Inevitable cull will see Mikey flourish elsewhere

119

You and I have talked about Mikey Johnston for over five years.  As a teenager, he was pivotal in a win at Ibrox early in our most recent nine-in-a-row season and seemed set for the top.  Just two days before that game we signed Mohamed Elyounoussi on loan, and the Norwegian international edged ahead of Mikey in the pecking order.

With his contract set to expire in the summer, he looks to be on the way out of Celtic.  The squad is too big and the largest part of it is wingers, so an inevitable cull is on the way.  Mikey will go, but as his Man of the Match performance for Ireland against New Zealand last night attests, someone will pick up a talent.

Hunscore may not be too far off the mark…. Unlike THE EXILE TIM, this is not a hun free valley.

  2. Will Celtic be able to claim back 25% of the investment being made in Barrowfield following today’s Autumn statement? If so it will be worth about 2.5million.

  3. I am just back from the AGM.

Thought it was as good as it gets. I think the loudest round of applause went to Dermot’s son for his reply about selling out to the likes of the Saudis or Qataris.

Those who seem to think Mark Lawwell got his job because of nepotism were also corrected. Seems he got it because he was Ange’s choice (they had worked together for 4 years with the City Group). Brendan seemed to be more than happy with him.

Interesting question, I guess accountants will be all over the small print.

What will be devolved must also be equated.

There is one item that will impact on some Celtic supporters immediately. The most expensive ingredient in the humble spliff will be the tobacco.

We wanted to invest in January, we tried but it’s such a difficult window, everybody knows we’ve got £70M in the bank and we just couldn’t get some over the line.

  6. The South Stand ,Why can’t they move the press box and add another tier ,don’t think that would cost a fortune ,and the whole stadium needs freshen up ,paint etc .

Any chance of sharing with the rest of us what the reply was?

    Thanks.

Full expensing capital allowances only apply to capital spending on IT, plant and machinery so it won’t apply to the work on Barrowfield unfortunately.

That is a wee bit of a surprise given all we hear of on the blog from many is that the current custodians do not have the ambition the fans have etc.

I also don’t think his answer would be true for a minute if it were not for the glass ceiling we currently bang up against in our wee pond here.

  10. Van Veen and Shankland ..2 good back up strikers at reasonable wages and combined fee of less than 5million …no brainier for me for 2 reasons 1.proven scoring record in Scotland and 2…A big GIRUY to them

I always assumed that Desmond wanted to get us into the EPL to raise the value of the club to then sell… just my assumption rather than any info

That sounds like something really really good that you are doing. Do you have a website or anything for donations or take visitors etc to raise funds to help ?

  17. Just around this time sixty years ago John F Kennedy was assasinated in Dallas, Texas. Friday evening Scotland.

Rained non-stop during our game the very next day a 5-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Celtic Park. Minutes silence observed with both teams wearing black armbands. Our very own Jim Kennedy in our team alongside Billy McNeil. Don’t know offhand if Jim was of the Irish Kennedy clan or the Scottish one, was from Johnstone, but am guessing either way he would have been deeply affected. Might be wrong but think the Celtic support did in fact refer to him as the President.

    RIP JFK

We are a registered charity (Farmersfield Rest-home for Eldery Donkeys [FRED] and also have a CIC (Community Interest Company) [AnimalsSupportingPeopleatFRED]where we offer animal assisted therapy- mostly, but not exclusively to young adults with autism/ disabilities and/or mental health issues. Hence, the genuine offer to the MOD to hug a donkey.

We’re pretty active on Facebook and our son-in-law attends to the website. I’m reliably informed if you Google “FRED Dumfries “ you’ll find us there…. the family keep me well away from the technology!

Also meant to add that we welcome visitors to share our passion for donkeys – and other animals. …… whether they need therapy or not!!!!
