HOOPY BIRTHDAY, BRENDAN: 51 TODAY

BRENDAN RODGERS celebrates his 51st birthday today.

And it was business as usual for the Celtic manager as he prepared his players for the Premiership meeting with Ross County at Parkhead tomorrow afternoon.

It’s the third meeting of the season between the teams with the champions already winning the previous two – 4-2 in the league kick-off on August 5 last year and then they followed up with a 3-0 success in Dingwall in November.

Rodgers will wait until after the final whistle tomorrow before toasting his special day – with a victory and three more precious points a welcome addition to proceedings.

CROWNING GLORY…Brendan Rodgers with his first Premiership title in 2017. Now he is aiming for No.3.

It’s been a testing seven months for the second time-around boss who won seven successive honours in his first stint after replacing Ronny Deila in the Hoops hot seat in May 2016.

Back-to-back trebles followed before Rodgers claimed the League Cup for the third successive season when a Ryan Christie goal downed Aberdeen in a dramatic showpiece encounter in December 2018.

The Irishman quit for Leicester City two months later, but, after a reversal in the League Cup against Kilmarnock in August, he is hoping to get back on the silverware track with a league and Cup double.

CQN readers and Celtic fans worldwide will join in wishing Rodgers a happy 51st birthday – and we hope we are all celebrating after the Scottish Cup Final on the iconic date of May 25 when the curtain comes down on season 2023/24.
