Injustice for the cheats, win two tickets for Sunday

379

By any measure, last night was tough on Juventus.  A heroic performance at the Bernabeu to take a 0-3 lead, only to be denied by a soft penalty at the death.  Juventus are the pin-up boys for cheating in football, Oldco Rangers failure to register second contracts pales into insignificance to what the team from Turin were doing over the same period.

As I watched the pains of injustice on the faces of Buffon and his teammates I wondered how they feel about the titles some of them still claim to have “won on the field.”  Or, whether their perpetual fouling and gamesmanship against Celtic in 2013 even merits a memory.

I didn’t care either way who won last night but Juventus going out feeling cheated seems about right.

I understand your predicament as I was in that very same place a couple of years ago before I made my own personal decision. I now live in the West Midlands so maybe it’s a bit easier for me than others to do this though I do admit it feels a bit odd watching fellow supporters heading in a different direction to me on those home match days that coincide with my family trips to Glasgow. But that’s about it – a bit odd.

I also feel it’s easier now that there is much less of a connection between the club, players and the supporters than there was back in the day when I travelled everywhere on the St. Bartholomew’s CSC bus on which Bobby Murdoch’s da was a regular. Maybe, I’ve just grown out of it and it was time to find some other passion to occupy my time. Either way, I’m oot.

  2. Simply put, we cannot give “them” any sort of break on Sunday, we MUST keep our foot on their throat for 90 mins. Can you imagine the crap our meeja would be spouting if they won? I can and it must not be allowed to happen, and the oxygen that win would give them. No way,Jose, as they say.

Never give a mug an even break

I don’t have the predicament-but I wish I did! Been in Swindon since 2001. My Dad and my sisters are all ST holders,my Dad will never give his up any circumstances.

My two sisters have their moments, but really no chance of them chucking it either. Sad to say, delighted to say,if I still lived back home, had a ticket,I’d renew every year.

    Like I said,I agree with everything you say,but I just couldn’t do it,Gunga Din.

Next time there’s a local Association meeting in Birmingham,I’ll try to get to it,if you’re up for a few jars.

  4. I’ve renewed my 2 season tickets and have 2 tickets for Hamdump on Sunday; I will take 2 tickets for the final.

I have been going to watch Celtic for over 50 years. For over 40 years of those 50+ years I have been aware of corruption within Scottish football and elsewhere in the worldwide game. It has never diminished my love for Celtic or my passion for going along to watch them.

The only difference now is that verifiable proof is abundant both in Scotland and worldwide. I never needed that: I knew it was going on. That’s my choice – to support my team who have faced corruption and been cheated for over 130 years. Perversely it makes our success far sweeter in many ways.

IMHO anyone who refuses to put money into the game in Scotland would be (morally?) obligated to refuse to watch any football competition sanctioned by the SFA, the English, Italian & Spanish FAs, UEFA, FIFA ;or games sponsored by Sky, BT Sports or even any of our national broadcasters. Neither should they buy a newspaper reporting football or use the printed media websites. That is (again IMHO) the only “clean” way to show your true feelings: a type of vegan approach to rejecting football. All or nothing.

Me? I just want to celebrate Celtic. As Fat Boy Slim says:

I read it earlier, mate. Got it mailed to me. My heart could bleed for the poor misunderstood President Putin.

  10. Now is a great time to be a Celtic supporter.

We have a dominant team, an excellent manager and some very entertaining and successful footballers. We are well run and financially secure.

Our board know this and will pay scant notice to idle threats of boycott as the waiting list to witness the dominance remains healthy.

Being old enough to have witnessed the original nine in a row and to have suffered decades on rangers cheating, I am anxious to have the Ibrox clubs exposed for what they are and what the have done.

I write to Celtic annually, expressing my concerns about the blatant cheating, and implore my board to take action to attempt to right the many wrongs.

I am pragmatic enough to realise that this process of change will be tumultuous and difficult for the club and its supporters but ultimately it will be worthwhile at some point. Maybe a long while away.

The work of people like Auldheid and The Battered Bunnet is exemplary and the evidence unearthed conclusive.

Our problem is the age old “You can take a horse to water” conundrum where the SFA and the SMSM conspire to ignore all attempts to have this evidence examined. Celtic can only do so much, working within SFA membership restrictions. A Farry or a Dallas like smoking gun is required. Remember it was not Dougie Dougie that got Dallas but the Pope email.

