    Anywye,….. Empty the park

Or, the PLC will weave you into the fabric of society.

It’s never too late……to ‘get’ it.

    Bye.

  2. its nice the irish bhoys coming on here to support us whats not nice is the amount of coaches I see from my window I overlook the M56 the main motorway between Holyhead and Manchester/ Liverpool with Liverpool or Manchester united flags ha

The EPL is the biggest show in town = flew back from belfast to lpool a few years ago and it was busy with red’s supporters.

  4. Sunday night teaser.

Why are Celtic so bad at set pieces? Corners, free kicks (cross or shot) are abysmal.

When did we last score from a corner or a free kick?

  5. Went to the Stoke game yesterday – they were very poor despite the £30m additions. Sadly James McLean had a poor game – really wanted him to shine – though he didn’t benefit from playing in front of a very poor LB.

Tried to ignore it but the telly was so poor tonight. I watched the running from Berlin tonight (how come Glasgow got all the shite stuff ?) and Berlin got the big sports ?

Was shocked to see some female souptaking. Step forward Eilissh McGolgan of Dundee. Came second and was running about with the butcher’s apron.

Maybe this has been covered but….I was actually pissed off with the songbook yesterday, big time. If ever there was a time for solidarity and support for the biggest contributor to our history since Stein (and I include MON), it was yesterday. All we got was Hun-like stuff, for the whole game. Burning Huns and Jambos..what the actual f?…IRA non stop. What a way to support Celtic. I drink in the Brazen, and the bus came back, all young guys 18 to 30 whatever, all exactly in the same nick I was.mid to late 70s. (minus the Charlie and Hash). However, I stood on the Pope’s corner with my old man, then graduated to the Jungle with mates, and we got behind the team with great Celtic songs. There seems to be absolutely no conscience to the damage they do, not to mention the msm loving every minute. Sadly, I’ve classed it as being uneducated, which I always throw up when discussing eg the Orange Walk and bigotry etc. It just annoys me that probably a good few in our end at Tynecastle are holding down good jobs and /or at University, but the gig / crack is more important.

It’s now the bet365 stadium = its a neat little park but wouldn’t hold a candle to PARKHEAD

TULLY scored twice, there must be another ;))).

serious question , Emilio, I is back , do you think we could coach KT to take the place of Broonie , I think he could be a terrific midfield general.

I think it might be easier to get a left back than to get the next Broonie , just a random thought.

    Auldheid @ 2:47 pm,

    Very good post.

”In effect it’s not so much a clash of personalities but a clash of professional cultures.

Totally agree… well apart from the personality bit;)

It seems to me that Peter and Brendan’s personality is so interwoven with their professional culture, that these perceptions are intrinsic and inherent.

The Boyata debacle is a case in point.

Let me first say, despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth, I have little sympathy for the player and absolutely none or his agent from what has arisen. From what we can gather Boyata was in a similar situation to Rogic yet rather than discuss and sort out his future with the Club, whatever that may b, before he went to the World Cup it looks like his agent blanked Celtic.

If the player now finds himself in a difficult situation and has refused to fulfill his contract it is he and his agent that have/are being unprofessional.

Having said that what happened to the supposedly grown ups in the room?

It now seems obvious that BR had requested the Board secure a quality Centre Half for the UCL qualifiers,. They singularly failed to do this. As we approached the third round qualifiers the Boyata situation was getting resolved… A transfer worth £10M+ to Fulham FC. Boyata gets his big money move to the EPL and Celtic FC PLC cash-in!! AGAIN!!

There is no doubt in my mind that someone at Celtic Park, following his raised profile during the WC, indicated to Boyata’s people that they would work with them to secure a transfer in this window.

The problem lies with the fact that the Head of Footballing Operations at Celtic doesn’t seem to have agreed; in fact he seems aggrieved by the fact that Boyata with his people and Celtic FC were so acquisitive and self absorbed that the implications for Celtic Football team were either secondary or immaterial to them.

Now one thing we can all agree with, is that Celtic are very, very careful when it comes to player spend. You may call this judicious or parsimonious. Now I believe this is embedded not only in Celtic’s business culture but also inherent in Board members .

The way I have described it in the past is risk averse and it seems given any justification this Board reverts to type.

I’m sure the two transfers in question this week are the tip of an iceberg but none the less they are archetypal. When the Board have an excuse to drag their heels when it comes to spending money and they are far from proactive… any excuse will do. When it comes to cashing in on a player all stops are out – they would drive them to the airport themselves.

From a business perspective you can see their point…

    i) McGinn, saves on a £2.5M outlay and X years salary

ii) Boyata save on X years salary and brings in £10M

Problem being, that whoever considered these financial benefits did not consider these (potential) assets to be worth “pushing the boat out” in regard to them as football players. Of course it transpires that our head of football strongly disagreed.

So much so in-fact, he was willing to make the Boyata situation a loose-loose for everyone…

The player’s reaction under the circumstances was totally predictable, yet still Brendan felt the need to put his foot down and assert his authourity, even if it cost the Club £10M.

Although it had been long suspected, it became apparent during the Delia tenure that our risk averse Board was costing the Club many millions of pounds by being too costive on their Risk/Benefit model.

This was proven beyond doubt when the purse strings were loosened and Brendan was brought in and we eliminated our salary cap and began to pay more money for players. The rewards on the Park were more than replicated by a surge in turnover and greatly improved financials.

Of course we can never get away from the fact that our resources are finite but we can never get away from the fact that our culture and some Board personalities are penurious to the point of self harm.

    Hail Hail

I wonder if anyone can help me? A mate of mine has told me he can get me one of the 800 tickets for Ibrox when we play the forces of darkness. Problem is I’m on a budget and I was just wondering – roughly what price should I expect to pay ? Don’t know if anyone on here would know but I thought it was worth asking.

We have a rich songbook which doesn’t need the add ons. Stoke supporters have 3 chants

WITS/VFR/TWISTS&TURNS – I ‘m going to York on Ebor day in two weeks time. I don’t really follow the Flat so any advice will be gratefully accepted.

  23. Avon Barksdale on

Thanks Gene/Delaney’s. That’s a pity – that price you quoted is way out my league. I could probably only afford about £49. Maybe if I stop going to games Celtic will panic and put pressure on the forces of darkness to drop the price.

Trainer Fahey and jockey Hanaghan have a great record at York this season.

You would be well in front to a level stake with those two.

Hopefully you will have a great time, one of my favourite places in England and, if you’ve never been, the racecourse is top notch too.

    Enjoy.

Its not even add-ons mate, it’s full blown hun like crap. It’s manna from heaven to the msm who just love the ‘one’s as bad as the other’ doctrine. For us to be associated in any way with the biggest cheats, worst fans and most poisonous history of any club in Western Europe, breaks my heart.

    ======================

Well lets hope the pain of self harming causes a degree of introspection and recalibration.

If I were DD Id offer to underwrite up to £xm of losses if the recalibration led to such, but a sensible approach should not produce any over a 3 year period..

That might allow a little breathing space for both PL and BR to do what each are best at.
