Going one better next season

943

We had a special night at the Celtic Supporters’ Association’s 67th Annual Rally last night.  It was great to see our two treble winning captains: Tom Boyd giving praise to the giant of the European game, Billy McNeill.

I had a chat with Scott Brown, who received his Association Player of the Year award.  A day before he collects his fourth consecutive league championship trophy you’d think he would afford a moment of satisfaction, but he’s not happy this isn’t a treble winning season.  The events at Hampden last month have left an open wound.  All he could talk about was going one better next season.

Before you leave for the game tomorrow remember to bring along some change to buy a Ronny Roar badge to raise funds for the work of your Foundation.  See you there.

you might not like my answers

try us, I’d have liked us to resign and start in the English conference (bottom tear) but I’d imagine that is a no goer.

They could push for reform of the refereeing dept.

I know that proving bias and cheating would be impossible, but simple accountability and transparency….

It still should not have stopped them telling the truth, blokes like Auldheid have furnished Celtic with proof of what has been going on, expose them at every turn.

It’s no as if a level playing field is wrong is it ????

  3. well I personally would pack it in but that’s my own opinion rather stay in cheaters league.

IF TRFC get promoted the level of their current squad is not good enough to mount a serious title challenge.

The last time they tried to follow a buy cheap and develop policy under PLG it soon unravelled because the quality of that financially constrained squad simply was not good enough to satisfy the bear appetite for trophies.

Back in 2007 RFC had the option of borrowing over the odds to buy a team that could compete. That option no longer exists but I do wonder if that lesson of history has been learned so the possibility that it will be repeated still exists.

I’ve just enjoyed the seasons without them as the angst caused by being beaten by a club whom we thought were being favoured and now know for certain that they were to the point of breaking the rules to survive, most probably with SFA knowledge, disappeared.

It removed the joy from football and if you have no joy in football what exactly is its point?

So I hope Motherwell beat them to extend by one more season the joy of being unaffected by their skullduggery.

After that I hope we pump them so regularly they become Espanyolified.

Borussia have missed out on a Europa league place also

As results currently stand they sit in Europa League Qualifying Round position

  11. Tom McLaughlin ,

you are wrong tom I want cheating to stop and the only way to stop it is not be a part of it just my opinion,

  12. South Of Tunis on

    Borussia Dortmund.?

Last time I saw them they were humped 0 -3 by Rube ( 5 -1 aggregate.. ) Buffon made one save in the 3 – 0 game in Dortmund..

Does anyone really believe the Motherwell lot will stop the hun from gaining wrongful access into the top division?

No me neither. Anyone got the stats for them V huns, it must read pure shyte.

  14. Lot of comment on what Celtic could or should have done about alleged cheating.

A matter of opinion as to whether Celtic could or should have done about ‘Honest Mistakes’.

However, leaving the above aside, Celtic could and should have raised the question that the SFA and the Scottish media avoids like the plague.

That is. If for the reflected glory and retention of trophies the present THEY are oldco, then why are THEY not oldco for debts accrued on administration day?

That is something that Celtic could and should be doing. But Celtic won’t because they will do nothing that will stop THEM being in top league next season.

  15. Burgas…,

You need to take I to account who managed Motherwell for most of those meetings, I actually believe Motherwell will be too strong for der hun and the only way der hun will get a result will be through cheating refs.

As bad as they are Motherwell have been playing in a faster fitter league against far better opposition than anything der hun have met.

  16. burgas hoops…

When the mullet was the motherwell manager it was embarrassing to say the least, hoping with a new manager and a good few tims in their team….they f**k the huns.

We don’t need any monkey huns :)))

  17. Quonno –

This was discussed the other day. By law, Newco are not responsible for Odlco’s debts, because Oldco were liquidated.

Nothing Celtic can do or say will change that.

  18. Burgas hoops

McCall’s record for Motherwell against Rangers (both teams) is no wins and one draw from eight matches, scoring two goals and conceding 23.

Fair enough on the money side. Having said that, although he has never repeated it, Paul Murray has made mutterings about paying oldco’s debts.

However, Celtic and the SFA can and should question the concept of newco retaining oldco’s trophies.

  21. Trying to reign in the paranoia a bit. Did McCall do any better or worse against THEM than the average Scottish manager.

Just a guess but aren’t the mini huns their bogie team?? All others seem to collapse against them, even the wonderful Dons

  23. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Burgas hoops, as has been previously pointed out mccall’s record against both clubs who have played at ibrox, was shall we say, not the best.

Hopefully, the well manager will set his team up to win. Mcdonald, mcmanus and pearson won’t be intimidated by playing sevco. That should help the other motherwell players and as much as lasley is not held in high regard by us, i don’t think he will be intimidated by them also.

The scary looking sev, nicky law’s, brother, plays for well.
