High expectations, the day the season pivoted

195

Luis Palma’s 87th minute goal should have been enough to secure the win at our visit to Fir Park in September.  Incredibly, Motherwell’s equaliser 8 minutes later was not enough for them to take a point.  A game which couldn’t produce a goal for so long, ended with a flurry.

Almost two months later, the winner that day, scored by Matt O’Riley, feels like it is going to be one of the most important goals of the season.  Not only did it secure another two points for Celtic, it punctured the pre-match mood 15 miles away at Ibrox.  There, the early crowd came alive at news of Motherwell’s 95th minute equaliser.  The O’Riley goal sapped energy out of the stadium.  Barry Robson’s side scored three and took the same number of points back home to Aberdeen.  If ever a season pivoted on a day…..

I like Stuart Kettlewell.  The Motherwell manager is a talent waiting for a bigger platform.  His achievements in Dingwall were under-appreciated, but they love him in Lanarkshire, for now, anyway.

We return to Celtic Park after the last of the autumn international breaks, desperate to see Celtic, desperate to push through a season with so much promise.  Being eight points ahead and going into a period with predominantly home games, expectations are high.

This nonsense has been going on since yesterday. Can it be rectified?

  3. A talented Ipswich side could not find a way of stopping the youthful Hoops who sealed their place in the final with a 3-1 win. A vastly experienced Southampton waited in the final and the south coast club were able to call upon veteran World Cup winner Alan Ball and twice European Player of the Year, Kevin Keegan.

I use brave as my browser and don’t have a problem.

Used my tablet which uses a standard browser to see what you guys are encountering !!

Quite simply without a adblocker this site is unusable 🙄

  6. Please bear in mind that the comments section on CQN relies on Paul67’s generosity with his time and revenue from advertising.

Adblockers mean less revenue for CQN, “sorting out the ads” would take up more of his time.

I know we’re not all tech savvy but the answers to your problems are all out there on Google.

The posts are inane from front to back or back to front .

I should know , I write some of them 🤪

  10. I use Duck Duck Go on my iPhone and never see ads on CQN.

Jimmy, if you’re using an iPhone, go to the App Store and download the Duck Duck Go app from there.

If it’s a laptop/PC, just google Duck Duck Go Browser and it should show up for you to download and install. You’d then have to select it as your ‘Default Browser’ in settings.

  11. lets all do the huddle on

what i do is have a browser on my phone that i only use for sites that i want javascript disabled for like cqn and then a different browser for all other sites.

saves me having to disable/enable javascript all the time because for most sites i guess you would want it enabled.

in saying that i also recently started using DuckDuck and that seems to be fine.

only problem i find with having javascript off is that you need to log in a lot to see all the posts which can be a pain

its fair to say the usability of this site is pretty rank and it has never been through any formal UAT 😆

    Taurangabhoy….

I came over in September (from Canada).

I checked the Celtic website (tickets page). I realized that, for ‘ordinary’ games, Celtic put a small number of tickets up for sale a few weeks before the match. I can’t remember how many days, but if you start checking it daily, you’ll figure it out.

They have 2 types of tickets available:

    1. Hospitality (A bit pricey, but I took them for the 1st of the 2 games)

    2. Regular seats (These came available a few days after the Hospitality ones).

Bought them, and arranged to pick them up at the Ticket Office.

HINT: If you don’t have one, set up an account with the Ticket Office in advance. That will speed up the process when the tickets go ‘live’. ALSO…they go fast. Maybe within an hour. And that was for home games against St Johnstone and Dundee….

I hope they get their tickets.

    All the best,

    Weeron

Thanks for sharing re the Daily Express Football Five a sides

Another great trophy. Only Scottish team to win it. I used to love that competition. It clashed with UEFA Cup 3rd round which we were never in as we were mostly in the big cup.

It was the centre piece on BBC Sportsnight with Coleman.
