ICC absurd fantasies

“Old Firm game for Wembley”. Heaven help us. I don’t doubt International Champions Cup owner, Charlie Stillitano, has a sharp eye for what he could turn into a commercial success, but there can be fewer worse ideas in the history of sporting endeavour.

So many things could go wrong with such a fixture, some would go wrong, and the contagion would spread to Celtic. There’s no mention in any coverage of this item that Celtic have been consulted at any level, so I’m assuming they were as surprised as the rest of us at the moment (they were at a similar suggestion of a game in Australia a few years ago).

Stillitano cites hosting Manchester City-Manchester United in Beijing later this year as being something of an approximation. It’s not. I suggest he looks to somewhere deep in the Monglian hinterland for a venue for a Glasgow derby of this nature. Even then I would decline.

  1. A bit of magic from Torres, glad to see the boy has got his confidence back.

No confidence = a head down player, like I have witnessed by Celtic…a shy in is the give away…grab a marker or turn your back and make a false run.

Hopefully whoever we get as a manager will eliminate this.

SIPSINI-you have just made the moon howlers shift so much more entertaining to read in the morning,I thought ACGR was older actually….:))

Good evening Mr Gemmell, I hope you don’t mind me addressing you in such informal terms, I have never conversed with a European Cup winner before and I’m not sure of the protocol.

FT 1-0,Bayern have got a job in their hand’s to

    get to the final.

  8. Ref had a good game. Bayern on the back foot now.

‘Hi, is that Mr Warburton? It’s Pep…’

They have wasted how the game was/shpuld be played & for me it cant be justified unless it was introduced when the italian teams were dominating & …..cough…..there it av been dodgy things….hapenin

    Any IMHO wastes the game.

    Goodnight Timland.

Great too have a Lisbon lion on cqn, please

visit us again Mr Gemmell Sir.

  11. Another remarkable effort from Atletico Madrid, not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s fair enough, but you have to admire their grit and determination and good play.

Thought Bayern caused them more problems than Barcelona but they still came away with a terrific win.

The refs could and should be doing something about it. All that manhandling is another example of something that would be a foul outside the box every time but refs don’t want to give penalties.

  13. I will always hate the Atletico team of 74 for cheating us out of a 3rd Big Cup final.

But today’s Atletico team are not that team.

We all want great attacking football but defending is an Art too and Atletico do it with a reliance on athleticism and support much more than just cynicism, clugging and cheating the rules.

They set a standard for the great attacking teams to improve to in order to defeat them. Just as the cattenaccio teams of Italy in the early to mid 60s were overturned by a great attacking team.

And we have one of that great team on here tonight. We are honoured.

  14. Itscalledthemalvinas: lots of pubs along the Costa will show the match. I usually go to ‘Timmy’s’ in Torreblanca, about 200 yards from the train station of the same name. Easily accessible from Malaga.

  17. SFTB,

    We have no chance now.

    The Juventus game showed that.

The game is Brutally corrupt and it is all about forking out Money.

I fell out of Love with fitba @ that Juve game.

Closed shop but just not made official.

    Man is utterly Corrupt.

  18. Delanys Dunky: From last night. Unfortunately I won’t be over on the 8th. If I’d have betted on WITS’ tips today I could have booked into a five star hotel but flights are just too expensive.

I will be over for helicopter Sunday the following week, however.

  19. Itscalledthemalvinas: I won’t be there but just tell Kevin that Alan from Carvajal/Dublin recommended the pub.

Auldheid and Sparkleghirl (remember her?) will recommend alternatives.

  21. Know they’re dealing with a different matter tomorrow, but I hope their learned friends take a change of underwear incase any more talk arises of life after death, clubs floating around in the ether, or similar comedy nuggets from the Continuity Mythmakers.

    YNRA.

  22. So let’s check the state of cqn and Celtic tonight.

Paul, in a rather embarrassing squirrel attempt, posts about a fluffy nonsense msm article (and in doing so seems to legitimise the term old firm) and then tells us it’s nonsense.

Err thanks Paul. But your avoidance of the real issues is now beyond embarrassing. That cqn will not discuss or tackle either this or res12 says an awful lot about cqn does it not?

The board? Well they are still in hiding and it’s becoming obvious to all that they would rather cosy up to the sfa and Hun than us as Celtic supporters.

If you are still thinking of buying a season ticket why? Are you happy with this?

  23. The great Pep picked the wrong team there!

LB, Thiago and the RW were all far too soft for that game and venue!

Bayern Quick News will be all over him!
