  4. Maybe it’s not just Lenny who doesn’t rate coaching – this from a comment on the bbc

: Chelsea play like a group of good players who meet on a Sunday for a game. There doesn’t seem to be any sort of plan and they look un-coached. Also – spending all this money yet the best they can do up front is Abraham or Giroud? Should have got Cavani

Before modern materials and dyes had arrived too! Look at how some of the strips have faded with washing .

  6. When i was a wee boy, I liked Chelsea because the C, E and L in their name gave them, to my young mind, a Celtic kind of sound !

I know many Celtic supporters see them as London Huns but, as with all clubs, some supporters are an embarrassment. Chelsea`s Huns are small in number. The majority of their fans, in my experience of living down there, don`t care about Scottish Football and were , in the main, good guys. They supported Chelsea in a `good fun` sort of way and were nothing like the supporters of either of the Ibrox creations.

I’m pretty sure the first time the phrase ‘The Old Firm’ was used it was to promote a Charity match between the two clubs. Interesting to see that the game pictured, also a Charity game, was played up in Inverness.

  8. HS….Aye for real…I’ll get the final thing later.

As you can see, the lad at the top of the ladder is waiting on Tony D’s instructions and artistic analysis from his couch.

    Hail Hail

When I was younger always had a lot of time for Chelsea, though wasn’t happy to see Davie Hay go there, they had a bit of style about them, bit of steel too it has to be said, and kind of became part of that Kings Road scene back in the day. Had some good Scottish players too, and Alan Hudson, though later they had big Doug Rougvie. It was only in the late 1970s and the 1980s that they became a vehicle for the likes of the the National Front and the BNP, something similar happened at West Ham over in the East End, and there is no doubt that Stamford Bridge was a nasty place, or parts of it anyway, to go to. Took it to England games and all, though less of an influence now than it was a generation or two back, still a bit of it around.

I agree with what you are saying but I tend to feel we should judge by the behaviour of the majority and , in my experience, the majority of Chelsea fans were normal enough football supporters.

In fact, I think Rangers ` supporters are the only ones I know where the good guys are very much in the minority.

PS I used `Rangers` as I was referring to the Support. Those who support Sevco are still Rangers` supporters !

PPS Need a gargle now after all those references !

  11. Pretty quiet on here tonight so I think I will add to that pacific atmosphere by signing off .

I will, though, be thinking of our game against United who can and do defend as one unit. Goals will not be easliy come by.

    Cheerio for now.

    PS matt,

    Thanks.

  12. Just seen a photo of a chap from the village who had his grandson up at snake mountain today . Looks like the touchlines are narrowed a good bit

  13. Mr Smokie………….

I know a fair few Chelski fans from my time there, all thoroughly decent even one or two with a soft spot.

    for us………

Most of the Old Guard supported the team when it was just a wee club……..the God Save The Queen Brigade were to an extent hi-jacked by the BNP thug naughty nutters……I used to have a swally in boozer called the Wee Hoose near the Bridge where a few lahndan tims frequented.

I have fond memories of leaving a pre-season game we played them – the filth closed all the pubs en-route from the tube – the massed ranks of Tims exiting broke into song ( to the tune of Ring Of Fire)

” How We Gonna Get Bevvied Now?”…………….

:)))))))) Even the filth were laffin’

    Happy daze.
