Celtic score three well constructed goals from incisive attacking moves.
Inter scored three goals, two from uncustomary goalkeeping misjudgements and one from a freak ricochet landing right at the feet of a striker inside the box.
Second leg:
Inter score a corker through a player who should have been sent off for earlier elbowing an opponent in the face.
.
So, over the whole tie there were four good goals (3-1 to Celtic) and three goals served up with a huge dollop of good fortune (all to Inter).
The only tangible difference between a £60M+ Inter team and our bob-a-job Bhoys was luck.
And dubious refereeing.
Ronny’s team is going places.

Sorry if already posted from BBC “Valiant Celtic lose at Fiorentina”.
Haven’t looked back at any posts, but if ever there was a case of a referee being told, at all costs the Italian team goes through, then I witnesse it tonight, VVD 3 fouls ns off, you must be fakin kidding me, he was a Homeric ever I saw one, to a man the team played well, no finger pointing to any player on the park outstanding performance, 11 men we would have pumped them.
There is something no quite right with him, even Lenny couldn’t put his finger on it, he said that it wasn’t injuries with james, ” It always had a condition ” that came from Lenny’s mouth, and can be confirmed by one of our esteemed posters from Donegal.
Whatever, delighted that my faith in Ronny is coming to fruition, as I said many, many times when all n sundrie were wanting rid of RD, transition takes time.
JF hasn’t had the game time yet to meet the massive increase in pace IMO.
Sadly it will always make him a scapegoat for tonight, though, and some folk are better placed to form that opinion. But I don’t think RD would have put him on if he was lazy, and it does seem a bit mental to me to think that a player would come into a game in such circumstances and think, ” I’ll just hang around here until they gift me the chance to score”. :)
For me, every player was a hero, even if some think they should have done better. Tonight was Celtic through and through.
Now, just a fair competition, and a REAL referee.
That would be heavenly.

The worst foul in the game was the elbow in the face by the twat that scored , red card every day of the week . There arses would have collapsed had it happened .
Apart from the inexplicable removal of GMS, rather than JG, after the non-red-card, and the introduction of James Forrest, I can’t see that our Management Team did much wrong tonight.
However, as for the Officials……………………..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great pride in tonight’s narrow defeat.we’ve come a long way since Murrayfield.
Despite the disappointment, much of it down to an obviously inexperienced referee, it’s a huge learning experience for our young Celtic side in Europe. All heads held high.
Also great credit to the manager and his philosophies and I’m sure that the manager will have learned a lot about his players tonight also – good and no so good,
The fans vocal support for the team from beginning to end added to the heroic atmosphere of the evening. Let’s hope for a big crowd on Sunday to show our appreciation for out valiant team.
And let’s just hope the players’ frustration overcomes their obvious fatigue and is taken out on the sheep on Sunday.

OK I’ll take that back – I dont want to make Forrest a scapegoat – it is a team effort after all – Maybe Forrest needs another 6 months to get into Ronny’s way of playing because he keeps playing him and obviously sees something in him
Pogmathonyahun aka Laird of the Smiles:“James Forrest suffered through lack of supply nothing else, cut the ghuy some slack. By the time he came on the rest of the team had tired.”
So he was just doing the decent thing by not showing up his team-mates? They had tired due to playing the whole of the match, much of it a man down. JF was fresh off the bench and should have been putting his 90 minutes’ effort into the mere 30 minutes he spent on the pitch. He didn’t.
I think the best outcome for all would be to sell Forrest to Spartak Moscow for £9M. But as we’ve caught them out with a similar “product” before, I’m not sure they’ll fall for it twice!

My opinion on VVD he got himself on the wrong side of the Inter player I think he might have thought he could nick the ball but that is fine in the SPL but at European level it was naive and then he proceeded to sprawl all over the player leaving the inter player waving an imaginary card at the ref.who was happy to oblige. He will grow out of this in years to come with experience but tonight he cost us dearly. Questions about Jamsie’s future tho. It’s not easy to lead the line, away from home, and playing with 10 men, but the least you expect is for him to press the defenders. I couldn’t understand it – is he under medical advice not to?

Big Victor would easily oust Bitton from any team or even SB as he is by far a better defensive midfield player than either of them!
Thought tonight we played well against an average Inter side
The ref was poor and the guy who scored should have been ordered off for his assault on SJ
Before the first leg I thought we would go out but our performances show a marked improvement from earlier in the season
RD is still a rookie at this level and it was interesting to hear the BT panel criticise his substitutions -so perhaps he still has a way to go
