Graft and dedication behind Forster meteoric rise

991

Every Celtic fan will be delighted Fraser Forster was included in the England World Cup squad.  Fraser joined Celtic on loan four years ago, becoming a permanent member of staff in 2012.  His transformation over that period has been remarkable, which is no fluke.

He is the most dedicated footballer at the club.  First in each morning, around 2.5 hours before official start time, he’s also last out of Lennoxtown almost every day.  He is possibly the most complete 365-day-a-year athlete we’ve ever had.  This is a player who has set high personal achievement goals and has allowed no distractions to get in his way.

Enormous credit also has to go to the man who has guided him through his meteoric rise in recent seasons, goalkeeper coach Stevie Woods.  Without the focus, technical development and remedial work Stevie has added to Fraser’s development we would not have nearly as effective a goalkeeper between the sticks.

It is never good to see anyone lose their job but surely the decision for Hearts to sack Gary Locke was one of the easiest to come out of Anne Budge’s 120 minute review (which was more productive than one 120 day review).  Hearts early and late season form, where they comfortably recorded victories against most of their peer group, told a tale of what happened for six months of the season, when the team failed to show up.

Locke had the resources to keep his team in the league this season but found every excuse available to ensure they finished bottom.

I’m less sure Danny Lennon deserved to be hooked.  The gap between St Mirren’s 8th placed finish with 39 points and Hibs on 35 points is narrow, but when he needed to dig deep, Lennon was not found wanting.  St Mirren might not be so fortunate with their next guy.

Tommy Gemmell

We are going to have the one and only Tommy Gemmell on the blog on Friday afternoon between 13:00 and 16:00.  He’ll be available to take your questions and talk about life, football and anything else you care to bring up.  Tune in.

Issue 20 of CQN Magazine, CQLisboN, is out and enjoying great reviews. Click here to read for FREE.

You have the floor, so please answer your own questions.

You appear to be suggesting that a post Yes vote Scotland will pay for all the retained “free” services by opting out of any Trident contribution, so if you have facts then just let me know where I can find them and I will go and have a look.

Please accept my apologies but I have other commitments and I do try to keep up with posts that ask for a respond. I have done already this afternoon.

The position of all pro independent parties is that Trident will be removed. That is the stated case but all parties agree that it will be necessary to keep Trident at it’s present location as I said earlier. This is the fact not an opinion.

No costs will be incurred by us, and the removal will be negotiated with Scotland being in a strong position.

I understand this info is also contained in the White Paper.

    Hope this helps

Nice wee comments about Leona and Stephen. Their strength and courage knows no bounds. God bless them.

In other news, been reading a few comments on the ole Indy situ. A wee thing keeps popping into my head, THE HS2. How much is this costing Scotland and it isn’t even coming here. You can bet yer bottom dollar that more NS Oil revenue will be going on that and that is why WM is crapping itself in case we vote the correct way. YES for me. :-))

  12. That Trident’s removal is a campaign promise from “all pro-independence” parties may be a fact.

That retaining Trident for a two year period is acknowledged by all parties may also be a fact.

I am not bothered one way or the other, whether they are facts or not, since those are not the statements that I questioned in your post.

I’m afraid that in your answers you do the very thing that provoked my question in the first place, eg when you state…

“No costs will be incurred by us, and the removal will be negotiated with Scotland being in a strong position.”

How exactly will Scotland be in a strong position? How will the removal be negotiated? Who will negotiate the removal? Who will verify the removal? Do the English/Welsh/Norn Ireland voters know that they (apparently) will foot the bill for this process? How has this arrangement been arrived at and who decided? How transparent was the process and who exactly is held accountable for it all?

I am not being petty or anything else when I pose these questions. I am following up on my own opinion that the debate on this important issue of independence is ill informed, emotionally charged and devoid of real answers to important questions.

I respect your choice obviously, but personally, I have grave reservations about the process – and not at all about whether I want an independent Scotland: that is a given.

An informed choice by an electorate is vital, and the usual rules of political ping pong really have to be put to one side to achieve this.

As for White Papers – they are not worth the paper they are printed on :o)

Thanks for the blether and I’ll let you get back to your work.

“I always remember a night when I took the big man to a Q&A session in the Louden on Duke Street years ago, at the height of his career at Ibrox. Someone in the audience asked Mark what he thought about Rangers’ chances to win the league and mentioned Celtic as competition.

“Big Mark stopped the guy mid-sentence and said: “There’s something you need to know. I don’t regard Celtic as competition to us. They are no competition to Rangers at all.”

“The place erupted and it was clear to everyone present that Hateley wasn’t just playing to the gallery or saying what fans wanted to hear. He was speaking as a bluenose, someone who had bought into Rangers heart and soul.”

I have another couple of suggestions

Tony Hamilton to talk about the Celtic Foundation it’s aims, connections, achievements and how it is continuing the work started by Brother Walfrid.

Now for one which may ruffle a few feathers

Willie Henderson. To talk about the old encounters, his rivalry with Big Tam and his close friendship with Jinky. I reckon he would open a few eyes and minds.

  25. Billybhoy,
