Inadequate Two-Bob Hardmen

248

I’ve watched the after-match video from last night’s Rangers Women-Celtic Women game several times, showing Celtic Women’s manager, Fran Alonso being attacked from behind by an opposition coach.

What happened is consistent with the Two-Bob Hardmen who pace the lines at kids, non-league and now apparently, women’s games.  The most common target is the referee, who is very much on his own, but commonly involves opposition coaches, players and even their own team’s players.

There is an ocean of inadequacy masquerading as aggression in the grassroots game, last night’s incident was an example.  We have yet to hear from the police and football authorities, who I expect to act in due course, to look away would be a betrayal of those who work at games away from the TV cameras.  You can be assured that Michael Nicholson would dismiss such an offender from Celtic without the inappropriate delay across the city.

  1. I used to think of the Tartan Army as a good, fun-loving and even entertaining support. I now see them as a slightly diluted Scottish version of the National Front.

I will happily be educated on this matter as I don`t go to Internationals.

  2. 4 more sleeps until dingwall.

10 more sleeps until we see the real rangers come to visit ! According to Tav pen anyway.

i was sitting thinking the other day about that.

I don’t think the full fat Celtic were seen at New Year and to an extent, the Cup Final.

When we did hit our straps in August, it was 4-0 and could have been more.

Real vs Real , we win easy.

  4. A quick read through the comments from certain contributors on this particular article is ample explanation as to why this site is dying on it’s arse…the amount of tinfoil required for your protective headgear alone must be killing the planet!

Hairlikespaghetti…go on, name those certain contributors. I might agree with you. :-)

  6. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Always feel glad on a Wednesday night / Thursday morning of an international fixtures window.

Now out of the way and anticipation of seeing Celtic again can ramp up.

PS – I really like Swiss Ramble’s work but, if one is a football romantic to any degree, his analysis can be sobering.

His latest on Brighton for example.

    Behind the veneer of

    – “smaller” club

    – being “patient”

    – establishing “foundations”

    – not taking “short term view”

Is yet another club in hock to its owner.

What are you basing that view on HS? Songs, behaviour outside ground etc?

    It’s quite a statement !

PS I go irregularly to games (last one was Israel 3-2 game) but a lot of my mates go regularly

PPS The reasons I don’t go regularly are , 1. I spend enough on Celtic games, 2. They cancelled my Supporters Club membership in 2009 due to late payment (letter arrived in Ireland after the cut off) and I’m still in a big cream puff about it

AN TEARMANN on 29TH MARCH 2023 4:59 AM,

That inane drivel perfectly demonstrates an inability to understand plain English “why don’t you go home’ was a problem for me”, makes me an apologist for the famine song?

The failure to reconcile the concept “that a united Ireland and united Scotland, England and Wales are not mutually exclusive” does not require people to conform with your tunnel vision of what “united” or “union” must be interpreted as, or who owns the word “unionist”. We can say Irish unity, United Ireland but not Irish unionist and in every diatribe to date you failed to provide a reasonable argument on why not?

When I first posed the question on here a few years ago, of why we do not take ownership of the phrase Irish unionist? I fully understood the historical implications of mentioning unionism in relation to Ireland, when Ireland became a dominion state in 1922 then a sovereign nation in 1937 “Irish Unionist” organisations faded then died becoming extinct and transformed into Ulster unionism.

As yet, beyond the historical entrenchment and pedantic intransigence I have still not seen a reasonable argument as to why it is not more widely adopted, on the contrary it appears to stir up only bigotry from the likes of you in the face of its literal meaning. In my opinion, it mocks and confuse the Ulster Unionists no end. And on that basis alone I’ve chosen to use it, with or without your consent.

I expect you demand it be enshrined because you are too lazy to think of another way to keep divisions simple and hatred easily directed.

I have already told you I reject your attempts at controlling the literal meaning and narrative on the discussion and dismiss any critique from you based on your straw man arguments, its your failure not mine. You have only confirmed your bigotry and failure to grasp that a single literal concept (union, unity) can applied across to both sides of the divide.

  9. Still obfuscating

Still making it up as you go along.

And i didnt pay attention to your various attempts to define being irish unionist

You are a way off and inventing your own debate

Expect and assume away in your invented essay

Your a labour British Unionist.first and last.

Inane drivel- na mate 4 bonafide instances of you Labour unionists throwing ordinary working class to the dogs…and they did.

    1.merlyn rees1976 men on blanket

    2.denis healey 1976- monetarism introduced-hell awaits

    3 2003 – international socialism via trident

4.2008- capitalism defeats socialism when bank debt is nationalized

Not a conservative and unionist action

It was labour and unionist action

Seers like acid through you.No answer

At least this time you are not cutting and pasting statements to the protestant forces in answer as to why Merlyn Rees put men on the blanket!! That was comical.

You stick to your lavvy youtube millionaire Galloway for your contraryism, cantankerousneess and what to think. He personifies Thatchers quest for the individual to be above the collective,Individual over all.it rips thro him

Lets see what the vote brings next time as shown historically your Union does not like when democracy votes and comprimises it..
