Graft and dedication behind Forster meteoric rise

991

Every Celtic fan will be delighted Fraser Forster was included in the England World Cup squad.  Fraser joined Celtic on loan four years ago, becoming a permanent member of staff in 2012.  His transformation over that period has been remarkable, which is no fluke.

He is the most dedicated footballer at the club.  First in each morning, around 2.5 hours before official start time, he’s also last out of Lennoxtown almost every day.  He is possibly the most complete 365-day-a-year athlete we’ve ever had.  This is a player who has set high personal achievement goals and has allowed no distractions to get in his way.

Enormous credit also has to go to the man who has guided him through his meteoric rise in recent seasons, goalkeeper coach Stevie Woods.  Without the focus, technical development and remedial work Stevie has added to Fraser’s development we would not have nearly as effective a goalkeeper between the sticks.

It is never good to see anyone lose their job but surely the decision for Hearts to sack Gary Locke was one of the easiest to come out of Anne Budge’s 120 minute review (which was more productive than one 120 day review).  Hearts early and late season form, where they comfortably recorded victories against most of their peer group, told a tale of what happened for six months of the season, when the team failed to show up.

Locke had the resources to keep his team in the league this season but found every excuse available to ensure they finished bottom.

I’m less sure Danny Lennon deserved to be hooked.  The gap between St Mirren’s 8th placed finish with 39 points and Hibs on 35 points is narrow, but when he needed to dig deep, Lennon was not found wanting.  St Mirren might not be so fortunate with their next guy.

  1. Good evening John O’neill. Hope you are well. Leaving aside your ill judged view of the EU in the Ukraine (I will resist teasing you about illegal referendums). Tell me who are the snobs who drove TD away? And billy bhoy I noted your use of the word intelligentsia earlier. Are you both on a campaign to promote stupidity? Is that what a new Scotland would look like?

What it means above all else is never again shall we have a Conservative Government inflicting all kinds of social damage on us

    ……………………

    Greendreamz,

More accurately it means that never again will you have a Conservative London/UK government inflicting all kinds of social change.

A Yes vote will mean a honeymoon period and much celebration, but when the numbers don’t add up (as I fear they won’t, since no-one has produced any) there will be a reaction. Invariably, as it does in any parliamentary democracy, this means that those who vote will be likely to elect a party that reflects that reactionary view. That could be Labour or Conservative or National Socialists, you have absolutely no way of knowing how this will all work out except, that any mess will be our own mess – just as any success will be our own.

People are voting blind based on years on resentment towards a London based government that was first and foremost seen as English and not Scottish. The difference will be that we will no longer have that comfort blanket, and that’s when the real fun will start. Those who push for as Yes vote from the electorate on the promise that the details will be sorted out afterwards have the front of a used car salesmen. Promises made to get your vote will be negotiable afterwards – usually not in your interest.

I can hear the sound bite already…

“The Scottish want independence, the referendum vote was clear – and we have a mandate to bring that about.”

Just an opinion – since any discussion on here is only an exchange of opinions.

According to Wiki he made 5 appearances during his 1 year stint from 1983 to 1984 and scored 0 goals

I know its mostly just tongue in cheek banter with the phone in punters but you do get the impression from time to time that Dalziel actually believes his own spin and his love affair with Man City is genuine

In reality I doubt there is a Man City supporter alive who remembers him and his only real claim to fame was winning that cup we like to forget about at Ibrox

Neganon, if you think snobs forced TD away you might want to consider his role in attracting criticism. If you post abusive comment about fellow tims you are likely to attract at least a few challenging responses. I suppose it boils down to being able to take what you are giving out.

  17. Housing boom at risk because moving is such a pain in the arse

    13-05-14

THE UK’s housing boom could collapse as people realise what a nightmare moving is, it has been claimed.

The property boom, which is pulling Britain out of recession, has seen thousands swear to never again dismantle furniture, pack crates or spend hours on hold to broadband providers.

Tom Logan of Oxford, who recently moved from a house to a slightly larger house, said: “When I see a homeless person, I think ‘lucky bastard.’

“He only has to live in a box. I’ve got a spare room full of them, and no matter how many I open I still can’t find the toaster.”

Helen Archer of Harrogate agreed: “I have moved into the former house of evil shits who have taken all the curtains and ripped out all the light fittings

“But even though I hate this place I am never moving again. This is the house I will die in.”

Economist Dr Mary Fisher said: “The housing boom has been jointly fuelled by the Help to Buy scheme and the collapse of smartphone sales, which has turned all the cocky twats back into estate agents.

“Putting all your things into boxes is a right pain in the arse though, and even if you pay someone else to do it they break all your best stuff.”

Meanwhile the nation’s landlords have vowed to keep the rental market active by arbitrarily kicking tenants out and keeping their deposits.

There was a full cost breakdown published recently and it showed – this by memory- that we will add £600m to what’s spent in Scotland at the moment. Total defence bill will be £2.5 billion yearly.

This additional £600m we already are paying but the spend is elsewhere in the UK.

Although Trident will remain in Scotland for a few years until the rest of Britain develop somewhere to put it we will not pay one penny to it’s cost.

    I hope this helps

  26. SNP To Reverse Highland Clearances

THOUSANDS of Canadians will be forced to move to Scotland under SNP plans to reverse the Highland Clearances.

Following an agreement with the government in Ottowa, Canadians of Scots origin will be forced at gunpoint onto a fleet of ships bound for the Old World.

It’s the latest policy reversal by the new SNP government, which has seen the building of a state-of-the-art accident and emergency department in every driveway and the overturning of Scotland’s 2-0 home defeat to England in the Euro 2000 play-offs.

Wendell Maclean, a dentist from Winnipeg, said: “I make $200,000 a year and own a golf-condo in Fort Lauderdale.

“I have to give all that up for a four-acre turnip field and a shed made of dung in some place called Ardnamurchan.”

He added: “I’ve never been to Scotland before and I don’t know anything about the place, other than the fact that they are world class bagpipers and are at war with the Dutch.”

A Scottish government spokesman said: “The Highland Clearances were the result of top-down decision making that did not have the support of local communities.

“This will give a tremendous boost to national turnip production and reinvigorate the Highland dung processing industry.”

The Canadian government signed the deal after Scotland promised to share its cutting-edge bagpiping technology.

Now — some interesting stuff on here re the Independence debate.

    However, a little legal conundrum.

In 1701 the ENGLISH Parliament passed the Act of Settlement which made it illegal in England for the reigning Monarch to be a Catholic or to be married to a Catholic.

This was partly to do with the Monarch being the constitutional Head of the Church of England.

That law became part of the Law of Scotland by way of the provision being adopted in the body of the Act of Union in 1707.

Of course, should Scotland vote for Independence, then the Act of Union will be repealed and superseded by new legislation.

The reigning Monarch is not the head of the Church of Scotland and holds no similar constitutional role within that body.

Accordingly, whilst recommending that The Queen may remain as head of state in Scotland, it is entirely possible to have the position whereby it may be lawful for the Monarch to be, or be married to, a Catholic in Scotland yet unlawful for that to be the case in England.

I suggest that no matter what happen here we live in interesting times — legally of course!
