Ibrahim chance to reboot potential at Celtic

493

Celtic have completed the signing of 20-year-old Nigerian, Rabiu Ibrahim subject to a medical, after he was released by PSV Eindhoven earlier this month.   Rabiu is known as a creative-central midfielder, a role that Celtic have played possibly as few as a dozen times in the last decade.

After leaving Nigeria full of promise as a 17-year-old the player failed to make the desired impact in Portugal and the Netherlands, but will still be regarded as a development project by the Celtic technical staff.  His short history in Europe, with tales of agents and representation investors already has enough material for a short novel, which will not have aided development.

The job for Celtic is to get Rabiu plugged back into his potential.  It remains to be seen what role he is deployed in when he gets the chance.

Welcome to Celtic, Rabiu.

    agreed

one of those ‘discussions’ which would have ended in agreement within a minute over a pint.

the joys and frustrations of the internet!

  2. Please use the link creator instead of posting long links and be aware of the pagination issue.

Oh no not the ole pagination debate.

Can you maybe highlight or increase presence eg font size of Link Creator. Not everyone spots it mate? What about central under the pages boxes.

    Link creator is easy bhoys.

See left hand column below search box.

  3. Bhoys I am unwavering in my faith in RTC’s integrity – he writes far too well to not be a tim:)) – but thought the post raised an interesting point.

davythelotion :) what phone box? I could maybe try and squeeze into one of those charity clothes collection bins though…

  4. At first I couldnt quite believe it when I heard ANOTHER captain hed left a sinking ship, but its true,

Big gentle giant Davie Weir HAS left Rangers!

It must be so draining for the Madrid players, yet another defeat to their great rivals. No wonder they start kicking Barca off the park!

Either that, or their coach is a cynical ratbag….

    neveralone,

Didn’t King also ‘break’ (old media)the FTT story ages before any other journalist mentioned it?

Maybe he’s smart enough to recognise an unstoppable force when it looms into view.

What is nagging away at me is that this is a ‘test’ case…expectations will understandably be skewed on all sides by partiality, precendents obviously don’t yet exist.

Anyway back to the fun, guy on RTC just posted that FF are asking if Cui Bono is Celtic’s latest signing target…:)

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This is not a test case. If it were Minty wouldn’t have sold Dignity for £1! This case could be best be described as a stonewaller, cast iron, open & shut, no shit Sherlock, the butler DID do it!

Given that, if the MBB walks away owing nothing to HMRC, he’d be like the people in the room in hell who spend their time bobbing up to their chins in shit, someone say ‘…could be worse, we could be upside down..’ someone says ‘..here comes the devil in his speedboat!’

Bangura might, or might not be a dud

He might, or might not have been Lenny’s signin

Other signings might, or might not, have been Lenny’s signings

In percentage terms tho, the signings on Lenny’s watch – whoever made them – have been impressive. There are always going to be gambles that don’t pay off. I believe most of them have.

This is a young team – learning… and winning whilst they do it.

I have one, repeated, concern; and that is the lack of tactical knowledge/experience in Lenny’s management team. I still believe he needs a technical expert to support him. In the meantime, he is winning by signing good players, hopefully the tactical issue will be resolved in time.

  8. The case for stripping the titles….

Did Rangers FC gain an unfair advantage by failing to pay £24m in taxes? YES

Did Rangers FC win trophies as a direct result of that unfair advantage? In 2003 and 2005, the two last day, last 5 minutes titles – YES.

Have Rangers FC subsequently paid the tax due? NO.

If Rangers FC still exists, they should only be allowed to keep those two titles if they pay their taxes retrospectively in full.

If Rangers FC no longer exists, it means that Rangers FC won those two titles without paying the taxes due, and can therefore never pay the taxes due as they no longer exist. It equates to having “stolen” those two titles via financial doping. The stolen goods must, therefore, be returned.

Any New Govan FC is an irrelevance in the context of those titles.

The question that has to be asked is “Is it acceptable to win titles having broken the law of the land to do so?” Failing to strip those titles from a club that chooses to fold rather than pay their dues would indicate that the SPL and SFA believe the answer to that question is YES.

  9. Guardiola has given debuts to 25 players from the Barca B team in the last 3 years.

Now if a team expected to win every game and are the favorites for the CL every year can do it…

On that note, Good Night all.

I’ve posted this wee story before but it illustrates what the internet is enabling – The Truth.

Two men live side by side in semis and share a back garden. A fence divides the gardens. It is dark green on one side and light green on the other. Mr Dark Green thinks the fence is all dark green. Mr Light Green thinks it is all light green. It is only when they talk and Mr Dark Green invites Mr Light Green in to his garden that they discover the truth that the fence is dark green on one side and light green on the other. As a result of sharing they are more enlightened than when they ignored each other.

What is happening on the RTC blog and then being carried from there through cyberspace is the shape of things to come.

One day mankind will find the truth about itself as the misperceptions that bind and blind us are removed.

In a world where the truth is out, judgement becomes nigh impossible, indeed redundant, why guess/assume when you will know?

And as one famous guy who knew all once said – know the truth and it will set you free!

In the latest available accounts for Southampton FC (June 2010), their weekly wage bill for 153 footballers (yes, that’s 153) and 60 admin staff was £204,000.

The DR would have us believe without putting forward any evidence to back it up that Southampton would make available 18% of that cost (£36,000 per week) for just one player whose previous experience in England was with the giants of Scunthorpe?

Liar, liar, pants on fire, Keevins.

PS I see on the FF board that one poster is reporting a lot of references on here to Cui Bono and wants to know if that’s CFC latest signing target

    —————————————————————————————————-

Add that to tonights allowance of a caller to state unchallenged that Scott Browns weekly wage is £28k. I agree with James Forrest. Hugh Keevins you are a liar.

  17. Barcelona are a total joy to watch but i have my own theory how to beat them.

I want to see a manger play a 8-0-2 system against them.

you could play a Craig Levein 6 man midfield but barca would still dominate in the middle of the park.

so 8 defenders deep and 2 forwards hard up front and keep hoofing it up the park.

Don’t quite understand why everyone is getting so concerned about our signing policy.

In the second half of the season, our midfield and defence will be so dominant, service to our strikers so abundant, that we could field Wayne Biggins in carpet-slippers ,as our target-man,and enough balls would bounce in off him to win us the league…..by a country mile !

    He’s now a svelte 52y,and 1.822m BTW,dating Beyonce on the side..

  27. Looking forward to seeing Rabiu play – “an intelligent footballer”. Goody.

According to reports, he’s a no.10, making him a useful signing already. Maloney was the last (potential) one we had. Paddy (decent), Commons & Forrest (mediocre) and Ki (very poor) have all been played behind the striker(s) this season, but none of them (with the possible exception of McCourt) looked all that comfortable there.

Not sure how many games he’ll get, given that the vast majority of matches will be 4-4-2 Hooper/Stokes bish bash bosh job done kinda thing. Will Rabiu be the man to prise open the hun defence?
