rankers discovered just how much no-one like them last week and suspect they will be having second helpings on Friday the 13th July