In the meantime I’ll support my club. I will renew my season ticket but withdraw from the Home ticket scheme. I have told the club that I have no wish to support an SFA run cup tournament. I do not attend matches at Hampden for this reason. I have already given away my ticket for Sunday.

However I will attend the historic double treble final on May 19th.

Why? Because after 50+ years supporting Celtic I feel that I want to be there to witness my club making history.

Celtic know this. Celtic know that even if I did sacrifice my attendance on May 19, they can count in thousands those who would gladly replace me.

I attended the last Rangers game when we won 3-0 before they were liquidated in 2012.

I will attend my first Sevco game in a fortnight as Celtic celebrates a seventh successive championship.

I choose to enjoy and support Celtic.

I choose to not have anything to do with the SFA and the Ibrox clubs if at all possible.

I am comfortable in my choices.

I tend to agree with you. It’s all or nothing.

We were all aware of the anti Celtic bias in Scottish Football. Even if you weren’t around personally, a quick read of our history written from a Celtic perspective will suffice.

I hope this doesn’t sound too much like the board sound-bite, however we continue supporting Celtic due to :- pride, loyalty, anticipation, enjoyment, charity, belonging, community, attachment and many many personal memories and reasoning.

Take away the football aspect, if we had all walked away, there would have been no CQN and many friendships would never have materialised.

Far too many reasons to ” give up” .

  12. I think that the CO will definitely report back during the close season.

However, I feel we will probably not like the nature of his findings. It’s all about how Celtic act from then on. To leave the matter until a November AGM would not be acceptable.

I’m beginning to think I may be asking BeatBhoy for a Rubicon Ferries ticket at some point this year…

    Congratulations on a fine post.

If I was still living in Glasgow, I would feel and act as you have.

You summed up the dilemma the club have.

They know what has gone on, but they are bound by the selectively applied SFA rules.

The smoking gun is the only way justice will be done, but will it be acknowledged?

  14. Ah mean, ye couldn’t make this up……

Celtic supporters moaning aboot the CO and ither plants not doing they’re jobs, and yet, these same Celtic supporters, were / are falling over each other to pay £49 for Old Firm same club lie tickets!

Its not a case of the horse has bolted, because it didn’t bolt, it was chased, by yooz, 7,500 Celtic supporters, or, if you prefer, 7,500 Fergus McCann stooges chased the horse doon the road.

Yeez have shown the establishment how easy yeez can be suckered.

When I say establishment, I include the Celtic PLC board, who are voted in by yooz, year in, year out.

Its not faithful through and through, its death by 53,000 cuts.

Every show down……yeez melt, and fall into line.

    Some examples…..

    Shame-Game……managerial stitch up!

Same cheated manager flung under a bus!

    Fans kettled…PLC silence!

Nevin & McLean trash fans….PLC silence!

    LNS Whitewash….PLC silence!

Rory Bremner cheap gag…fans fooled again!

Celtic players security breached at ibrokes…..PLC silence!

Celtic fans trashed by Budge….PLC silence!

Celtic players attacked almost on a weekly basis….mibbery muzzled puppet managers toothless sheep response!

SFA ersing about re: JR…..PLC pathetic response!

And yet, despite all of the above and more, the Celtic support are placated by the skelping of a conveyor belt of Scottish pub teams, driven by a manager who canny get a job in England, and, imho, if, Brendan swapped jobs with Stevie Clarke at the end of the season, SC would win the Europa League for Celtic next season, and Kilmarnock under Brendan, wouldn’t make the top six.

The problems above aren’t down to anti Celtic bigotry, yes that is there, but, the real problem is, nobody fears the Celtic support anymore. I don’t mean fear in a violent way, I mean, nobody fears the Celtic support out of respect anymore. That is because, the Celtic support don’t respect themselves anymore, there are no more boundaries left to be breached. That is a cycle that has to be broken. It will only be broken by brave Celtic supporters. Sadly, all of the participating constituents can see, written in neon size letters that the Celtic supporters are no longer, the rebels from the Parkheid Jungle. These days, the Celtic support are no more intimidating than the audience at the local cinema.
