Gerrard throws Morelos under the Lamborghini

386

Just six days after Steven Gerrard pondered if his team had the “bottle” to mount a title challenge, they were unable to overcome Aberdeen at home.  Were it not for Sam Cosgrove having an off day, all three points may have travelled north after the game.

Gerrard’s reaction was typically selfless, “We’re definitely doing something right in terms of the team organisation [trans: I’m good at my job], but I think individuals in it today let us down a bit by giving big chances away [trans: it’s the players fault].

Having absolved himself of all blame, Gerrard went on to throw Morelos under the Lamborghini, “The biggest [chances]were obviously one in the first-half, Alfredo should put Ryan Kent through on goal and the second he should have taken the chance that was presented to him with a fantastic ball by Connor.”

This is not a positive sign.  Good managers are strong enough to open themselves to criticism in order to protect their players.  This guy sounds like he has self-doubts.  Not without reason.

The weekend’s action ended in typical fashion with the champions stretching their lead to seven points, albeit having played a game more than the also-rans.

Credit to Hamilton Accies, who battled with 10-men before collapsing after the 78th minute.  Celtic were uninspiring until that point, but they are champions for a reason.  The game transformed with the arrival from the bench of Jonny Hayes, Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic.  Rogic, in particular, has patiently waited his chance.  I would start him at Fir Park on Wednesday.

  1. watched our Leighs alleged stamp again and have to say that it wasn’t a deliberate stamp , in you watch closely you will see that as the Hamilton player goes to ground Leighs left foot lands on top to their players upper right arm and Leigh actually tries to jump up and lift his left foot clear as not to hurt t the Hamilton player just as he rolls inwards towards Leigh who now has both feet of the ground , Leigh tries to keep his balance and accidentally catches the Hamilton player with his right foot toe section of his boot as the Hamilton player turns towards Leigh , not guilty.

Our third goal yesterday was the best of the lot and showed what can be done with skill , imagination and understanding between two top class players . Tom receives the ball from Eddy on his left and instead of moving it back to Eddy in the same direction , he slips it to the right of the defender . Eddy has anticipated it and latches on to score before any Hamilton player can do a thing about it.

That is what you call a goal.

you are correct it was ayer that failed to jump and was slow to react.

  4. The media campaign since yesterday to give Griff a retrospective ban is quite something. Did the huns lose a game by any chance?

I must have missed Julians “Headed” Goal v Hamilton…..or maybe I need to go to specsavers as I could have sworn he used his right foot…very deftly ?

Also, I was sure that it was young Ajer that allowed the hun to score with his head at Celtic Park last December and not Julian ?

Yes well spotted Big Jimmy as regards to CJ’s goal yesterday was with his right foot by an on a plate

cross from Johnny Hayes as for Sevco’s second goal on the 29/12/19 that goal came from a corner

which should have been a bye kick to us & Fraser Foster should be @ least covering his six yard

box instead of standing there like a Lamp & Southampton alledgedly wants 25 Million for their

3rd choice goal keeper no chance so not only do we need to look @ with thorough & sensible

research for players to strengthening our defence we also need to look @ bringing in another

Goalkeeper as well cause Craig Gordon & Wee Bain are not the Answer

I agree. That goal involved skills seldom seen in Scottish football. It won`t even be mentioned in any Best Goals Competition but that does not detract from the quality.

agree , very similar to build up up OE headed goal against st j.

  9. I see the manager [brian rice?]who could not talk yesterday as he was banned for cheating against primary football rules has come out today and called our striker Leigh Griff a coward and a thug [of course he used different words, but that is what a player who deliberately stamps is]

    Shame on this sad individual.

All the decent faith I had for him is gone…

Leigh Griffiths would never deliberately to that and he did not do it yesterday.

Take the blinkers off and watch the incident and you will see this.

    ‘NO DEBATE’…he insists

‘griff should have had a red card’

Well mate to me there is ‘no debate’ you should be booted out of football for life for what you did.

The amount of mawkish praise and support he has had has been a nonsense.

  10. Do these home and away games even themselves out somehow? Is there a simple reason as to why we have got so many away in February? And why they have got so many home games?

What happened to the old days, home one week, away the next?

more of these types of goals continue gone the bhoys & get it in there

  13. AKBW – where did you get the 25 million figure for Foster from? Can’t see them wanting or expecting anything close to that. Maybe 3-4 years ago.

  14. If Sevco win the game in hand they have over Hibs, Sevco will have double the points of the Edinburgh side. That would suggest Sevco are a far better side. Why, then, would the Ibrox Club want to take an apparently lesser player on loan? Why, also, would Hibs be willing to let this happen? It cannot all be down to Rod Petrie (sp) can it?

    Indeed.

But then again why wouldn’t they?

One of the tiresome themes of modern business is finding “synergies” (yawn).

In this instance it makes obvious sense.

The Sevco board and the SMSM are conning money out of the same, dumb demographic.

Re: the Leigh “incident” – was simply not any kind of intentional stamp. Lenny called is correctly when stating that Leigh shouldn’t have pushed the Hamilton player in the afters. However, some consideration needs to be given regarding the provocation LG received. Usual attempts to wind him up

    .

The Leigh “Incident” yesterday is a strom in a tea cup that Hamilton numpty player pulled

Leigh’s leg towards him so Leigh did not intentionally stamp on said Hamilton Player that

was a lie as for Leigh shoving that tall numpty of a Hamilton Player that was because after

the so called allegedly stamping lie you will see that tall numpty Hamilton player making

a big barging shove into Leigh’s back before Leiigh shoved tall numpty back these hammer

thrower players in the Scottish game can get a bit physical especially when things are not

    going there way

Completely agree mate – anything to take their minds off the fact that we are getting nearer the 9…!

  21. Our approach to taking throw ins at glacier like pace finally paid off when Hayes , forgetting his job was to walk around the hoarding,, pick up the ball, look for another player to arrive to take the throw in after Hayes had positioned himself to receive the ball with an opposing defender so close, the term “sod off” might be used, instead leapt the hoarding like a kangaroo on a pogo stick and – GASP – threw the ball to Christie to cross whilst half the Hamilton team had nipped off for a pint when they saw Hayes go to fetch the ball.

Straight out of the cunning throw in manual in the chapter titled. ” Throw Ins. Lulling the Opposition into a False Sense of Security- (works every time once a season.)”

Deniabhoy, if you look @ our SPFL fixtures this Season so far on the CelticFC.Net website under First Team

Fixture List you will notice that we have played Thirteen Home matches out of Nineteen over the course of

A Season however whoever is in charge of laying out these fixtures is at it in other words with all these potential Banana skins all over the place especially our away domestic fixtures this hun numpty who was

  26. after last nights away game , we have now played an equal number of 12 games home and away in the SPL.

  31. FC Copenhagen currently drawing 0-0 after 73mins to Norkopping in the Atlantic cup, they beat Astana 1-0 the other day … it’s like role reversal when we face Scandinavian teams in the qualifiers for the champions league .. this team we are mid season .. a terrific chance to get to the last 16 :-)

Braga who the Sevs face have been outstanding since changing their manager .. think they have won 7 on the trot
