Irony behind robust SFA rules

1103

The statement released by Duff and Phelps last night revealed the substance to the lobbying that had taken place since the original punishment handed out by the SFA judicial panel:

“The decision by the appellate tribunal to uphold the sanction, namely the suspension of registration of players for one year, is not competent in the view of the club and its legal advisers.

“Such a sanction was not available to the tribunal”.

The suspension of player registrations was not one of the suggested punishments on the menu for the judicial panel but the rules allowed them to vary from guidance and choose whatever punishment they believed appropriate.

The appeal correctly found that the judicial panel were not were not subject to an exhaustive list of possible punishments.  Duff and Phelps main hope was that the SFA rules were unclear and poorly constructed, as they were before an overhaul last year.

You don’t need to look too hard for the irony.

So do you think we are going to see an increase in the number of parades now Matheson has control?

    Yes or No?

    ************************************

I dont think their will be an increase in Parades in the City and I think less will be in the City Centre, but that will not be because of any Parade’s Committee just a consequence of pressure from the business community and members of the public fed up with the disruption

Very few parades even come to the attention of councilllors that will not change.

In fact they’ve committed more crimes than Tuco….

Tuco’s Crimes Stated During the First “Hanging”: Tuco was “wanted in 14 counties of this state, the condemned is found guilty of the crimes of murder; armed robbery of citizens, state banks and post offices; the theft of sacred objects; arson in a state prison; perjury; bigamy; deserting his wife and children; inciting prostitution; kidnapping; extortion; receiving stolen goods; selling stolen goods; passing counterfeit money; and contrary to the laws of this state the condemned is guilty of using marked cards … (inaudible due to other dialog) … Therefore, according to the powers vested in us we sentence the accused here before us Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez and any other aliases he might have to hang by the neck until dead. May God have mercy on his soul. Proceed.”

Yes to an extent we can apply to vary some traffic management but quite limited

Parades are covered by different laws we are just the administrators of the law for the Scottish Govt are powers are even more limited we are toothless in this case the policy was an attempt to give the council a bit of control the courts usually dont agree with us i.e. lap-dancing clubs

    ”St.John.Doyle

Why did the OO tell it’s members to vote for a unionist party, labour and Tories, if they are such friends of Salmond?

This is really confusing me now.”

What confuses me is why the OO won’t vote for the SNP.

The OO owe their allegiance to Her Majesty, and the institution of the monarchy, not the UK government.

The SNP wish to retain the monarchy. Indeed they rejected the suggested wording for the referendum question-

Do you want Scotland to secede from the United Kingdom?

arguing that it was inaccurate as they wished Scotland to remain as part of the Kingdom.

It looks to me like Labour may well have duped the OO as there was always going to be a review of the policy and that there will be no significant change to the policy. The SNP are hurting because for all their bombast they failed to take Glasgow and are casting around to find an excuse for their failure.

A much more interesting question though, and one the SNP supporters on here might answer, is why at the last minute the SNP government vetoed their cooncillors in Dumfries and Galloway proposed coalition with Labour (who were the largest party),which was on the point of being signed up, and told them instead to go into coallition with the Tories.

For a party who claim to be in favour of devolution and local control they seem very keen on centralised power.
